It has over 800 essential oil blends, which I am very happy about, as it's why I ordered the book. There is also a lot of information in this book for using essential oils with children. There is a great section on skin care and hair care with essential oils and carrier oils, as well as insomnia, the two sections I have personally found most helpful so far. I have been using essential oils for 10+ years, so this book was purchased for a bit of inspiration for blends. I have included a photo so you can see how thick with information this book literally is! ), and Kurt Schnaubelt, The Healing Intelligence of Essential Oils (thats his newest one, it is a wealth of knowledge) and my absolute favorite: Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin by Steffan Arctander, a classic that will probably never go out of print."
"For many, this is the preferred reference book on the topic of essential oils. Honestly, if you like essential oils you will appreciate this book."
"Excellent reference."
"I have lots of great EO books, but this one is the most informative!"
"That said, the book is 2 1/4" thick, in spite of the smaller font and barely any spacing between the descriptions of each oil, so it would be excessively heavy and even thicker if the font type were larger."
"I've had the original version for over 20yrs and have used it regularly, and am loving the updated version with added chapters and updated information."
"I have recently been getting into essential oils and need a book to be able to look up different uses."

"Anymore, it's hard knowing how to treat or prevent physical or medical problems, be it the common cold or chronic conditions such as diabetes and cancer. As an example, the author frequently suggests Colloidal Silver (for everything from ear infections to rattlesnake bites)."
"I saw an earlier edition in my chiropractor's office and found myself going through it every time I was in the waiting room."
"I have been hearing some great stories about people seeing herbalists, and using herbs and other supplements in addition to regular medical treatment, going outside the normal level of resource to improve their health, and experiencing relief and cure from life threatening conditions."
"I've bought updated copies several times since and have found this a most helpful and comprehensive reference book."
"Wonderful book."
"This book keeps alive and very healthy!!"
"However, she fails to adequately state the conditions they address or the dosages needed for efficacy."

Using history as her guide, nationally recognized midwife Gaskin explores what she hopes will be a renaissance in natural childbirth, something that she's been advocating since the mid-1970s.

Find Best Price at Amazon"She is, in fact, the only midwife to have a medically-recognized procedure named for her (The Gaskin Maneuver, a technique used to resolve shoulder dystocia). In the early-‘70s, Gaskin, her husband, and some friends started a commune in rural Tennessee called The Farm. The intentional community brought together non-violent, vegetarian, spiritual people bound by a “shared psychedelic vision.”. The Farm is now well known for its midwifery practice (one of the first out-of-hospital birthing centers in the U.S.). The first part is a selection of birth stories, told in first person by mothers who delivered at The Farm. Gaskin condones unmedicated births (unless intervention is medically necessary), and her practices and advice strongly reflect that bent. I visualized my yoni as a big, open cave beneath the surface of the ocean, with huge, surging currents sweeping in an out. As the wave of water rushed into my cave, my contraction would grow and swell and fill, reach a full peak, then ebb smoothly back out. Here’s her description: "I wanted to connect deeply with her and share my recent experience to help her relax and open. The thought of one of my BFFs coming to be with me during labor, stripping down, and telling me about her oceanic “yoni” while I’m having contractions is, frankly, laughable. There are drawings (and some very graphic photographs) of birthing positions that use gravity and various other techniques to help get that baby out without the necessity of forceps or vacuum extractors (or c-section, for that matter). There is lots of discussion on “Sphincter Law,” the “set of basic assumptions about birth” that Gaskin and her partners follow: 1) sphincters (excretory, vaginal, and cervical) work best in private, 2) they can’t be opened at will and don’t respond well to commands (like “Push!!"
"Removed my fears of labor and birth as I go into a vbac."
"I am strongly considering an un-medicated birth [my health insurance will not cover home birth but will cover hospital or birthing center birth, I haven't yet decided which way to go] and for me, understanding all the things that may happen is what will prepare me the most. I found that this book contained very good information on what things could potentially occur in both a home birth and hospital birth, what things might be suggested during a hospital birth, and valid arguments against hospital interventions."
"Incredible book and a must-read for any mom to be who wants meds free delivery, as well as for those, who want to better understand the process of childbirth and the risks that come with routine medical procedures and medications used in delivery rooms."

"Most books for me are a skim through and a space holder on my shelf, but this one will remain by my side, yellowed from highlighter, and a spine stressed from photocopies for my patients. His take on cholesterol, grass-fed meat, sugar, nitrates, saturated fat, statin drugs and just about everything else he talks about in The Paleo Cardiologist is right on the money. "The son of a top cardiologist follows his father's footstep and after years of practice awakens to the art and science of wellness.

Find Best Price at Amazon"Every cardiologist I have been to over the years within the first 10-15 minutes of a consultation the cardiologist is closing hard on scheduling me for a medical procedure. I have had reasonably low cholesterol (150-180) my whole life but also struggled with high liver enzymes my whole adult life too (and not a drinker), yet when I would ask cardiologists about the side effects of taking the heart related drugs (beta blockers & statons) they would be almost outright perturbed I'd even have the gull to ask about these things. He also referred me to a local cardiologist where guess what...the exact same thing happened only this cardiologist was more rude than most and was clearly insulted I'd even ask any single question. Shortly after that less than positive consultation, I was searching on Amazon for Paleo products and happened to search the words "Paleo Cardiologist" and The Paleo Cardiologist book popped into my screen. Many of the things Dr Jack Wolfson said in the book and his recommendations were similar to what I had already researched and lined up with what my own alternative doctor told me. I was actually shocked there was any cardiologist on the planet who might prescribe an alternate path to health other than stent(s), open heart surgery and/or a slew of drugs with side effects. It wasn't easy at the beginning and I am till learning and making changes but I have been following the Paleo lifestyle, supplements and many of the lifestyle changes outlined in this book. I was so impressed with what was happening with my health, I decided to book an appointment to see Dr Jack Wolfson in person at his offices in Arizona."
"Everywhere we turn, we are being poisoned through our food, water, drugs, vaccines and our choices in the grocery store are getting slim. Another recent experience was being yelled at because he was NOT on Warfarin, even though he was on Boluoke which has been used in Chinese hospitals safely now for a long time. Very few cardiologists will agree with an Integrative’s doctors supplements and lack of drugs, so the care usually falls apart when the patient goes for their annual check up. I really recommend anyone who wants to learn the latest news to prevent heart attacks and strokes and who wants to have a healthy family in this very trying time we are in."
"This is an awesome and highly informative book that completely obliterated the ‘food pyramid’ we were so fraudulently programmed with during our first years in elementary school."
"An absolute must read for snyone with heart problems or for those who want to avoid them."
"Wow!"
"This information will save lives and the quality of life for all who read and follow the advice."
"So much information!!!!"

"As someone who (as a result of the remote area in which I live) has 100% responsibility for the care and styling of my hair with limited access to commercial products, this is where I got the basics of establishing a healthy hair-care regimen that I can do on my own. As someone into a healthy lifestyle, I also appreciated the whole-body recognition, with the references to important vitamins, minerals, and a healthy lifestyle for growing stronger hair."

"And listen to it, because it knows what it needs to be healthy, and it knows what’s good for you. Instead of urging me listen to an authority figure speaking from on high about what I need to do for my body, this book takes a totally different approach. This book teaches me to understand that the ultimate authority on what is good for my body is my body itself... and teaches me how to listen to the wisdom my body wants to share with me. I don’t need to consult a book to know what those are (not even this book). In fact, this book doesn’t give you a standard list of foods you “should” eat at all... because the book’s whole point is that YOUR BODY will tell you what it needs to eat. And indeed, I know very well what my body does and doesn’t need to eat, but I hadn’t been listening because what I knew didn’t match with what “experts” were saying I SHOULD eat. This book will take you on a journey in which you will learn that your body is not the enemy, a foe to be subdued."
"I like the author's simple and direct manner in giving us this advice."
"I recommend it for anyone interested in cleaning up their diet in a sane manner using food one actually enjoys!"
"If you have any sort of health issue, you may find something in this book that will help."
"With a wealth of information, she builds the case for listening to your body and covers the gamut, including such topics as your brain, drugs, GMO vs. organic foods, detoxification, meditation, use of affirmations, exercise, drinking pure water, being in the outdoors, and getting healthy."
"This book made me look at my nutrition choices and my body differently and more consentiously."
"The author definitely took the time to go within the self and discover how to be guided not by what the world tells you to do, but by what one's own body needs."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Still don't quite understand how food has that kind of impact on the body but the proof was undeniable. When you walk into an ER and the doctors remember you and know how to treat you off of their memory it is pretty sad. My other friend no longer clears his throat that he did repeatedly for 10 years. in fact, after three months of being on type O strictly if I have something with corn starch my body and my friend's body reacts immediately...head pressure, sinus pressure it is crazy. Not all avoid foods will my body react to dramatically but there are key ones it will and I am like I should not have eaten that. I love pizza with just a little olive oil, crushed garlic, feta, spinach, no sauce, kalamata olives, maybe some red onions...my favorite...before I loved cheese pizza but not no more. My body literally craves type O food it is absolutely mind blowing. I bought the app on my iPhone so when in the grocery store I just quickly look up an item as type O can have mushrooms but some mushrooms are on my avoid list so I just click on the app as I can never remember which one and know immediately what to buy and what not too."
"I first found this book in high school and my mom said I was an A blood type so I concentrated on vegetarian foods. I was happy to do this because it was in the 90's and all my teen magazines promoted low fat and vegetarian diets and of course, I wanted to be like the models. He was so sure that I had it, he sent me to another hospital in another town to have the test retaken because he thought the staff was bad at the first place. Of course, dietetic school said this was a fad diet so I went on a dietary guidelines plan. 'Fast forward a year out of school, I discovered the paleo diet and my whole world was better. My mom was managing a health food store at the time and she had blood type supplements on her shelf. He loves protein shakes and I don't push meat on him because I know your body will naturally like what it needs. I saw 5 OBGYN's and I told them all my theory that I was reacting to the blood of the baby and they all thought I was nuts. After I delivered I still believed the reason I was so sick in pregnancy was because of the blood type difference. Years later I read in one of Dr. D Adamo's books that he supports that theory of the most difficult pregnancies are usually type O mom's with A babies because they are opposite in dietary needs."
"I advocate the diet and the book."
