"I did get the flu this January, but with this supplement information, I had a far less occurrence than others who rely on chemical Rx medication, that for me often have more side effects than the original illness."
"I have the old book, but felt it was time to update."
"Anymore, it's hard knowing how to treat or prevent physical or medical problems, be it the common cold or chronic conditions such as diabetes and cancer. As an example, the author frequently suggests Colloidal Silver (for everything from ear infections to rattlesnake bites)."
"Have referred to this book for years at tge linrary or herb store."
"I saw an earlier edition in my chiropractor's office and found myself going through it every time I was in the waiting room."
"I have been hearing some great stories about people seeing herbalists, and using herbs and other supplements in addition to regular medical treatment, going outside the normal level of resource to improve their health, and experiencing relief and cure from life threatening conditions."
"However, she fails to adequately state the conditions they address or the dosages needed for efficacy."

Alchemy of Herbs will show you how to transform common ingredients into foods and remedies that heal. While using herbs can often seem complicated or costly, this book offers a way to learn that’s as simple and inexpensive as cooking dinner. With the guidance of herbalist Rosalee de la Forêt , you’ll understand how to match the properties of each plant to your own unique needs, for a truly personalized approach to health for you and your family. In addition to offering dozens of inspiring recipes, Rosalee examines the history and modern-day use of 29 popular herbs, supporting their healing properties with both scientific studies and in-depth research into herbal energetics. Drawn in by the abundant, delicious recipes, you may come to this book as a home chef, but you will leave as an herbalist, transformed by the power of Rosalee’s alchemy.”. — Guido Masé , author of The Wild Medicine Solution and DIY Bitters. And now, by combining ancient wisdom with modern scientific understanding, Rosalee de la Forêt helps you put nature’s pharmacy to work. “It’s rare to find a writer who can describe complex ideas with such clarity and skill that anyone can grasp their subject— Rosalee de la Forêt is one of those souls. “I first met Rosalee de la Forêt several years ago and was immediately impressed with her knowledge, passion for herbal medicine, and ability to clearly communicate this information. “So many books geared toward those just beginning to explore the world of medicinal plants offer very basic ‘take this herb for that problem’ information, under the assumption that the foundational underpinnings of herbalism are somehow ‘too hard’ for beginners to grasp. Here, in plain English, Rosalee de la Forêt shows us that the way that herbalists choose herbs for individual people with particular imbalances isn’t some magical power or a skill attainable only by those who can devote their lives to intense study. As an experienced educator and practitioner, she weaves together tradition, experience, and science to present a holistic view of each of the plants, while providing specific and practical advice for how you can bring them into your home and life. This is a book you will want to leave sitting out on your desk, coffee table, and kitchen counter, all at the same time.”. — Kristine Brown, RH(AHG) , herbalist and author/illustrator of Herbal Roots Zine. Rosalee de la Forêt 's sophisticated approach and her personal experience with herbs comes through in her beautiful recipes, which eloquently combine food and herbal medicine. She unveils the enchanting, yet readily accessible world of herbalism that makes me fall right back in love with the plant kingdom; and you will too!”. — Dina Falconi , herbalist and author of Foraging & Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook. “In her wonderfully written book, Alchemy of Herbs , Rosalee de la Forêt encourages the reader to 'break free from the insanity of the One-Solution Syndrome' by choosing personalized herbal formulations based on what our own senses tell us our bodies need. Self-empowerment begins in the kitchen as Rosalee tempts us with dozens of mouth-watering recipes and encourages us to ‘move forward with the mind-set of an explorer.’ Those new to plant-based healing as well as experienced herbalists will find that this beautifully illustrated book exemplifies the heart and soul of herbal healing through delicious food as powerful medicine.”. — Jeff Carpenter , author of The Organic Medicinal Herb Farmer: The Ultimate Guide to Producing High-Quality Herbs on a Market Scale. Rosalee de la Forêt shares concepts like energetics and taste in such a way that makes it easier for people to understand them, and how to find which herbs are best for them as individuals. Her book is unique in that it explains both the chemistry and the energetics of medicinal herbs and at the same time introduces their use in a friendly and inviting way.”. — Holly Bellebuono , author of The Healing Kitchen and The Essential Herbal for Natural Health. “ Rosalee de la Forêt 's book is an excellent introduction to the energetics and science behind the use of our most common culinary and medicinal herbs, providing the reader with a solid foundation for further learning and exploration.”. — Todd Caldecott, Dip.

Find Best Price at Amazon"The foundational content includes an explanation about how herbs serve individuals unlike our current system of One Solution Syndrome for everyone (take a pill for this and then take a pill for that), a well-explained overview of the energetics of herbs and deep dive into the tastes of herbs - which is my favorite part. Another aspect I like about the recipes is that they are all very doable: no specialized equipment, no huge orders of exotic herbs and spices and no tricky culinary skills required. She also employs safety and caution and gives specific examples of what some herbs can do (because yes, they really work!)."
"And of course that "new book smell" Just knowing some Herbs and ID'ing them is one thing, but learning ways to actually USE them (aside from plain old tisanes, tinctures and salves) is a real treasure!"
"I fell in love with the book when I read about the herb, rosemary, & her account of her visit to southern France. She recalls hiking down a dusty trail that lead her to beautiful view of the Mediterranean, where she found at her feet a large patch of fragrant and flourishing rosemary. The science alone is intensely interesting to me, but the relational aspect of helping other humans is what makes learning it all truly worth it to me."
"I have been including Rosalee as one of my top 3 go-to Herbalists when researching an herb, its energetics, a symptom, or a constitution."
"I have been trying to learn all that I can about herbs and Rosalee does such a great job of "putting the cookies on the bottom shelf" for those of us that are beginners."
"I see comments about the binding - mine moves freely from the spine, as designed so that the book will lay open."
Based on her expert interpretation of published medical findings, combined with years of experience from her clinical practice, Dr. Brogan illuminates the true cause of depression: it is not simply a chemical imbalance, but a lifestyle crisis that demands a reset. It is a signal that the interconnected systems in the body are out of balance – from blood sugar, to gut health, to thyroid function– and inflammation is at the root. A Mind of Your Own offers an achievable, step-by-step 30-day action plan—including powerful dietary interventions, targeted nutrient support, detoxification, sleep, and stress reframing techniques—women can use to heal their bodies, alleviate inflammation, and feel like themselves again without a single prescription.

Find Best Price at Amazon"The people writing 1 star reviews have clearly never spent weeks of their life confined in a mental hospital, lost jobs, relationships, financial stability or been told they would need to be on medicine for the rest of their life that causes weight gain, kills your thyroid and may result in kidney failure. I waited for months to get into see her and it was truly one of the greatest blessings of my life to begin a doctor-patient relationship with her. As for the people writing 1 star reviews because they do not agree with her stance on vaccines or believe that anti-depressants are the only answer. Do you agree with every belief of your political party or your religion - have you ever disagreed with some information, but agreed with others? As someone who knows Dr. Brogan personally and trusts her with my own healthcare, I can say she deeply cares about the people she is writing this book for and her patients."
"I have recently weaned off of Zoloft, but I don't always feel emotionally in charge, and I am looking for some lifestyle interventions to help. This book DID provide some good suggestions that I am working on putting into practice, and so I give it 3 stars for that. The first section of the book left me feeling hopeless, as she detailed all the ways we're totally screwed in today's world -- nutrient deficient food, agricultural chemicals, environmental toxins, the permanent brain changes associated with all sorts of things we're likely to have already done if we're reading this book... it was, well, depressing. The reasonable stuff: -Eliminating toxic household products makes sense to me, and is actually something I've gradually done over the past few years. I can only imagine it would cost $100 a month or more just in the supplements she recommends, and you'd be popping pills 5x a day. I don't know about you, but I don't have it in my budget to feed my family of 4 nothing but grass fed, organic, 100% whole food meals. She also does not address families, and how to work with picky kids when implementing her diet. Yes, I am working on their eating choices, but I'm not sure it would be fair to my husband and kids to sweep through the kitchen and throw away everything not on her plan. I'd hate to see what would happen if someone spent the $$$ involved in doing all of her suggestions, put their whole being into it, and were still dependent on these drugs to function. It's also noteworthy that she does not mention traumas in life as another possible cause of depression, anxiety, or any other psychiatric condition."

It is a very scary thing to gradually lose some of your important mental capabilities, and there is a resulting tendency among those with dementia to either act out or to withdraw from normal family communications. Find Best Price at Amazon"If you are considering purchasing this book and are reading the reviews (both good and bad) you will quickly see that this book stirs up all kinds of highly emotional responses. When you read this book, it is important to understand that there is an overall concept here that many illnesses and symptoms, that so many suffer from, are a "mystery" to current medical practices. For someone who does a quick read through, with the bias of what most people believe to be true, the information in this book can appear deceivingly simple and perhaps even nothing new. However, if you take the opportunity to read this book with "beginner’s mind" (as one of my best teachers likes to say), you may find that this book has some considerable things to teach. This can be hard to do, and yet, the way this book is suggesting to heal is so brilliant and kind and gentle, that it should actually be the first step that we all take with our bodies. It took me awhile to get it when working with Anthony because it really is a different way to think about healing and what is actually going on in our bodies than we have been told. A practitioner that I went to many years ago told me a story that helped me in my own healing and being able to grasp how important the information in this book is. It is this that Anthony and Spirit are writing about in this book. Since it is a common question in many reviews, I want to clarify that I purchased the book, that I have actually read the book, and I was not offered anything to write this review. I am writing this review because I have experienced firsthand a total transformation from debilitating chronic illness and getting my life back, through the help of Anthony and the Spirit that speaks to him. I went to my physician and told him of my phone call and what Anthony and Spirit had told me and my physician said "you are the 4th patient of mine to talk to this guy and he has been spot on every time." Anthony and Spirit taught me how to take ownership and control over the healing process. The child was under the age of 5 and because both the doctor and Anthony knew that giving antibiotics to a child that young, when they have the flu, could potentially be damaging, they came up with a protocol to help my child through the healing process and keep her safe from harm of any side effects of the two illnesses or potential damaging medications. So yes, I do have a bias, but the bias is that I have experienced firsthand the healing methods laid out in this book and the kind and compassionate nature of Anthony William. Hence, the need to start writing books, and the need to have a staff of people working for him. Anthony William is just one man and there are millions, if not more, who have the potential to be helped by the information in this book."
"I got sick with what could be labeled Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - and a whole lot of other things eventually - just weeks after the floor and after a winter of feeding moldy hay. We bought a full spectrum infrared sauna since Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt highly rec's them for his Lyme patients. Just after the sauna purchase, I saw the free MM chapter on Facebook and followed the link. I was intrigued by the notion that Lyme was really viral and it made sense to me that THAT is why 1) antibiotics fail and in fact can make it worse and (yes, i experienced this) and 2) the sauna would work b/c it raises core body temperature which is then anti-viral. I'm now on day 3 of the cleanse, working on my adrenals, liver, and blood sugar (yup, forgot to mention that but my paleo diet landed me with pre-diabetes). If I didnt get dx with Lyme, I wouldnt have paid any attention to the free chapter. AW has really changed my paradigm as what he knows is often radically different than my ahead-of-the-curve functional medicine training."

I read the online preview and started the diet protocol while waiting for the book to arrive. For the first week my energy was very low but now it is better than ever, staying level throughout the day to the point that I have cut out caffeine as well and feel no need for it."
"I did not do any hydrotherapy or home enemas, but I did a 2-day apple cleanse, cut out all sugar, white flour, nightshades and coffee, and began a regime of Slippery Elm Bark tea in the mornings and lemon water throughout the day. Since then, I have stayed 100% off nightshades but have reintroduced very limited quantities of white flour, sugar and decaf black coffee. A couple notes: ** I found sea salt baths to be helpful as my body healed itself. ** I used a topical prescription treatment to help speed things along (Clobex spray), but I plan to stop using it in the next week or so as I get closer to 100% clear. ** I found Burt's Bees Miracle Salve to be a great product for my nipples. I have since switched to the adult version of Burt's Bees Shampoo and think the gentle formula has been a welcome change for my scalp as it heals. I couldn't commit to the whole list due to personal preference and breastfeeding, but I have been taking 1000mg Flaxseed Oil, 200mg Milk Thistle, a pre/post-natal multi-vitamin (contains Zinc and Vitamin A), and 100mg Colace (stool softener).
