60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Houston: Includes Huntsville, Galveston, and Beaumont
Each chapter serves as both a navigational aide and an interpretive guide to familiarize hikers with wondrous destinations in and around The Bayou City. The most frequent question I was asked was, “Where are you going to find 60 hikes around Houston?” Not only did I find 60 hikes, but I could have added another 10 to 15 hikes if the book were called 75 Hikes Within 75 Miles: Houston. Sims Bayou, Buffalo Bayou, White Oak Bayou, Armand Bayou, and Brays Bayou all have trails and, in many cases, paved and lighted trails that run parallel to each waterway. And, while Houston has subtropical weather in the summer, it also has that same subtropical weather in the winter, making the area ideal for winter hiking.

"But the book does have a really good overview of many of the hikes in the area which is incredibly helpful."
"This book did not have exact addresses of the trail heads to enter into a car GPS device."
"Super to find hikes so close to home."
"The book has good ideas for Houston area hikes."
"This book is exactly what I was looking for!"

The Last Man on the Moon: Astronaut Eugene Cernan and America's Race in Space.
Reviews
"If not for anything else, but to be unafraid to be human and give us commoners a true hero to look up to--not the watered down, politically correct, perfectly groomed specimens that they must be in today's astronaut corps."
"I will definitely be reading this book more than once. I encourage anyone, who has a love for NASA, space, space history, or the moon, to read this book."
"Gene comes across as a skilled, humble and honest man. Too many academics are not humble or honest."
"Whether or not you lived through the Apollo era, you owe it to yourself to re-live this part of American history, when we achieved the unachievable!"
"It would be like Colombus discovers the new world, and Magellen goes around the world a few years later."
"If closing down the NASA program seemed like the right decision or would not make any difference to the advancement of our country's scientific advancement at the time, readers may have a different point of view after reading how Astronaut Cernan's life was changed after returning from the moon."
"This is a very well-written book by one of America's brave lunar voyagers ."
"Nonetheless, I read books like this for three reasons: to be entertained, educated, and inspired! I read this book while traveling to Africa and it made my flight time pass with little pain. That was exciting for me and reminded me that an author's purpose is to engage the reader to be a part of the story."

"Also, many of the online map services still don't have our correct road number & address so that people who use them can't easily locate us! Hopefully the newest updated version of The Roads of Texas (with 15,000 corrections...according to MAPSCO) will have made all of the necessary changes."
"It is still very useful, as our gps doesn't have all the backroads and byways mapped still."
"This Atlas has every interstate, four-lane, two-lane, one-lane road and pig trail known to man."
"This is a wonderful book if you enjoy driving the back roads."
"This is the best Road Atlas for finding the back way to wherever you want to go in Texas."
"good map with all the back roads I love to ride."
"Thanks and God Bless y'all for providing this much appreciated product to our family, friends, etc..."
"Shearer Publishing then put together the individual county maps into this flowing atlas booklet format for the first edition of The Roads of Texas in 1989. I have the 2nd edition (1995, Shearer Publishing) which is awesome and very readable, and the 3rd edition (Mapsco). So there are less scenery markings (not good), and way too many graphic effects, for a double-whammy against the atlas."
