I just wanted to let you guys know that there is a lot of cooking involved with this program. I'm actually tired of cooking, which is why I started making large meals to freeze for the week. I has been approximately four days since my previous review and I lost an additional 2 pounds on this journey. Update: So I just finished Day 23 of my Whole30 Journey and I feel good, aside from the fact that I caught a cold. I then measured myself and noted that I lost a total of 31.5 inches (-5" from chest, -2" from right arm, -3.5" from left arm, -8" from waist, -5" from hips, -4" from right thigh, and -4" from left thigh). I plan to have a celebratory dinner tonight (likely a gluten free pizza from papa Murphy's), then I will start my second round of whole30 tomorrow."
"i lost so much weight on this diet, did it for like a year."
"(Confession: I used to work out everyday but once I started the program I didn't have enough time to exercise so no, I didn't reach these results from hitting the gym; it's all about food.). You should give the program 100% effort and if you are too stressed, busy, or just don't have the time to make all of this homemade food you will probably get discouraged and fall off track."
"As one girl whined and moaned about not being able to chew gum, I naturally took that as a challenge and thought: I'll do this Whole30 and not be such a baby about it. I gained confidence, learned that I do have the ability to say "no" to food cravings, discovered a myriad of new recipes, cured all of my PCOS symptoms (regular menstrual cycles for the first time in ten years and no cysts), and as a bonus, dropped 2 pants sizes. As a child, I was in and out of the hospital with stomach pains and problems (I'll spare all the details) and after following Melissa & Dallas' Whole30, I ate sans stomach aches for the first time EVER. For my entire life eating a meal meant some level of pain/discomfort while my food digested. (Confession: I did, in fact, walk back and forth from my kitchen to my coffee table while I cooked tonight because I didn't want to risk getting food on the new pages. (If all else fails, you'll have a stunning book on display to let all your guests see how "healthy" you are.)."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I bought this book in January 2016, after hearing an interview with Dr. Greger on a podcast. At first I found it hard to read, but not because it difficult or confusing, but because it was changing everything I thought I knew about food. By May 2016 I was miserable with my rash and still sitting at 204 lbs, despite my healthy lifestyle and consuming 1500 calories a day."
"for the person that wants to dig deeper, but in a style that has become uniquely his, Dr Greger uses quoted language from the papers to give an unitimidating explanation of the science contained within. He stands almost alone in a mass media that can't seem to get past the catchy titles, abstracts, and carefully worded, often misleading conclusions. The first 15 chapters (how not to die from..cancers, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, etc..) are arranged based on easy to recognize conditions and though they are related can be read completely independent from one another. The book doesn't follow a chronology, so I found myself flipping through an early review copy reading small sections at a time. He doesn't give in to gluten or coconut oil just because it is popular or profitable and while some might find it frustrating, he sticks to the entire body of evidence not the latest single study. Finally, his "Daily Dozen" is a great place to begin implementing the message of bountiful health he enjoys teaching to anyone that will listen. In spite of all the economic momentum for more profitable and popular food, each year hundreds of articles surface on the benefits of adding more plant-based nutrition to one's diet for health and Dr Michael Greger seems to find them all."
"For the same price that would get me a week in the Caribbean sun, lying on deck of a cruise ship drinking margaritas, listening to reggae music and watching the waves go by, I was going to get a lighted probe stuck up my butt. The closer we stick to that, the healthier we become, and the more our bodies revert to their natural state of robust health rather than the sickly, wimpy physiques resulting from the Standard American Diet (SAD). The books' greatest strength is the thorough and objective research combined with Dr. Greger's ability to break complex and extensive information down into a language that even those of us artsy types who tried to dodge science in school can understand."

"I've been doing THM since January of this year (2017 - so about 9 months as of this writing) and have lost close to 70 lbs. They all helped me lose weight for the time I could stick to them - and any diet will do that - but I could never stay with them for more than a few weeks. I grew up in the North but I wish I was from the South, I somehow got a Southern soul - give me some good old fashioned corn bread, butter, mashed potatoes, sour cream, mac n' cheese, fried green tomatoes, pecan pie, beignets, fried chicken, sweet tea... yum. The fuel pull peanut butter muffins with chocolate sauce are such a yummy treat and how awesome to know it's not laden with carbs or fat or calories. One thing I would mention - if you're new to this - you can't go into thinking that these recipes are going to taste EXACTLY like all the sugar-laden, carb-loaded junk we love (I would say this especially about the desserts and other items that would normally have mashed potatoes, lasagna noodles, regular noodles, etc.). For example, as I mentioned, the Wonderful White Blender Bread is great, and I've loved being able to have BLTs or cheese and tomato sandwiches on it. are not lasagna noodles no matter how hard you try to pretend (huge disappointment). The Not-Naughty Noodles are really pretty good and not as noticeable of a change in some recipes (i.e. chicken spaghetti). BUT, it was a good way for me to get that yummy taste of chocolatey, whipped cream and pie crust in a healthier version. And that's where the weighing of your options comes in - I want my health and my body in better shape more than I want In N Out Burger (although I will have In N Out with no bun the next time I'm in the vicinity of a restaurant!)."
"However, thanks to THM and these recipes which teach you how to eat healthy without ever feeling deprived, I have been able (FINALLY) to lose weight and regain my health!"
"This book is a bit less preachy than their other (first book) and I like the format better. THM eating can be quite expensive with all of the special ingredients (that they now offer for sale on their site and Amazon, of course . Hopefully their next book will be THM for the lazy, the overworked, and/or the sparetime-challenged."

"And listen to it, because it knows what it needs to be healthy, and it knows what’s good for you. Instead of urging me listen to an authority figure speaking from on high about what I need to do for my body, this book takes a totally different approach. This book teaches me to understand that the ultimate authority on what is good for my body is my body itself... and teaches me how to listen to the wisdom my body wants to share with me. I don’t need to consult a book to know what those are (not even this book). In fact, this book doesn’t give you a standard list of foods you “should” eat at all... because the book’s whole point is that YOUR BODY will tell you what it needs to eat. And indeed, I know very well what my body does and doesn’t need to eat, but I hadn’t been listening because what I knew didn’t match with what “experts” were saying I SHOULD eat. This book will take you on a journey in which you will learn that your body is not the enemy, a foe to be subdued."

"I recommend it for anyone interested in cleaning up their diet in a sane manner using food one actually enjoys!"
"If you have any sort of health issue, you may find something in this book that will help."

"This book made me look at my nutrition choices and my body differently and more consentiously."
"The author definitely took the time to go within the self and discover how to be guided not by what the world tells you to do, but by what one's own body needs."
Best Nutrition for Cancer Prevention
What if scientists are chasing a flawed paradigm, and cancer isn’t a disease of damaged DNA but rather of defective metabolism as a result of mitochondrial dysfunction ? In this groundbreaking guide, the first of its kind, New York Times best-selling author and leading natural-health practitioner Joseph Mercola explains how nearly all disease is caused by defective metabolic processes. Then he reveals what’s really causing your metabolism to go haywire: damage and dysfunction in the mitochondria, thousands of which are at work in nearly every cell in your body, generating 90 percent of the energy you need to stay alive and well. This is a life-changing text that not only provides a deep dive into why choosing fat as our primary fuel source powerfully correlates with health and disease resistance, but also delivers in terms of how the reader can easily bring about this fundamentally important change. Mercola’s science-based refutation of this status quo provides a welcome and compassionate response, allowing readers to regain and maintain optimal health.”. “This remarkable book presents a truly revolutionary program that can help millions of people achieve optimal health. Dr. Mercola clearly explains the importance of mitochondria for metabolic function and carefully guides his readers with detailed practical advice for enhancing their activity. Dr. Mercola is one of the few who have properly understood and embraced my long-standing belief that one’s health and lifespan is mostly determined by the proportion of fat versus sugar one burns over a lifetime. But one thing has become increasingly evident over the past decade: teaching our bodies to use fat instead of glucose as the main fuel source has immense potential to support patients suffering from some of the most devastating chronic diseases. Dr. Mercola’s Fat for Fuel will be an invaluable resource for me in two ways: personally, because I’m a cancer patient myself striving to create an environment that will keep my disease at bay, but also professionally as a nutritional therapist. “ Fat for Fuel is required reading for anyone wishing to radically and expeditiously address a current health crisis and also for those of us seeking to ameliorate genetic predispositions as we age.”. — Travis Christofferson , author of Tripping over the Truth: How the Metabolic Theory of Cancer Is Overturning One of Medicine’s Most Entrenched Paradigms. With so much conflicting information in the nutrition world, this book serves as a critical resource for every physician in training or in practice, and for every person eager to avoid the need for those doctors.”. This is an extremely valuable guidebook for those seeking to understand and implement transformational dietary changes to boost their metabolic and cellular function. In his book Fat for Fuel , Joe Mercola has given us a practical blueprint for how to revive our mitochondria using diet as a powerful foundation, with a few other added simple tools, such as intermittent fasting, exercise, light therapy, and some supplemental nutrients. Dr. Mercola tested the Mitochondrial Metabolic Therapy recommendations he makes in this book on himself, with many months of trials and errors and continuous glucose monitoring. I highly endorse Fat for Fuel as the most practical do-it-yourself guide available today for people to take back control of their health and resolve chronic illnesses.”. In this pathbreaking book, Dr. Joseph Mercola goes a critical step further, revealing that using fat as your main fuel source can heal your body at a mitochondrial level, restoring energy and well-being and even helping fight cancer and other diseases. , #1 New York Times best-selling author of Eat Fat Get Thin and Director of the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Functional Medicine. This book will contribute greatly toward our health goals for our entire population as more and more health-care professionals wake up to this understanding of the importance of optimizing mitochondrial metabolism. Mercola is a deep thinker with a passion for seeking knowledge about the inner workings of the human body and an open mind about the role of successful alternative treatments that have hard evidence behind them. With medical science understanding more and more how mitochondrial dysfunction leads to chronic disease, Dr. Mercola provides a simple, natural healing plan with this important new book.”. Dr. Mercola is at the forefront of this exciting revolution, and this book gives you both the theoretical basis and practical suggestions for supporting your mitochondria and regaining better health. The book defies the status quo and reveals the truth behind everything from why fasting is a healthy habit to why you need to become a fat-burning machine. This book is a must-read if you want to optimize your body and brain while systematically eliminating a host of risk factors for chronic disease.”. “In a bold voice and in plain language, Dr. Mercola continues his role as nutrition pioneer for America and the world. “ Fat for Fuel consolidates the latest cutting-edge metabolic discoveries into an easy-to-follow system for optimizing your health at the cellular level. My hope is that this book will produce the tipping point leading to needed changes in our collective thinking about the power of nutrition as medicine. This important book teaches principles most people have not yet heard and extends its reach beyond the small group of practitioners around the world who are already utilizing these methods. Not only does this page-turner highlight the need for fat in our diet, it shows us how to prepare our bodies to process and utilize it most efficiently—a key ingredient in the overall strategy to attain optimal health.”. I’ve read hundreds of nutrition books over my lifetime but this one is my favorite and the one I know will make the biggest impact on your health if you have the commitment to follow it to the letter.

Find Best Price at Amazon"I have done low carb in the past and experienced good short term results but this feels different. I purchased the ketosis test sticks on amazon (about $10) and on about my 6th day it was a medium color purple. That's obviously really good (I don't care if its water weight--it is 11 lbs less i'm hauling around), but what is more satisfying is how hunger and cravings go away. I think what helped me get into moderate ketosis is that I cut out all added sugar immediately and all flour. My goal is net 40 grams of carbs, but I'm probably closer to 30grams (I track everything on an online app). My diet has consisted mainly of the following (prepared varioius ways for different meals) eggs, avocado, berries, hemp protein powder, olives, olive oil, mct oil, beef/chicken/fish, macadamia nuts, pumpkin/sunflower seeds riced cauliflower/broccoli, kale/spinach, onions and garlic and spices. I do an 18 hr fast each day (6pm-Noon) and eating as recommended in the book makes it easy."
"Dr. Joseph Mercola's Fat For Fuel is a MUST read - even if you think you do not agree with the concept of eating fat (instead of copious carbohydrates)."
"Once again, Dr. Mercola takes a multitude of information and states it in a way that we can all understand and apply to our lives for better health and healing. Back in 1997 I stumbled upon his website and thought that he might just know what he's talking about because he sounds like my Grandma (who learned from reading Adelle Davis) and he spoke of things that I was just starting to be concerned with. As a registered nurse I have witnessed the pain and suffering endured by my patients and their families while the pharmaceutical companies and for-profit medical community thrive. I have been fired countless times for being a strong patient advocate and empowering my patients to do their research and question their doctors, to not give up the fight, to not settle for unanswered questions and ill health because we CAN heal ourselves or AT LEAST reduce the suffering in the worst case scenarios. (Bad enough that no one ever tells the patients to fast for 12 hours before a cholesterol test, but then to not even give them an accurate explanation of those results is a sin in the highest degree)."

Fiber Menace is for people who believe fiber prevents cancers, reduces the risk of heart disease, regulates blood sugar, wards off diabetes, lowers appetite, induces weight loss, cleanses the colon, and eliminates constipation.Tragically, none of it is true, and Fiber Menace explains why it's the complete opposite. Here are some of the most striking examples:- Fiber doesn't ward off colon cancer, according to the Harvard School of Public Health: "For years, Americans have been told to consume a high-fiber diet to lower the risk of colon cancer [...] Larger and better-designed studies have failed to show a link between fiber and colon cancer." The author's detailed description of the trauma imposed to the gastrointestinal mucosa by the expanding fiber is a vivid reminder that returning to the basics of GI function and logically thinking through what our bodies actually are designed to do with the food we eat, should be the first step on anyone's journey to recovery from digestive disorders.

"A fabulously informative book for those seeking knowledge on how to achieve optimal digestive function, and a must read for those interested in the repair and recovery of the entire GI system."
"Today I can have 2-3 bowel movements every 24 hours thanks in large part to a low fiber diet of eggs, rice, soups, meat, and vrggie/fruit juice. I stil have a lot of one of Monastyrsky's products (Ageless Hydro C) but I haven't even had to use it except after business trips when I've been eating junk food with my coworkers. If I had listened to that doctor instead of discovering this book, I honestly believe I would have ended up comitting suicide after having at least part of my colon removed. I should also mention that daily vitamins, probiotic pills and vegetable juice have played a large part in my return to normal health (and I do drink hot green tea morning and night even though the author discourages it). I am sure there was some irreversible damage done to my colon as the urge to go is never as strong as it used to be when I was a kid but thank you for giving me my life back, Dr. Monastyrsky."

Readers will be inspired by his intensity and clarity, and floored by how far some counterfeiters go to fool consumers and some historic food institutions go to protect their products and their names. Find Best Price at Amazon"Our household is very careful about the food we buy, which is why I was quite interested in this book by Mr. Olmstead. So I was hopeful this book would not only provide a sort of guide map for selecting high quality foods, but would also either reassure me that the organic brand is worth while, or dissuade me from spending the extra cash on organic labeled products. I think this book speaks more to the food preferences of Mr. Olmstead than a more comprehensive treatment of the thousands of food products you'll find in a typical grocery store. His often long ramblings about regional culture, specific farms and villages, his travels and his food experiences tended to obscure what I was looking for based on the title of the book."
"He covers quite a few different food items, including beef, seafood, cheese, alcoholic drinks--even fruit juice. The frauds are especially concentrated in "special foods which for the first time in 2014 topped one hundred billion dollars in the United States. This category is rife with scams, including many foods viewed as healthier choices, as well as fancy cheeses, meats, oils, and other “gourmet” items." For example, he spends a lot of time documenting how "Parmesan" Cheese sold in the U.S. is so much different than the actual, original product. He notes how he made numerous efforts to try to get the FDA to pay attention--but they refused to even grant him an interview, despite their promises. "Federal regulations require (as in mandatory, not optional) the FDA to inspect less than 2 percent of imported seafood , hardly a rigorous analysis . Still, in 2013, inspectors managed to achieve barely a quarter of that incredibly low threshold—and their poor performance has been getting shoddier annually, down from the year before." For example, he notes that the "big box" retailers do a good job at removing fake products--simply because they have so much clout."
"It’s disturbing, disgraceful, and demoralizing that consumers everywhere are not more protected, but especially Americans, who take such pride in our agencies such as the FDA who are supposed to act in our interests."
"Only problem now is that I no longer trust what it says on restaurant menus!"
"Great book--really opened my eyes to how bad and tainted our food supply here is."
"Fascinating and informative."
"This book is a real eye-opener about the food we eat and the products that are misrepresented."

This book introduced me to two concepts that were critical: Functional medicine, and Hashimoto's Gluten sensitivity. This led to several significant changes. The second came when I started looking for functional medicine doctors in Austin, TX and following the supplementation suggestions put forward in this book. Empty Stomach (AM): - Licorice drops. - Probiotic. - Saccharomyces Boulardii. Lunch: - Glutamine. - Methyl B12 (my Dr suspects a MTHFR gene mutation; regular B12 wasn't helping but this works great). - NAC. - Zinc (this was huge for me; gave me lots more energy). - Selenium. Bedtime: - Magnesium. - CoQ10. - Probiotic. - Fish Oil w/vitamin D. Many of these don't have to be taken with food and the order could be switched up. I'd recommend chatting with your doctor about lab work for vitamin deficiencies and reading Dr. Wentz's supplement guide."
"I've read the Stop The Thyroid Madness site, Mary Shamon's thyroid-info website, Dr. Alexander Haskell's book, Dr. Datiz Kharrazian's book and his diet recommendations, read what Jack Kruse has to say... I'm so thrilled to have this book, it still seems too good to be true! :). I would suggest though, if there is ever a second printing, and an updated version, that the author include more advice/info on finding a good functional/integrative/holistic Dr. to work with, which testing is available and from which labs, how to navigate testing solo or with your Dr., etc."

Best Genetically Engineered Food Nutrition
It tells the fascinating and frequently astounding story of how the massive enterprise to restructure the genetic core of the world's food supply came into being, how it advanced by consistently violating the protocols of science, and how for more than three decades, hundreds of eminent biologists and esteemed institutions have systematically contorted the truth in order to conceal the unique risks of its products–and get them onto our dinner plates. “Steven Druker has written a great book that could well be a milestone in the endeavor to establish a scientifically sound policy on genetically engineered foods. “Steven Druker has done a beautiful job of weaving a compelling scientific argument into an engaging narrative that often reads like a detective story, and he makes his points dramatically and clearly. The examination of genetic engineering from the standpoint of software engineering is especially insightful, exposing how the former is more like a ‘hackathon’ than a careful, systematic methodology for revising complex information systems. “Based on over 30 years of teaching computer science at universities and on extensive experience as a programmer in private industry, I can state that Steven Druker has done an excellent job of demonstrating the recklessness of the current practices of genetic engineering in comparison to the established practices of software engineering. His book presents a striking contrast between the two fields, showing how software engineers progressively developed greater awareness of the inherent risks of altering complex information systems – and accordingly developed more rigorous procedures for managing them – while genetic technicians have largely failed to do either, despite the fact that the information systems they alter are far more complex, and far less comprehended, than any human-made system.” --Ralph Bunker, PhD. “Steven Druker has written one of the few books I have encountered, in my many years of public interest work, with the capacity to drive major change in a major issue. What Ralph Nader’s Unsafe at Any Speed was to the auto industry and what Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring was to synthetic pesticides, Altered Genes, Twisted Truth will be to genetically engineered food.

Domingo, editor in chief of the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology—both found that about half of the studies reviewed linked GMO consumption to health risks."
"The book points out that if the FDA had heeded its own experts’ advice and publicly acknowledged their warnings that GM foods entailed higher risks than their conventional counterparts, the GM food venture would have imploded and never gained traction anywhere.I was completely shocked by what I read."
"I liked the sections on how exactly these organisms are manipulated, because armed with this information one is far better placed to deal with the rest of the information in the book, and also better armed and informed about how and why these things are just so scary and unproven. Read the book, get informed, change your life."
"Prior to reading this book, I was already relatively well educated about GMOs."

This book teaches you how to change your body from a sugar-burner to a fat burner, which is what you are when you are in ketosis. Ketosis is when your body no longer is using carbs as its fuel source but fat. This book showed me that fat is integral for your success of achieving ketosis and proper fat-burning. Once in a while I will get hungry and want to turn to a quick carb anything but have learned to have nuts, cheese, etc. I do not crave sugar that much anymore and if I do I have learned incredible replacement recipes that take care of it. Here are some interesting things I have eaten and even adapted "my own" versions from: Buttered Coffee!! Peanut butter shake, chocolate covered nuts, my adaptation of one recipe is lemon coconut chocolate cheesecake....this is so good and it does not taste "diet" at all!! Its easy recipes have allowed me to immediately start this way of eating unlike some other books where you have to build up a huge food list before you can really begin."

"After purchasing this book and attempting 10 different recipes, I realized that most of the people who gave this book great reviews got it at either a discount price or free!? I've been on the KETO diet for 3 months and while I LOVE the diet, In an attempt to find more ways to cook different meals, I set out to purchase cook books to assist my journey. Being on the keto diet is expensive for me cause I am buying better quality ingredients however, I've wasted a lot of them on this book."

I've looked into the GAPS diet, the paleo diet, the autoimmune paleo diet, and researched intestinal permeability and how to heal it.

Find Best Price at Amazon"So I quit my job and school and took time off, expecting to recuperate within a few months. I suffered severe chemical and mold sensitivities and began to develop hives. I'm not a dramatic person by nature, but I assure you, some days I wasn't sure how much sicker one could get before the body just gave up altogether. Finally, a few months ago I happened upon some website extolling the GAPS diet. I looked into it but figured I was already eating a clean (mostly) paleo diet, so I didn't need to buy this book. When I had to stay home on Christmas day because I felt so toxic and crummy, I decided to purchase the book. I had been toxic for so long that I was used to feeling lousy, but the die-off this diet produced was intense. The diet alone, even without the introduction of probiotics, sauerkraut, and kefir was enough to produce rapid die-off. However, since starting GAPS I have stopped taking the majority of my supplements, simply because I no longer need them. At long last, my diet is providing the nutrients my body has been needing all along for repair (particularly cholesterol and saturated fats, which are sadly demonized in our culture). I probably sound like a crazy person because I'm so, so excited about this book and this diet; but if you're sick like I was, you know all too well what it's like to live in a chronically ill body. Because I'm having such rapid success on the intro phase, I intend to stick with it for a few months. That's the nice thing about this diet; you move at your own pace and let your body be the guide. I'm also curious to see how this diet helps me with the mental health issues I've contended with since childhood (namely fits of debilitating anxiety, ocd, and depression that have become increasingly severe in the last few years). I had tried several SSRI's over the last ten years until a new doctor put me on Adderall (which is nothing more than a mixture of amphetamine salts and is very, very hard on the adrenals) after diagnosing me with ADHD. Reading success stories of people recovering from CFS is what got me through the worst moments. I hope my story does the same, and I will update again in a few months as I progress along my GAPS journey. I no longer seem to be affected by pollen, which in previous years gave me terrible allergies and sinus infections. I've lost 15 pounds and walk an hour or more just about daily in addition to my chores around the house. There has been no improvement on the mental stuff yet; in fact, the die-off seems to be temporarily making it much worse. I'm experiencing new die-off symptoms (caused by breaking up biofilm in my gut with probiotics and systemic enzymes, I believe) like visual disturbances, rosacea and other rashes, adrenaline rushes, numbness/tingling/burning in my extremities. I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to have some relief from this torment for the first time in over ten years (most of my adult life). It takes a long time to undo decades' worth of damage. In my case, after the infection is gone, I will still need to detox, fix my adrenals completely, get my metabolic hormones back in order, and perhaps chelate. Thanks to all of you who have commented or contacted me over the past year; it's been wonderful swapping stories and information. I am still quite toxic but can now tolerate an infrared sauna, which is great for detox, every other day. The little things that used to require so much effort are back to being a routine part of my life, i.e. doing my hair, wearing make-up, etc. There are still periods every few weeks of fatigue and die-off, where my IBS symptoms act up, anxiety and brain fog skyrocket, and I feel rough. I have read most of the other reviews here, and I am so happy about and moved by how much this diet is helping people with chronic, so-called "untreatable" conditions."
"I initially picked up this book because it had been getting discussion on an autism parenting group that I belong to. I started to learn about the diet by reading information online, then decided it was potentially worth pursuing further and purchased the book. However, as I read the book, I realized that I needed to try this diet for my own issues as well, extreme PMS and major digestive issues (which turned out to be ulcerative colitis, as diagnosed via colonoscopy 3 months after I had started the diet). There are a few other foods we typically don't eat much of either, based on working with a Nurse Practitioner who is also GAPS Certified. My daughter was sick with strep throat multiple times a year as well as extreme sinus issues. The doctors were urging us to have her tonsils and adenoids removed, yet could not guarantee that would solve the issue. After I got my colitis diagnosis, I held off taking the medication for 4.5 months, thinking that the diet would "cure" me. And then I recently started a high dose of prescription probiotics, which has helped even more. Just for my daughter and me, I typically have 3 loads of dishes in the dishwasher throughout the day, plus all the things that need to be hand washed. When we were on Intro Diet, I would have between 3 and 5 loads of dishwasher dishes going plus all the things that had to be hand washed. However, I know a few adults that are on this diet without the considerations of a child, and they also complain about the work it takes, and the several loads of dishes to clean each day. I wish that Dr. Natasha (author of GAPS Diet), would stress that it can be beneficial to seek out additional, more personalized medical advice. There is an additional website with more up to date information that needs to be checked fairly often for updates. How in the world do you explain to an 8 year old child who has been slowly going through Intro Diet and has been doing this for a year that you are going to have to backtrack and spend 6+ months only eating broth, boiled meats and boiled vegetables, and raw egg yolks. This diet is very emotional and I find that even being farther along on it that I tend to have low morale with all the work and being exhausted with it. When we initially started this diet, the information was to move through the stages once you no longer see "reactions" or symptoms improve. And now all of the sudden the information is that if certain things have not improved, go back and stay in Stage 2 for 6+ months. And, it is important to know that the diet also draws heavily from Traditional Dietary guidelines as put forth by the Weston A. Price Foundation (google that), along with the cookbook Nourishing Traditions (can be found on amazon). Although not specifically addressing the same issues, there are many more Paleo blogs with recipes online than GAPS. Paleo recipes sometimes require some easy modification of either leaving out an ingredient or two or substituting."

Pictured below: 1) Huevos Rancheros – p6, with Enchilada Sauce – p8, and Pico De Gallo – p23. She has you make them in those cute little disposable tins if you’re going to freeze them. One is to add a red bell pepper, and my husband had just brought one in from the garden, so that went in, too. I am embarrassed to say that I was wondering what sort of bowls Ree had that these 4 servings could fit in. It's a make ahead and just needs 40 minutes in the oven when you're ready."
"There is also several sections on different types of side dishes and even desserts so readers can mix and match main dishes with the sides and desserts they like to make a complete meal. I was especially pleased with the section on freezer meals. While basic and certainly not an attempt to be a treatise on the subject, this section gives readers the opportunity to prepare staples to keep frozen and then provides several different ways that those frozen staples can be used to make different meals."

When you walk into an ER and the doctors remember you and know how to treat you off of their memory it is pretty sad. My other friend no longer clears his throat that he did repeatedly for 10 years. in fact, after three months of being on type O strictly if I have something with corn starch my body and my friend's body reacts immediately...head pressure, sinus pressure it is crazy. Not all avoid foods will my body react to dramatically but there are key ones it will and I am like I should not have eaten that. I love pizza with just a little olive oil, crushed garlic, feta, spinach, no sauce, kalamata olives, maybe some red onions...my favorite...before I loved cheese pizza but not no more. My body literally craves type O food it is absolutely mind blowing. I bought the app on my iPhone so when in the grocery store I just quickly look up an item as type O can have mushrooms but some mushrooms are on my avoid list so I just click on the app as I can never remember which one and know immediately what to buy and what not too."
"I first found this book in high school and my mom said I was an A blood type so I concentrated on vegetarian foods. I was happy to do this because it was in the 90's and all my teen magazines promoted low fat and vegetarian diets and of course, I wanted to be like the models. He was so sure that I had it, he sent me to another hospital in another town to have the test retaken because he thought the staff was bad at the first place. Of course, dietetic school said this was a fad diet so I went on a dietary guidelines plan. 'Fast forward a year out of school, I discovered the paleo diet and my whole world was better. My mom was managing a health food store at the time and she had blood type supplements on her shelf. He loves protein shakes and I don't push meat on him because I know your body will naturally like what it needs. I saw 5 OBGYN's and I told them all my theory that I was reacting to the blood of the baby and they all thought I was nuts. After I delivered I still believed the reason I was so sick in pregnancy was because of the blood type difference. Years later I read in one of Dr. D Adamo's books that he supports that theory of the most difficult pregnancies are usually type O mom's with A babies because they are opposite in dietary needs."
"I advocate the diet and the book."

The Plant Paradox shows the world what pioneer thinking is about and is a must-read book for anyone interested in being as healthy as nature has designed them to be.” — Alejandro Junger MD , New York Times bestselling author of Clean, Clean Gut and Clean Eats. Americans spend billions of dollars on gluten-free diets in an effort to protect their health. Once ingested, they incite a kind of chemical warfare in our bodies, causing inflammatory reactions that can lead to weight gain and serious health conditions. At his waitlist-only clinics in California, Dr. Gundry has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients suffering from autoimmune disorders, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases with a protocol that detoxes the cells, repairs the gut, and nourishes the body. Whether you’re paleo, gluten-free, low-carb or plant-based, Dr. Gundry’s profound insights and practical advice will help reverse both autoimmune and neurodegenerative disease.” ( Terry Wahls, MD, author of The Wahls Protocol: A Radical New Way to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions Using Paleo Principles ). “Once in a generation a doctor and a book comes along that completely changes the way we think about food and our health. Dr. Gundry is that physician and The Plant Paradox is that book.

Find Best Price at Amazon"Steven R. Gundry, MD, a distinguished heart disease physician, researcher, and inventor, has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients with the Plant Paradox Program (PPP) or Keto Plant Paradox Intensive Care Program—nutritional treatments he created. After about 30 days, I suffered from bouts of burping and farting for about ten days—symptoms caused by withdrawing from my unhealthy diet and starting a healthy one. One way to view this book is as Dr. Gundry's prescription for people interested in being as healthy as possible. For example, I checked all of the salad dressings in two health food stores and couldn't find an acceptable one. Good news: Patricia suggests ways to economize (from her Comment on her 04/27/2017 review). "Buying a pressure cooker to make them [legumes] safe to eat would pay for itself; beans are so inexpensive, and can replace more of the expensive pastured, grass-fed, and wild-caught animal proteins." "Make omega-3 eggs a large percentage of the animal protein you get - fortunately these are more and more available at supermarkets for about $5 a dozen, sometimes even less." More bad news: Avoid sugar, agave, Splenda, NutraSweet, Sweet 'n Low, cows' milk, diet drinks, maltodextrin. Some excerpts: grass-fed and grass-finished beef and lamb; humanely raised pork; wild game; pastured chicken, turkey, duck; pastured or omega-3 eggs; wild-caught Alaskan salmon, Alaskan halibut, freshwater bass, shrimp, crab; red wine (6 oz./day); goat cheese; coconut yogurt; broccoli; brussels sprouts; cauliflower; kale; napa cabbage; spinach; red and green leaf lettuce; romaine; limited amounts of blueberries, raspberries, apples, cherries, peaches, crispy pears, etc. The value of this book is enhanced by its meal plans for the PPP's three phases, an abundance of recipes, a comprehensive index, and a flowing writing style. Dr. Gundry has made a once-in-a-generation, groundbreaking contribution to our knowledge of diet's role in reversing and preventing both minor and major diseases. Also, the pain in my left hip changed from "greatly improved" to completely disappeared."
"Exercise is valuable to your health but likely will not lead to significant weight loss unless you are grossly overweight. Over the past 30 years I have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome – with all its gory effects, and recently it seemed to be getting worse. Mind you, we eat very carefully in our house – small portions, little pasta, no junk food, no pizza, no fried chicken or fried food or any kind, no canned goods, no ice cream or big desserts, no beer, no sodas or diet sodas. In performing more research, I discovered and read Dr. Raphael Kellman’s book “The Microbiome Diet, and also listened to a video of Dr. Terry Wahls’. Fifteen years ago, I gave up muffins and granola (mostly carbohydrates) for breakfast. I was so proud of myself for switching to one small piece of 7-grain toast with natural nutty peanut butter, a banana, and a glass of milk (in addition to coffee) for breakfast. Ditto for the BBQ-baked beans I had come to have with every dinner, not to mention the small helping each night of mustard potato salad that I had with my corn and grain-fed meat loaded with antibiotics! I am now a believer in Dr. Gundry’s diet and more important, the power of his scientifically documented medical knowledge and health recommendations. On May 7th and 8th I sort of eased into his diet – starting with taking Dr. Gundry’s Vital Reds supplements. My goal over the next few months is to get to about 172 pounds, a weight that I was comfortable with for about 20 years a long time ago. In addition, even in this short amount of time, my IBS symptoms have lessened dramatically, my skin isn’t as dry, and I seem to be feeling pretty good! I find I like them a lot better mixed with additional foods like red onions, vinegar, and the like. I will update this review every couple of months to keep you all appraised of my progress and the benefits to me of my new Dr. Gundry diet. July 7, 2017. I thought I’d give interested readers an update on my 60 days on Dr. Gundry’s diet. Every day, at a minimum, I have a green smoothie, a hard-boiled egg, and Dr. Gundry’s turkey chorizo sausage and spinach muffin, plus various meats and fish protein, along with his recommended vegetables. I must say, though, it’s a bit tougher to stay on Gundry’s limit of 6 ounces of red wine per evening! Scallops and shrimp are especially easy to cook – just fry them in avocado oil with a bit of garlic. That makes it fast and easy to pull four leftover jumbo shrimps or a chicken thigh out of the fridge the next day for lunch, along with a smoothie and a cup of yogurt. My doctor recommended MiraLAX, or you could take Metamucil, but raw vegetables and/or flaxseed and/or prune juice are better for you. Her book has more specifics on blood marker numbers, nutritional content of foods, and some great recipes. After reading Dr. Wahls’ book, I am changing my B12 pills to sublingual ones, and adding CoQ (Qunol’s Ubiquinol) and Emerald Sea’s seaweed powder to my daily intake. I was particularly interested to read about Dr. Wahls’ progress from a “conventionally trained” MD to a practitioner of the much more holistic functional medicine. As far as I know, Dr. Gundry’s, Dr. Wahls’, and perhaps Dr. Raphael Kellman’s current books represent the state-of-the-art in functional medicine regarding self-healing through diet."
