On this plan you’re going to eat a lot. Phase I (Monday-Tuesday): Lots of carbs and fruits. Phase II (Wednesday-Thursday): Lots of proteins and veggies. Phase III (Friday-Sunday): All of the above, plus healthy fats and oils. By keeping your metabolism guessing in this specific and deliberate way, you’ll get it working faster. Complete with 4 weeks of meal plans and over 50 recipes – including vegetarian, organic, and gluten-free options – this is the silver bullet for the chronic dieter who has tried every fad diet and failed, the first time dieter attempting to kick her metabolism into gear, and anyone who wants to naturally and safely eat her way to a skinner, healthier self. If you’ve got a slow metabolism, you’re storing—instead of burning—and more of your food ends up stuck to your thighs and belly as fat. In the book you talk about the importance of switching up what you eat and how it can help you lose weight. And by eating the right nutrient-dense whole foods on the right days and at the right times, that’s exactly how you’ll get your metabolism burning fast and hot, like it should be. The book is the product of 20 years of clinical experience, of helping people lose weight and keep it off. Each phase of the diet—and the specific foods within that phase—sets off precise reactions in your body, coaxing it to unlock and burn fat. A "calorie" has nothing to do with your weight or metabolism; it's actually a unit of measure—the amount of energy it takes to raise the temperature of one gram of water one degree Celsius! With The Fast Metabolism Diet , you'll learn healthy eating habits that will improve your physical and mental well-being, no matter how much weight you need to lose. There's plenty of flexibility for working around food allergies or sensitivities, and any other restrictions imposed by medical conditions. The diet lists healthy portion sizes too—you’ve got to fuel that metabolism. The Fast Metabolism Diet book includes more than 50 super-simple recipes—including family favorites like my Slow-Cooker Chili and Pepperoncini Pork Roast—that you can tailor to your preferences and cooking style. By the time you hit your goal weight, you'll have built exactly the habits you need to live a balanced, food-loving life.

Find Best Price at Amazon"I know it may seem a bit early to post a review, but wanted to do so now for two reasons; first, I am excited by my results so far - I have already lost 9 pounds - and second, I was dismayed by the inaccurate review (V. Canfield) that deterred me from trying this diet program months ago. I have lost (and gained back) weight on at least three different programs and know I will lose weight with Weight Watchers if I really work at it and am very patient - but I knew it would take a long time and lots of deprivation to lose all that I need to lose to improve my health. I have a friend (a tiny, little friend who needed to lose about 20 pounds) who had lost weight on the FMD and she loved it. Then I read V. Canfield's review and it gave me the excuse I was looking for - I told my friend that the diet was a starvation program it would be unhealthy to eat so few 'calories'. She was surprised and told me that she never got hungry and had a hard time eating all of the food on the program. I lost 3 pounds in two weeks and then I gained it all back - plus one more. I find it very sad that V. Canfield's inaccurate representation of the program (the calorie counts artificially assume that you can only eat from the cook book, chooses some very lean recipes and then ignores that veggies are unlimited) review has turned so many people away from this program. I have been on the FMD program for 9 months now (except for the period between Thanksgiving and New Years Day) and have lost 95 pounds! Then I started eating on the maintenance plan (basically phase 3 with the food from all the phases thrown in) and I continued to lose weight - just more slowly. Beginning Thanksgiving week, I started eating holiday foods - so sugar, corn, wheat etc. At first, I actually lost 8 pounds after T'giving, so I started feeling a bit bullet proof, obviously I had cured my metabolism and could now eat whatever I wanted, I thought. By Christmas time I was eating enough sugar that I was beginning to retain fluid, feel pain in my joints and have indigestion - all things that disappeared on the program. I gained back 5 of the 8 pounds I lost right after Thanksgiving and it has taken me a week to get rid of the sugar again - it is incredibly addictive! He gained back 8 pounds before he decided he really preferred the way he felt on the program - so he is still eating with me most days."
"The first weeks I didn't realize that the fruits you could eat on days 1 & 2 (watermelon) could not be eaten on days 5 and 6. Anyway... in spite of all of my imperfections with the diet I lost 18 lbs. The weight stayed off for several months until recently when I began eating too much sugar etc again and I gained back 4 lbs, but I am back on the diet and confident I will lose the 4 lbs and then some."
"I’ve lost 16 pounds on my 26th day."
"Losing weight thats all that counts."
"I had ordered the book from another site and didn't get it in time so I ordered the audio version and downloaded it right away."
"Loved the book."
"Presented a lot of information in a logical way."
"I am in sales and this diet would be difficult for me to follow as I have too many lunch appointments where the food is not diet friendly however have several co-workers who are in the office and able to bring their lunches and they have lost a unbelievable amount of weight and I am not talking about just one there are several."

For example: ob doctors often frighten women away from all forms of vitamin A because of one study that was done in the 1990s, but vitamin A as beta carotene hasn't been shown to cause birth defects like vitamin A in the form of retinol has, which is stored in fat cells, and vitamin A as beta carotene is necessary for fetal eye development (this is based on newer data I've found through my research). I had to argue with my ob about this when I told her I wouldn't take prescription prenatals and preferred my own vitamin mix - well, it was for many reasons, including the synthetic junk and dyes in most prescription prenatals (boy, I've got some stories about pharmaceutical reps pushing those things and their reasons why they include dyes in them that have been linked to birth defects, one of which included an old man making the statement that "pregnant women don't want to take ugly brown pills; they want to take pretty blue ones!""
"My daughter reads the book daily and is impressed with the references and information that is explained in simple language."
"This book provides good overview information about the entire pregnancy, childbirth, and the first few weeks after childbirth."
"This book is perfect for first-time parents who are interested in no-nonsense information."
"This is going to be a book that I will give away as an early baby gift."
"When me and my husband decided to start getting ready for a baby I was worried and I wanted to do everything I could for reaserch so I would have the least amount of trouble during my pregnancy."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I bought this book a couple of years ago, and thought the exercises looked too easy to start with, so put it away. Yes, the amount of exercises were shorter than I was used to, and I didn't come home from the gym feeling smashed. Next, I found that after 2 years of attempting chin ups, I finally managed one and now can do 12, with a brief break between every 2 or 3. It makes sense, but I was a bit worried stopping all that arm work. Until I finally managed chin ups which are out of reach of most girls, even those doing arm work daily. My jeans are smaller, my butt is no longer saggy, I have abundant energy, I spend less than 2 hrs in the gym a week, my legs are tight all over, I've changed shape all over and, wait for it - I'm 49 years old!!!"
"Bret is a master at glutes and has written a comprehensive guide to training and muscle awareness."
"I have followed Bret on Facebook, read countless blogs, regularly refer to and viewed several of his YouTube videos but it's great to have all the resources in one place- within the pages of this book."
"I'm sure other reviewers have stated things much better than I would already, so all I have to say is: Do the exercises."
"This book is amazing!"
"Its full of information on glutes and proper glute training."
"If you want a better booty this is the book you should have in your library."
"This book is perfect for either a seasoned trainer who wants to help transform his/ her female clients or the simply the average woman who desires to get instruction from tried and tested fitness routines that will transform her figure into the outer beauty that she desires!"

Find Best Price at Amazon"There is more information than just that in the book, including recipes for home-made hair products and specifics for how to cut and colour curly hair, but that is the skeleton of her approach. Although the hair-cutting information is meant for stylists, when my hair was very long I used it to cut my own hair and gave myself the best haircut I've ever had. Most importantly, she has expanded her system of curl types from three (essentially waves, loose curls and tight curls) to seven different categories (S'wavy, Wavy, Cherub, Botticelli, Corkicelli, Corkscrew, and Fractal or Zizag) and has completely reworked the "African American hair" chapter from the first book (which revealed she had very little experience with black women's hair) to something much more satisfying. Although there is something for everyone, people with different hair types might be frustrated to not be more represented in the book. Similarly, folks who are not new to caring for curly hair might be frustrated that there isn't more information here - while this is great for beginners, there are lots of different techniques and perspectives which can be found on the Naturally Curly website, for example about dew points, hair porosity, hair care ingredients, and styling techniques like "plopping.""
"I can see how a lot of these tips work for other people, especially very curly hair. Navigating the curly hair products has been a lot easier after reading this book, and I think its a good resource for anyone who wants better curls."
"I bought this book on the recommendation of other stylists to learn to better care for the hair of my biracial clients."
"Some of the stories I really related to as I experienced situations similar during my own bad hair days."
"I have very curly hair and I never knew how to treat it."
"After reading the book, I found out that I've been using the wrong type of shampoo/conditioner/styling products. I even used her tips on cutting your own hair and I was surprised at how easy it was."
"Yes love, love,... its my go to book."
"My mom and dad had straight hair, so I really didn't have anyone growing up that had curly hair to help me take care of it. This book has helped me so much to understand why my hair does what it does and what my hair needs."

"I tried many years ago, but have so many food allergies, that it proved difficult... plus I'm a complete foodie, and have loved my meats, cheeses and cream sauces! And the fact that it is also really fun to read, and FUNNY is a huge bonus ;-). So far I've loved the Bulgar, Arugula and Cannellini Salad, Split Pea Soup and the Snobby Joes were great, and fun to say!"
"Potato and Kale Enchiladas with Roasted Chili Sauce - Quite a bit of work but SO worth it! I would highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who is Vegan or looking to incorporate more vegetable based meals into their diet! The Veganomicon doesn't boast about being a quick book (though there are a good chunk of recipes that can be made in 45 mins or less), so it doesn't affect my rating of it."
"Awesome book."

Best Aging Grooming & Style
Exploring how their wardrobe, beauty, diet, and hair rituals evolve with time and how some aspects of their signature styles never change, Jett shows how Frenchwomen know their strengths, hide their weaknesses, and never talk about their fears, failures, or flaws. Fashion journalist and editor Tish Jett reveals how middle-aged French women remain 'forever chic' in this detailed look at the diet, skin, hair, makeup and exercise regimen of la femme d'un certain age…this volume provides commonsense and decidedly French head-to-toe beauty routines that yield results. The book’s strength lies in its anecdotes and wisdom on how women…can be more present and committed to living a fuller life of kindness, generosity, openness, and adventure.” ~ Women’s Voices for Change "Haven't you always wondered how [the French] can drink all that wine and eat all that beurre and remain slim and silky? Forever Chic , written by Tish Jett (an American who spent years abroad) shares the secrets of what she calls the French "timeless beauty, style and substance."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Each chapter takes a look at how French women handle different aspects of feminine life from skin care to clothing, diet, exercise and far more. This is a grown up version of Helena Frith Powell's "All You Need to be Impossibly French" intended for the over 40 crowd. She briefly explains her move to France for 2 years that morphed into 25 and still going as she met and married a charming French man. She liked how French women around her approached life, and set out to find what they were doing that made them a bit more attractive, different, worth emulating. Entire books are written on the French diet, and her chapter summarizes much of that wisdom, but she gives fresh good advice. Even if you own Helena Frith Powell, Debra Ollivier, Anne Barone, Mireille Guiliano, Jennifer Scott and Marie-Anne LeCoeur you will not be disappointed in this new book. Makes perfect sense since Aspirin is also known as Beta Hydroxy Acid or BHA for short in creams and potions that work at loosening dead skin cells. This one has a few new wrinkles to the whole French diet paradox but for the most part it's common sense and if you've read widely in this subject, it won't be much new. However it's always nice to hear it stated a slightly different way, and she does add a couple of new things from a French nutrition expert. As always, they fit well, show off the body that took so much effort, and announce quietly with conviction that this person maintains her style and chic always."
"The author (as well as her French friends) are out there trying new treatments as well as old, tried and true ones and she gives good advice on what works and what doesn't."
"I appreciate the advice, however difficult to integrate into a busy & overwhelmed American life, that it is important to take time for one's self."

I didn't find it confusing, just followed the steps and... at 43 years old, I feel better than I did in my early 20's. I FEEL GOOD! While I feel a "loyalty" to my original, exceptionally PRIZED copy of Trim Healthy Mama, I did order both new books. The information contained here is definitely more concise, the layout is (in my opinion) much better; I can see this will be an easier read for many folks, and while it is more concise, it also contains updated information - making it my newest prize!"
"I no longer was worried that if I did take off all of the weight it would just come back on because right from the beginning they explained how to maintain your weight loss. I initially lost 8-10 pounds per month, after the first 50 pounds I lost 4-5 pounds per month. Then I became pregnant, had a healthy pregnancy with a 24 pound weight gain and gave birth to a perfect baby girl (all while continuing on the plan during and after pregnancy). I lost the baby weight in 4 months and then lost the additional 15 pounds I had left until I reached my goal. I just gave birth to my son (also wonderfully healthy) and had a 23 pound weight gain."
"This plan helped me lose my weight, and I've been maintaining a 100-pound weight loss by eating this way. You just learn which foods are healthier and how to put foods together so they work to make your body lose weight."
