While preserving the integrity of Graham's original text, this revised edition includes updated commentary by noted financial journalist Jason Zweig, whose perspective incorporates the realities of today's market, draws parallels between Graham's examples and today's financial headlines, and gives readers a more thorough understanding of how to apply Graham's principles. Among the library of investment books promising no-fail strategies for riches, Benjamin Graham's classic, The Intelligent Investor , offers no guarantees or gimmicks but overflows with the wisdom at the core of all good portfolio management. Graham's sage advice, analytical guides, and cautionary tales are still valid for the contemporary investor, and Zweig's commentaries demonstrate the relevance of Graham's principles in light of 1990s and early twenty-first century market trends.

Several rules of thumbs I noted into my keep: - Investor buys the business [based on its price/value], speculator buys the stock [based on an absurd believe that he can foresee where the stock price will go]. Thus, invest in such old economy companies while bubble grows, as soon as the bubble burst - undervalued companies would rise back. Dividends - money firm pays you for providing capital, they belong to you."
"Not only will you get superb financial advice, but also an outstanding piece of literature written by a brilliant mind. In an illustrative contrast between the two men, while Graham might show what he thinks about a certain Wall Street practice with a sardonic quote from classical literature, Zweig disparages IPOs by showing us how many silly phrases he can think up to stand for the acronym."
"It is not a 101 guide to the basics of the stock market, but even if you go into this book with little to no knowledge of the stock market, it is informative enough that if you are intuitive, you can learn (by deduction) about investing."
"Very good that one book all information available for investor."
"New and seal in plastic wrap."
"Difficult for me to follow."
"The original text was updated in 1972 by Graham and then Jason Zweig adds his commentary in 2003 to relate to the changes at that time."
"No complaints of the book itself, but the Kindle edition of it is bad."

The book, especially at the beginning and the very end, is about 50% standard sales motivation content covering well-trodden material like the amygdala/lizard brain, Amy Cuddy’s TED talk on body language, etc. Knowing that activity takes 90+ days to pay off, successful salespeople relentlessly fill their pipeline through a mixture of telephone, in-person, e-mail, social selling, text messaging, referrals, networking, inbound leads, trade shows, and cold calling. “Top performers organize their day into distinct time blocks dedicated to specific activities, concentrating their focus and eliminating distractions within those blocks… We schedule our prospecting blocks [on our calendars] into three “Power Hours” that are spread across the day—morning, midday, and afternoon.”. 4. For this reason, the social channel is better suited to building familiarity, lead nurturing, research, nuanced inbound prospecting, and trigger-event awareness.”. 7. “The feeling of rejection happens the moment you get a reflex response, brush-off, or objection (RBO)… Overcoming doesn't work. The key is a disruptive statement or question that turns them around so that they lean toward you rather than move away from away from you… When they say they're busy, instead of arguing them into how you will only take a little bit of their time, say, “I figured you would be.” Agreeing with them disrupts their thought pattern… When they say, “Just send me some information,” say, “Tell me specifically what you are looking for.” This calls their bluff and forces engagement… When they say, “I'm not interested,” say, “That makes sense."
"I bought this book hoping to find information on many forms of prospecting, and how to bring it all together into a structure. With 320 pages, I felt for sure there would be a chapter on bringing it all together, like 'A day in the life of a fanatical prospector', to give the reader a sample framework in which to form a basis to change how they prospect. That's what I needed, as I'm pretty good with scripting, but my overall time management and flow of the multiple prospecting mediums sucks. An additional note: I'm getting a little frustrated with the fact that there are more and more books loaded with compensated reviewers on Amazon."
"As a result, even if I've been in sales for quite a while, it humbles me to say that I've learned more about prospecting in the short span of time of reading this book than I ever did when in my entire selling career. The range of lessons the book offers is both broad and balanced, and I can confidently say that all of my questions, doubts, and even objections about prospecting have been satisfactorily handled."

Reviews
Find Best Price at Amazon"I liked it so much that I bought two of McMillan's subsequent publications: McMillan on Options, Second Edition (Wiley Trading) (cited as McMillan, 2004) and Options for Volatile Markets: Managing Volatility and Protecting Against Catastrophic Risk (Bloomberg Financial) (cited as McMillan, 2011). Although new to this book, much of the information on volatility was previously published in McMillan 2004 (pages 241-568) and McMillan 2011 (pages 171 - 204). While one might criticize McMillan for repackaging the same material in different books, on the positive side: If you buy this book, you do not need to buy the other two. While hypothetical examples are useful in explaining how to construct a position or to illustrate a position's sensitivity to individual variables (i.e., the Greeks: delta, gamma, vega and theta), they often do not give one a practical sense of whether the trade would be profitable or even feasible. Throughout the book McMillan advises his readers to construct option positions that are insensitive or "delta-neutral" to changes in the price of the underlying stock (e.g. Chapter 40 explains how to create a position that is neutral with respect to both gamma and delta and would profit at a specific rate (vega) if implied volatility increases or decreases (pages 835 - 836). Unlike McMillan's example, the only way I could come close to achieving a delta / gamma neutral position was to specify a more modest return from vega e.g. -100.00 < position vega < 100.00. McMillan 2004 (page 505) includes a similar example of a huge position (555 contracts) that is delta/gamma neutral with limited vega risk. Later (page 516) McMillan concedes that this is a "theoretical example", but in this book, McMillan appears to be advising his readers to actually make these large trades. Note that in "Options for Volatile Markets" (McMillan 2011) McMillan recommends a different collar strategy: buy six-month puts and sell one month calls with strike prices approximately 2% OTM (page 149)."
"That said, I would recommend reading the early introductory chapters but then concentrating only on chapters that describe the trading technique that you are interested in (Calls, Puts, Vertical Spreads, etc)."

"Brian Murray’s book helps the newbie to not only get into investing in real estate, but helping you to see that it is possible to go big. I don’t see any negatives with this book as it helps anyone, newbie or veteran, with getting and staying in the commercial real estate market."
"This is more of a motivational book, like "you can do commercial real estate!"
""Crushing It in Apartments and Commercial Real Estate: How a Small Investor Can Make It Big" by Brian H Murray, is an excellent read for anyone already in or thinking about going into real estate. I do enjoy how this book isn't just for real estate professionals but its also for beginners (Like me and my fiance). Its great that a lot of the advice he offers doesn’t require someone to be wealthy by any standards."

"I am a literacy coach and am so excited to use this book next year with teachers at my school. Here's why: I love how Jennifer compares The Reading Strategies Book to a cookbook, It's a great analogy for the lessons in the book. Jennifer walks you through navigating the book, choosing goals for students, how the book might fit into your current literacy instruction, and supporting strategies with visuals. I think this book should be a required text for college literacy courses and should be a welcome gift to new teachers when hired."
