"This thing requires that: 1) the mounting hardware on the water heater must be modified such that it cannot be returned to the original configuration and also the original insulation sheet must be cut off leaving the tank and the sensor exposed to open air. One other note: One of these failed during a camping trip and I used a jumper to get the water heater to start. This is where I figured out that 10 minutes of on time will get sufficient hot water to do dishes or take a really quick shower."
