Find Best Price at Amazon"As a project management instructor and course developer at a state university, a project management keynote speaker, and someone who has been training project managers for nearly two decades, I highly recommend this book. - You will need another book since many exam concepts aren't even covered in the PMBOK. I personally like PMP Exam Prep, Seventh Edition: Rita's Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam or CAPM/PMP Project Management Certification All-in-One Exam Guide with CD-ROM, Second Edition. - When submitting project experience on the application, you can submit work even if your title was not Project Manager. ***Update (Sep 2013)***. New editions of the books I linked to above were released: - PMP Exam Prep, Eighth Edition: Rita's Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam. - CAPM/PMP Project Management Certification All-In-One Exam Guide, Third Edition."
"So, go ahead and buy another book on studying for the PMP exam, but if that book covers any topic(s) that are NOT in THIS BOOK, you are learning content that is irrelevant for this exam. I bought Joseph Phillips study guide, and although it was helpful, there were many terms and content items NOT in the PMBOK guide, and therefore I did not get any questions on the real exam related to those terms/topics. Also, I took 5 practice exams from 3 different sources (one was from the Joseph Phillips CD) which turned out to give me false confidence because the real exam was a LOT harder. I recommend memorizing the 47 processes and being able to write them down in the chart before you take the exam."
"I mean - it's a boring text book, so what is there to love?"
This prep course provides expert instruction, a structured syllabus, PPI's #1 selling review materials, and convenient online viewing from the comfort of home or on the go. The extensive index contains thousands of entries, with multiple entries included for each topic, so you can find the topics referenced no matter how you search. Civil Breadth: Project Planning; Means and Methods; Soil Mechanics; Structural Mechanics; Hydraulics and Hydrology; Geometrics; Materials; Site Development Construction: Earthwork Construction and Layout; Estimating Quantities and Costs; Construction Operations and Methods; Scheduling; Material Quality Control and Production; Temporary Structures; Health and Safety. If you are preparing for the PE exam in civil engineering, the following suggestions may help. Newer editions mean that the codes, standards, and regulations on which the exam is based are not represented in the older edition, that the exam body of knowledge has changed, and/or the exam format and policies have changed. This means knowing the order of the chapters, the approximate locations of important figures and tables, what appendices are available, and so on.

Find Best Price at Amazon"That said, as far as I can tell this is pretty much the only comprehensive reference available for the exam so rather than talk more about the CERM itself I wanted to break down some things that helped me use the manual to study and pass the PE exam the first time: 1) Download and print out a copy of the index for the CERM from the PPI website, bind it separately, and use that to look stuff up while studying and taking the exam to avoid constantly flipping around in the manual between the index and the chapters. I left all my tabs and flags in the CERM after finding out I passed since it makes the book look real salty and reminds me of the pain I went through studying and taking the exam. The PM exam was the similar but about 25% of the questions couldn't be answered out of the CERM and needed an outside reference (master's level stuff in my opinion and I don't have an MSCE so I just did what I could and guessed the rest). I know this sounds obvious but I first attempted studying with stacks of textbooks from engineering school in addition to my CERM and quickly realized it would never work. The CERM and a few other things were enough to get me through the WR exam and I am neither a water resources engineer by practice nor the kid from Good Will Hunting. It helped me get into the mode of studying a lot (I kept records and including 56 hours of class I spent about 250 hours preparing for the exam over about 3.5 months, did nothing the two weeks before the test due to burnout and a work trip during which I was not going to study in the hotel at night), helped me realize I wasn't the only one fighting my way through the pain and misery, and helped me learn enough to get by in areas that I had little to no college coursework on (e.g. transpo, econ, etc)."
"I didn't study with the CERM but I used it as a back-up reference."
"Absolutely a must if you are taking the Professional Engineering Examinations."
"Used the book along with a review course and passed the test the first time."
"The index is top notch; with a few key words you can find information or formulas to solve almost any problem."
"I highly recommend this book for the exam and as a general reference for other engineers like myself."
"a good reference book for civil engineering practice."
Coverage includes every essential area of medicine, including body system diseases and disorders; fluids, electrolytes, and acid-base disorders; hematologic diseases and neoplasms; infectious diseases; diseases of the skin and hypersensitivity disorders; and ambulatory medicine. Helpful appendices cover radiographic and electrocardiogram interpretation, physical examination pearls, workup and management of common problems on the wards, basic statistics and evidence-based medicine, and end-of-life issues and informed consent. Doody's Book Review Service, Sally Ling, MD, University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine --. "The book was written to enable students to study more efficiently for their clerkships, shelf exams, and boards.

Find Best Price at Amazon"As far as physical quality, pages feel cheaper than third edition. 1) They added a few lines about the new oral anticoagulants (i.e. apixaban). 2) BP guidelines have been updated with JNC 8. other mistakes have not been fixed like pneumonia severity index. I am updating my review from 3 to 4/5."
"Invaluable for STEP 2CK."
"Kept the book after step 2 so I can have it around for when I study Step 3 (going in pathology so this is all I have to remember IM by)."
"Covers the highest-yield topics for the medicine shelf in appropriate detail (e.g., CHF, COPD), but does not get into the rarer conditions as much."
"Good book."
"One of the better texts for getting a quick reference on disease states."
"Essential for studying for the IM shelf exam."
"Excellent, concise, well written."

Find Best Price at Amazon"-Buying the books gives you access to an online portion of materials that includes 3 practice exams, and two "mini" passage tests per topic. My biggest issue with EK books were that they did not connect the concepts in a manner that helped me understand or remember the material better. And when I say decipher, I mean that the explanations are so vague I would end up spending countless hours trying to learn the concepts at a "deeper conceptual level", when really my issue was that frankly I just sucked at eliminating wrong answers and making educated guesses. I was able to borrow the new Exam Kracker books from a friend two weeks prior to taking the new MCAT as last minute practice after utilizing all of the Kaplan and Khan materials. I felt well prepared (in combination with Khan Academy) and I had access to 3 practice exams at less cost than other prep companies. Also, please note that the most critical review (thus far) of these books is an MCAT instructor paid to teach from Exam Krackers materials."
"Little side panels with MCAT Expertise, Mnemonics, and Real Life ties in are great in case you're having a tough time understanding the section in question. They also do a really good job of tying things together; they make it a point to tell you "well, your studies of Biochem are not isolated. There are also some interesting ways that they introduce a chapter and relate it to you- I've even cracked up a few times at their scienc-y jokes. Then I went through them all the way again, taking scrupulous notes on all the important stuff that I had highlighted, or that the MCAT Expertise portions had brought up. But, there are only so many tricks to know and when you spend enough time figuring out how to solve them when they appear, you get a very good grasp on the basic material. They were much easier to answer because I had developed a strong understanding of topics in anticipation of harder questions."
"Would recommend to friends."
"Good set of books!"

Find Best Price at Amazon"Today I took my test (reading 5712), and I got a 180 out of 200!!! I did this for people like me, who want to pass the test, have the determination but are not super smart. the writing was simple and it didnt provide much strategies, but the test were challenging enough that they opened up my thinking. Therefore, I would still recommend it, but only for the test."
