Hoosier Hysteria Road Book : A Guide to the Byways of Indiana High School Basketball
Here, for the first time, curious onlookers and fans of Indiana high school hoops have a book which guides them to and through the Hoosier Hysteria experience. Dale Lawrence was born in Valparaiso, Indiana, on January 1, 1956 and grew up loving basketball -- at all levels -- as any true Hoosier would.
Reviews
"And not surprisingly, many a book has been penned about "Hoosier Hysteria," the state's longtime love affair with its high school cage teams. Virtually every school in the state is referenced by its enrollment, its team name, the age of its gymnasium, its noted alumni, and its crosstown arch-nemeses. Yet the Hoosier Hysteria Road Book covers far more ground -- succeeding not only as a sports publication, but as an Indiana travel guide, a history book, and a humorously incisive work of sociology. Reasoning that no game is complete without dinner afterwards at a local restaurant, Lawrence also devotes a fair portion of his book to recommending funky local eateries across the state. Lawrence has an evident and heartfelt love of Indiana basketball, and a passion for all things unique. In a world where the individual is being overtaken by the corporate, where chain stores are homogenizing the national landscape, where distinctions between peoples and places are fast disappearing, the Hoosier Hysteria Road Book is an homage to the singular and eccentric -- an invaluable celebration of those small, oft-overlooked differences that make our lives worth living."
"I bought and loved this book a couple of years ago and it disappeared when a well meaning friend "borrowed" it for a school project."

Rand McNally Indianapolis & Vicinity: Street Guide
Reviews
"I got my grandmother a copy of this atlas a few years ago and she loved using it for finding answers to crossword clues."
"This map was a gift to my daughter who lives in Atlanta and she said that she loves it."
"I wish the publisher would re-publish the older version with the bigger maps, but with the up to date changes."
"This map was just what I needed b/c I am thinking to relocate to the Atlanta area and I wanted to map out certain points of interest and good schools and where the companies are that I will be applying to for a job."
"Compact and easy to carry and reference, but up to date and easy to read."
"Great map to have in Atlanta so you do not run down your battery."
"I am new to the city and it helps me get a perspective of how the streets are laid out."
"However, just trying to find, for example, the popular area known as Oakland (near the college and hospital) took me forever....hunting and pecking around microscopic print, not aided by intelligent shading, was a study in frustration. However, the readability and practical details of the magnified PGH proper is still frustrating, only taking up a fraction of the entire unfolded page. Rand McNally must know there's little demand in this day and age for tangible maps and decided they didn't really need to put any effort into their design. I know it's cheaper to purchase this map than a fast food burger, but I'd gladly pay a bit more to actually learn about city streets rather than invest in a magnifying glass. I bought a better book-style map of the city and guess will just Xerox certain pages to fashion my own layout as keeping this pinned up on my wall has not helped me even in the vaguest way."

Indianapolis Union and Belt Railroads (Railroads Past and Present)
In an era dominated by huge railroad corporations, Indianapolis Union and Belt Railroads reveals the important role two small railroad companies had on development and progress in the Hoosier State. An interesting history not only of these two railroads but how they ultimately served as a model for the many other belt railroads . This is a great history book, neatly telling the value of railroads in the development of the United States as well as in Indianapolis.
