Combining scrupulous scholarship and profound artistic vision, Schenker achieved an edition which is universally admired by musicians and scholars. This edition will be welcomed by all pianists, both professional and amateur, for its accuracy and reliability; it is highly desirable for instruction, study, reference, and enjoyment. The triumphant genius of Ludwig van Beethoven (17701827) casts a long shadow over classical music no other composer of the past two centuries has exercised an influence more profound than his.

"I could never really usee those because it was not easy to open and read, since this is a huge work (32 sonatas make a gross volume very impractical)."
"Easy to read, no mistakes that i can hear."
"Excellent urtext edition of this wonderful works."
"The famous musicologist Heinrich Schenker is known for his extreme attention to detail, including, for example, the directions of the stems (which other Urtext editions are not)."
"I love playing this and trying to sightread some of the movements."
This charming and interactive picture book with its panel of 19 sound buttons is like a ticket to a concert hall, taking readers on a journey from the exciting first moment when the musicians begin tuning up to the end of the first movement (attention newcomers: don’t clap yet!). Kids will want to match their voices to the A note that tunes the orchestra, dance to the rhythmic passages—and, of course, sing along to da-da-da- daah ! “An ideal way to introduce children to the magic of music—delightful, charming, wonderfully entertaining, beautifully illustrated.” —Gerard Schwarz, Music Director, the All-Star Orchestra. Best Strauss, Richard
Richard Strauss' fifteen operas, which span the years 1893 to 1941, make up the largest German operatic legacy since Wagner's operas of the nineteenth century. Richard Strauss' fifteen operas make up the largest German operatic legacy since Wagner's operas of the nineteenth century.

No other German composer of the time embraced all three, least of all in one work.”. A surprising amount of the source material on Strauss has never been translated into English: Strauss’s youthful letters, his letters to Clemens Kraus and Josef Gregor, for example, so Gillam’s quoting of them, sometimes at length, sheds new light on the subject. Equally valuable (and new) are the results of his own exploration of the Strauss archives and quoting (sometimes for the first time in English, so far as I know), from Strauss’s diaries, his wife Pauline’s diaries, as well as the odd find that any writer prays to uncover, like a memo from Joseph Goebbels admonishing Strauss, “The world is not as you see it from your Garmisch study.”. The discussions of Strauss’s tonal structure of each opera will, obviously, be more meaningful for musicians, but Gilliam’s writing is so clear that anyone can understand the basic points he’s making."
"Calling Strauss a musical atheist, Gilliam points out that Strauss rejected the Wagnerian concept of redemption by love with Salome which ends with the deaths of the "redeemer" and the "redeemee"."
"I have always loved the music of Richard Strauss and have therefore always relied on the scholarship of Bryan Gilliam to interpret and guide me through the works of this complex composer."
"Gilliam's new book is the state of the art account on the operas of Strauss and also perhaps the best book and most concise account of the composers life. I would say that it is the best available book for a reader who really wants to understand Strauss the man as well as Strauss the composer."

Best Children's Recycling & Green Living Books
A New York Times bestseller that TODAY calls “beautiful” and “stunning!” This interactive book immerses children in a fun and unique journey. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will go to support the environmental and humanitarian efforts of the White Feather Foundation, the global environmental and humanitarian organization that Lennon founded to promote education, health, conservation, and the protection of indigenous culture. “I’ve always admired Julian Lennon's singing, because for all he has seen of the world, his melodies contain such childlike wonder... his words too. “It's rare to find a beautiful book that speaks directly to kids , in both a playful and thoughtful way, about something as important as caring for our planet and all of its inhabitants. Touch The Earth combines this magic with true hand-to-page interactivity deftly woven into the narrative (and illustrations), creating a story I believe both kids and adults will want to read over and over again.”. –Laurie Berkner. “The first in Julian Lennon's White Feather Flier Adventure trilogy, Touch the Earth takes readers on a journey in a magical plane that allows them to send clean water to the thirsty, clean oceans of pollution, and ‘make the world a better place.’”. – New York Magazine. “Lennon's debut picture book, the first in a planned trilogy, asks readers to hop aboard a magical airplane, the White Feather Flier (a name inspired by his father and his own environmental and humanitarian foundation), and go on a “helping adventure” to protect the planet's oceans and water supply. “ A passion project that comes from the heart , this stunningly illustrated book is inspired by the white feather he was given by his father when he was young.”. – Mom and More.

I have been an environmentalist for many years, and I babysit my friend's children often."

"A little background before I get into the real review: My 14 y/o trumpet player daughter has been wanting to learn the piano for years. Her trumpet teacher disagreed and recommended she start with the Suzuki method as she has and incredibly good ear and quite a bit of natural musical talent. I bought this book to help rectify that, knowing that I'll be sitting in on her weekly lessons and absorbing a lot of information there. It's pretty exciting to go from not knowing where middle C is located to playing Jingle Bells with a bit of harmony in 2 days! I do plan on adding scales and such to my practice sessions, as these are truly the things that will help you progress and give you a more fundamental understanding of how music is put together. I feel like I'm able to grasp the concepts that are introduced and will be able to help my daughter along once her lessons start in a couple of weeks."
