For years, cardiologist Arthur Agatston, M.D., urged his patients to lose weight for the sake of their hearts, but every diet was too hard to follow or its restrictions were too harsh. The South Beach Diet isn't complicated and doesn't require that you go hungry. To avoid blood sugar surges, Agatston created a modified carbohydrate plan, recommending plenty of high-fiber foods, lean proteins, and healthy fats, while cutting bread, rice, pastas, and fruits. Feeling full while on a diet is a beautiful thing, but it seems odd that a cardiologist buries his exercise recommendations in a solitary sentence. The last half of the book covers his three-stage plan; daily diets are mixed with recipes, some of which are from South Beach restaurant chefs. Sinai Medical Center, found that his patients not only were unable to stay on various popular diets but their cholesterol and blood sugar levels remained dangerously high after trying these plans. Feeling better and losing weight, he then consulted a nutritionist to modify his strategy to devise a sound method for his patients. The South Beach diet begins with a somewhat restrictive two-week program, generally producing a weight loss of from eight to 13 pounds.

That took some time, but boy is it handy, even if you yourself only use it occassionally. I have had a few cookbooks that actually made me turned off to the meal due to the grey lighting or even ones I knew were fake like a slow cooker photo of mac and cheese that showed it browned on top (that does not occur in a slow cooker). These are truly restaurant quality meals, that are obviously tested and tried and perfected. Some authors will not do this unless the company pays them to use their name in the book. What disturbs me further about T. "I first found this book in high school and my mom said I was an A blood type so I concentrated on vegetarian foods. I was happy to do this because it was in the 90's and all my teen magazines promoted low fat and vegetarian diets and of course, I wanted to be like the models. He was so sure that I had it, he sent me to another hospital in another town to have the test retaken because he thought the staff was bad at the first place. Of course, dietetic school said this was a fad diet so I went on a dietary guidelines plan. 'Fast forward a year out of school, I discovered the paleo diet and my whole world was better. My mom was managing a health food store at the time and she had blood type supplements on her shelf. He loves protein shakes and I don't push meat on him because I know your body will naturally like what it needs. I saw 5 OBGYN's and I told them all my theory that I was reacting to the blood of the baby and they all thought I was nuts. After I delivered I still believed the reason I was so sick in pregnancy was because of the blood type difference. Years later I read in one of Dr. D Adamo's books that he supports that theory of the most difficult pregnancies are usually type O mom's with A babies because they are opposite in dietary needs."

"For almost 3 years now I have been handing this book and 'mind-reprogramming' CD to every patient who comes to me to lose weight, or who is caught up in the mentality of diets, scales, cravings, or overeating. I'm not sure what common sense they can really mean since the rules make a mockery of the majority of get thin / lose weight approaches around. Even if the rules are common sense, McKenna needs to be given great credit for showing people HOW to live these habits. Hypnosis is what first made Paul famous, and I've seen NLP Practitioners review this and say they knew all of these tricks before. In NLP terms Paul is saying that the Golden Rules are the "model" for being "naturally thin". Just knowing all the geewiz psych techniques won't help if you have the wrong model as I suspect most NLPers do. Most people can go the book & CD, discover the Aha moments, and get started on transforming their relationship with food and their weight straight away. Indeed the updates have covered the two or three remaining gaps I had found before, including the extra information for self-sabotage issues. You can buy his measly book just to prove Paul wrong :). Oh and then come back here and add your own review. No one book/CD can fit everyone but "I Can Make You Thin" deserves way more reviews here on Amazon from people just like you who have been wondering if this might just be what you need."

Empty Stomach (AM): - Licorice drops. - Probiotic. - Saccharomyces Boulardii. Lunch: - Glutamine. - Methyl B12 (my Dr suspects a MTHFR gene mutation; regular B12 wasn't helping but this works great). - NAC. - Zinc (this was huge for me; gave me lots more energy). - Selenium. Bedtime: - Magnesium. - CoQ10. - Probiotic. - Fish Oil w/vitamin D. Many of these don't have to be taken with food and the order could be switched up. I'd recommend chatting with your doctor about lab work for vitamin deficiencies and reading Dr. Wentz's supplement guide."
