Find Best Price at Amazon"His rustic and unfussy, but uncompromising and deeply considered, approach to live-fire cooking shows that grilling can be sophisticated and gourmet, and I've fallen in love, as he has, with the bittersweet, rich flavors of food charred over live fire. He elaborates on the incredibly strong foundation established in Seven Fires, incorporating the regional ingredients and influences of the locations he visits throughout the book while making the approach a bit more practical. Mallmann explicitly rejects elaborate grills and excessively fussy prep and technique here - the whole message is to resist the urge to overthink and overdo, and simply to get outside in beautiful surroundings and cook good food over fire. Some may feel that this is a compromise, but I think it's more a nod to the reality that a towering hardwood bonfire is not an everyday undertaking - whether you're a revered Argentine asador or a tired new dad making dinner after work - and that the perfect is often the enemy of the good. It's a little bit disappointing not to see recipes for lamb on iron crosses and salmon cooked in the infiernillo (a double-decker bonfire that forms the oven from hell) - simply because those approaches are so heroic and awesome."
"Just as his other book, Seven Fires, this is a tasteful book that combines good recipes with nice artwork."
"Beautiful book at a good price."
"I want to eat every page in this book."
"Mallmann's romantic way of life is enticing - recipes here too are wholesome and approachable."
"love this book - mouthwatering color photos with recipes and stories."
"Beautiful photography and easy to follow recipes."
A unique and moving real-life story of the extraordinary bond between a young teacher and a penguin, this book will delight readers who loved Marley & Me, Dewey the Library Cat, The Good Good Pig, and any book by Jon Katz. Michell names the penguin Juan Salvador (“John Saved”), but Juan Salvador, as it turns out, is the one who saves Michell. Witty and heartwarming, The Penguin Lessons is a classic in the making, a story that is both absurd and wonderful, exactly like Juan Salvador. What’s more, The Penguin Lessons teaches an important truth: that a single act of compassion can be repaid a thousand-fold.” —Sy Montgomery, author of The Good Good Pig and the National Book Award finalist The Soul of an Octopus “[Tom Michell’s] tone suits the material perfectly. “I loved this book, and you will, too! No fool, this penguin.

"I think as humans we somehow feel superior and in control of who we pick as our. "pets", "I want a chocolate lab, or a gray cockatoo" and yet I find that they more often pick you, at least that has been my experience, and this is a case in point."
"I loved the friendship, I loved the travel details, I loved the relationship between the penguin and the boys at the boarding school."
"The words quoted come from the author, of course."
"It's a great story about humans and the environment, an in particular about one man and his penguin."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I was with someone from Buenos Aires who does not speak English, so she could not translate words when she used words particular to Argentina that I did not understand (I learnt Spanish in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic). They usually cook it "cocido," which literally means "cooked," and which is what North Americans would usually call medium (maybe just slightly past medium, in some instances). If you want rare or medium rare, you say "jugoso" or "a punto," respectively, and may have to convince your server."
"we checked off a lot on the lists mainly because our online research showed generally the same must-visit places, anyway, so we ended up using this book as a constant reference. because most of what we saw in our online research on buenos aires and our actual discoveries while in buenos aires showed up in this book, i felt this book is 'legit." it has maps in the book itself and has another handy, plastic foldable map u can easily put in your pocket that we constantly used."
