"A must read for everyone with an interest in interior design and/or just wanting to understand how to make their home look better!!"

A unique and fascinating chronicle of the construction and furnishing of an early 20th-century country house, vividly brought to life by letters from the family archive Never-before-published drawings from Horace Trumbauer's architectural office, including the original and revised plans for all three floors, drawings of interior finishes and exterior details related to the main residence, as well as designs for other projects on the estate, including a never-built gate lodge, beautifully represented in Trumbauer's colored rendering More than 400 historic and newly commissioned images and two 8-page gatefolds An intimate portrait that captures the elegant lifestyle of the Montgomerys and the majesty of their beloved home and estate. Real-life American counterparts of the Granthams of Downton Abbey, the Montgomerys are best known as the family on which Philip Barry based his 1939 play, The Philadelphia Story , featuring Katharine Hepburn, who also starred in the later Hollywood film of the same name. He weaves the details of architectural design, furnishings, collections, and the history of a gentleman's farm with wonderful accounts of the people who lived and worked there. A masterwork of patrician American ambition, Ardrossan was built in the very grandest anglophile style, but with all the up-to-the-minute comforts and innovations of modern living and none of the privations of the drafty, poorly plumbed manses across the Atlantic that inspired it. To this day, the distinguished rooms that the architect Horace Trumbauer conceived and the blue-chip decorators White, Allom & Company filled with elegant eighteenth-century recreations are an evocative testament to a long vanished age.

I was so very happy to see succulents included as well as some of my favorite flowers (roses, peonies, hydrangea, orchids, and the list simply goes on and on.). 48 Beautiful Nature grayscale designs with plants, flowers and landscapes. Printed on one side of page. Paper is heavyweight, acid-free, slightly rough, white and perforated. Pages are water-marked on the back with an area for you to sign your projects. Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paper readily. Water-based markers bleed through in tiny spots with the exception of my Tombows brush end markers which did not bleed through in my tests. I could lay down great color, layer, and blend equally well with both wax and oil based pencils."
"Nicole has used heavy paper, printed on one side only with a lovely border around the pictures so that you aren't climbing right up on the binding of the book when you are coloring. Pros: Heavy paper with a nice feel. Detailed, well designed photos for every level. Support for beginners or anyone needing the extra help. Long term entertainment without becoming bored (oh look...another butterfly or mandela). Cons: A bit intimidating at first but take baby steps and it will be ok. No clue how long until her next book."
"Beautiful Nature is just the best follow-on from Nicole Stockers first book, Beautiful Creatures."
"Love, love this book."
"I LOVE this book !"
"I fell in love with Beautiful Creatures but Beautiful Nature turned me into a grayscale addict. The archival paper has superb quality that allowed me to experiment with different kinds of mediums."
