Game Changer
Broadcasting rights alone bring in billions: ESPN paid $5.6 billion to broadcast college football playoffs for twelve years; Turner Sports/CBS shelled out $10.4 billion to show the national college basketball tournament through 2024; and the most recent NBA TV deal came in at a cool $26.4 billion. But as they’ve gotten stuck in stats, mired in backroom politics, and diverted by the facilities arms race, many have lost sight of what should’ve been their primary focus all along: the game itself. Through his unprecedented experiences with teams in professional football, basketball, rugby, soccer, Aussie Rules, and Gaelic football, as well as with elite military units, Connolly has discovered how to break down the common elements in all sports to their basic components so that each moment of any game can be better analyzed, whether you’re a player or a coach. • Rethink coaching and organizational leadership and enhance communication, group dynamics, and player interaction. Dr. Fergus Connolly is the Performance Director for University of Michigan Football.

SAS Survival Guide 2E (Collins Gem): For any climate, for any situation

Reviews
"The full-size SA Survival Handbook is incredible, but it is a large book and pretty heavy for a day hike pack."
"This book is very comprehensive and I recomened this book for everyone it is handy to keep in the house and defently a book to read here and there and it's something to practice because learning even the basic survival skills is a important skill in life."
"").For example, as someone who needs practice making fire, I thought that there should have been more information on fire making; however, there is plenty of information of types of fire (windshields, making fires in the snow, etc)."
"This little book is filled for useful information on what to eat, not to eat, what insects or animals are poison or not, and many other useful bits of information."
"If you've never had a drill instructor in your face and you're a bit of a softy, you too need to read this book."
"But as is, it covers too many topics, from how to deal with computer viruses (keep your software updated, use an anti-virus program) to warnings about scurvy ('always aim for a balanced diet'). There are pure factual errors (people cannot survive 12 days without water, even in cool temperatures) and frequent mixing of good and poor advice (crossing a river in a group one behind the other is terrible, exposing each to the full force of the water, while crossing in a line facing downstream, with arms interwoven, is universally recommended). For rope, climbing, and mountaineering skills, Mountaineering: Freedom of the Hills, 8th Edition. If you just want information on snow caves (another better alternative to an igloo), Ernest Wilkinson's slim book is out-of-print but easy to find: Snow Caves for Fun and Survival. For glacier travel, crevasse rescue, and high-angle rescue in general, Andy Selter's book is remarkably efficient. A few pages go a long way on each topic: Glacier Travel & Crevasse Rescue: Reading Glaciers, Team Travel, Crevasse Rescue Techniques, Routefinding, Expedition Skills 2nd Edition. For emergency wilderness medicine, Eric Weiss' books are the most popular, and they're fine."

"This is a must read for all people involved in youth baseball programs."
"Even if only throwing ASMI's recommended pitch counts frequently going and playing other "high use" positions."
"Really well-researched, thought provoking, insightful and the author does a tremendous job of bringing the subject to life through the real-life stories of some very colorful characters and a couple legends."
"In this day and age of lame research, poor writing, and even worse editing, it was a pleasure to read a book about an incredibly timely baseball issue that was up-to-the-minute current and perfectly presented."
"He mentioned one of my favorite baseball books, The Diamond Appraised (Wright/House), the seminal work in discussing pitcher injuries."
"Outstanding read if you like the game of baseball."
"For any sports fan and particularly baseball fans this is just a great read regarding an issue that ranks beside football concussions."

Eat to Live: The Amazing Nutrient-Rich Program for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss, Revised Edition
It instructs readers on how to leave behind the discomfort of toxic hunger, cravings, and addictions to unhealthy foods. Fuhrman’s nutrient-packed, healthful approach to nutrition combined with quick weight loss can be expressed in this equation, health=nutrients intake/calories intake.
Reviews
"I want to write a bad review because that is what my toxic food addicted body/brain wants me to do and I almost gave in and did it. Woke up and finished the book and then decided to write the truth without regards to my fight against the American toxic diet. I want to continue eating luscious breads anytime I want and as much as I want. So reading this book for the second time I am faced with the fact that in order to be where I want to be: healthy and fit, I can either change or stay the same or be somewhere in the middle. I have always been jealous of vegans = because it is the hardest thing a normal eating person can be. This book advises against all animal products - no matter what other reviewers say. Furhman states over and over that animal products are bad for the human body, toxic to the liver, great for cancer and fat, bad for humans. I just had a cheese sandwich - luscious bread, too much cheese, swiss and cheddar, some lettuce, a bit of processed turkey, mayo, mustard, italian dressing. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is so restrictive - but that is not necessarily bad, I'm just kinda weak battling my food demons."
"I existed for the next 5 or 6 years, until I decided I'd had enough to the horrible side effects of the drugs used to manage the conditions. In 2013, I tried this diet for 6 months, when I didn't feel it was happening quickly enough, I gave up and went back to my longing for the former foods. Also, as a side effect of this plan, I have lost over 40 lbs, and have been told I look about ten years younger, but my favorite compliment is that I "look healthy!""
"This looks a bit like some sort of infomercial but I promise you I'm not getting paid for this, and these questions are a big summary of the ones I've been getting for the past 6 weeks. In short, it is six weeks of vegan food with no booze, caffeine, salt, or fat. That means no olive oil, nuts, or fatty things that are still good for you like avocados. After 6 weeks you transition to a diet that can include meat and alcohol plus days where you can eat whatever the heck you want. It kind of blows my mind that I still don't look the way I want and I had 24 pounds on TOP of that. Dinner varied and I learned to cook a lot of different things and make extra for leftovers. You're allowed a little bit of bread now and then (as well as some starchy vegetables) so I never got massive carb cravings or anything. I spent 4 hours cooking his "famous" anti-cancer soup and if I never have that crap again I'll be a happy man. So I bought the fat free balsamic vinagrette at Trader Joe's ate that with all of my salads (only 25 calories per serving). I probably had a pinch more salad and fat because of it but it was worth it to me to have food that tasted normal. Some Ethiopian and Indian places had barely passable options but that was mainly with my eyes closed pretending that there was only a bit of oil in them. It also takes a really objective look at other diets which, in the end, made me not want to try them. 3) I was never hungry. 4) It gave me a lot of tools I can use the rest of my life to make better and more informed decisions. I know this whole things sounds ridiculous and corny, but I've really never felt so damn awesome and enthusiastic before. Mind you, I'm dying for a martini, but in the end six weeks wasn't the worst thing in the world."

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek. A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in-the-eye moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives. This is a masterful, philosophical and practical book that will give readers the wisdom to be able to do just that.” ( Ryan Holiday, New York Times bestselling author of The Obstacle is the Way and Ego is the Enemy ). “Mark’s ability to dig deep and offer amazing, yet counter-intuitive, insight into the challenges of life makes him one of my favorite writers, and this book is his best work yet.” ( Matt Kepnes, New York Times bestselling author of Travel the World on $50 a Day: Travel Cheaper, Longer, Smarter ). “An in-your-face guide to living with integrity and finding happiness in sometimes-painful places… This book, full of counterintuitive suggestions that often make great sense, is a pleasure to read and worthy of rereading.

"As someone who has given far too many f***s about far too many things their entire life, this book was exactly the wake up call I needed. We have a limited emotional capacity, and we often squander it on reactions to mean-spirited people or unfortunate events, completely forgetting that, although we can't control the world around us, we can control ourselves. If you're the type of person who's struggled to keep their temper in line or if you're like me and you find yourself on an emotional roller-coaster because you take every event in the world and within your own life to heart, I strongly encourage you to read this book. If profanity is so much of a problem for you, that you can't tolerate reading the first half of this book (the last half is much less profane) you're probably too narrow-minded to have taken away any of the many philosophical benefits this book offers."
"If you don't have anything substantive to occupy your time, then it's trivial stuff that bothers you: "Your ex-boyfriend’s new Facebook picture, how quickly the batteries die in the TV remote, missing out on yet another two-for-one sale on hand sanitizer—chances are you don’t have much going on in your life..." Mark suggests just picking a few big things--values and people that reflect your values: "What I’m talking about here is essentially learning how to focus and prioritize your thoughts effectively—how to pick and choose what matters to you and what does not matter to you based on finely honed personal values." On a serious note, the author relates a horrific experience from his youth, when a drunken friend took a dare, jumped into a lake and drowned. This tragedy led to a determination to change the direction of his life, and figure out what is most important: "Oddly, it was someone else’s death that gave me permission to finally live. The author refers often to a book, "The Denial of Death," (which became a Pulitzer Prize winner.). In serious, heartfelt chapters, the author reflects on human existence, and our search for meaning in life."
"Some of the main themes are these: (1) Choosing what to care about; focusing on the things/problems that are actually meaningful/important (= "giving a f*** about the right things"). (2) Learning to be fine with some negative things; always aiming for positivity isn't practical, and is stressful in itself. (3) Taking responsibility of your own life; it's good for your self-esteem not to keep blaming the circumstances for your problems. (4) Understanding the importance of honesty and boundaries, especially in relationships. (5) Identity; it might a good idea not to commit strongly to any special identity such as "an undiscovered genius", because then any challenges will make you fear the potential loss of that identity you've clinged to. (6) Motivation; how to improve it by accepting failure and taking action. (7) Death; how learning to be more comfortable with one's own mortality can make it easier to live. The first 20% of this book were a little bit boring to read, but after that, the experience was very absorbing."

On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep
For over 20 years, On Becoming Babywise has been the de facto newborn parenting manual for naturally synchronizing your baby's feeding time, waketime and nighttime sleep cycles, so the whole family can sleep through the night. Practical discussions then focus on broad and niche topics including feeding philosophies, baby sleep problems, baby scheduling challenges, nap routines, sleep training multiples, baby sleeping props, Colic and Reflux and many other dimensions which impact breast feeding schedules, bottle feeding tips and baby sleep training. 1) Taking care of baby and mom. 2) A timeline of what to expect and when. 3) Baby Sleep Training Problems and Solutions. 4) Monitoring Your Baby's Growth. 5) Healthy Baby Growth Charts. It can help any parent develop a plan that meets both the needs of a new baby and of the entire family. Instead of being in baby bondage, I was liberated to be the mother God wanted me to be. We highly recommend ONLY purchasing the newest and most current version of On Becoming Babywise (isbn 1932740139). In becoming one of America's leading infant management guides, On Becoming Babywise has continued to improve its methods and practices throughout its 24 years and this latest version is the result of all the best over the last two decades. and co-author Gary Ezzo in this book helps parents successfully and naturally synchronize their baby's feeding time, waketime and nighttime cycles. Happy, healthy and contented babies who sleep through the night on average between seven and nine weeks of age. The best evaluation of any parenting philosophy, including Babywise, is not found in the reasoning or the logic of the hypothesis. Rather, our larger objective is to help prepare minds for the incredible task of raising a child. Your baby will not care if his head rests on designer sheets or beside Disney characters, nor is your success tied to his wardrobe or bedroom accessories, but rather to the beliefs and convictions that will eventually shape your parenting experience. It is our opinion that the achievements of healthy growth, contented babies, good naps, and playful wake times, as well as the gift of nighttime sleep, are too valuable to be left to chance. We realize there are a number of parenting theories being marketed today, most of which come gift-wrapped with unrealistic promises and unnecessary burdens. Spend time with relatives and friends who follow the Attachment Parenting style of infant care. The principles contained within the pages can help parents develop workable strategies that meet the needs of their babies and the rest of the family. However, your pediatrician or family practitioner should always be consulted when questions arise about the health and welfare of your baby. Because the principles of On Becoming Babywise are so effective, I consider it part of my extended health care for the family. They consistently produce babies who are healthy, content, and who sleep through the night at an early age. ". As family physicians and a husband-wife team, we are often asked questions related to parenting and the general care of children.

"On Becoming Babywise taught me to tap into my God-given parental instincts while providing me medically-sound advice to equip me in teaching my infant to sleep through the night."
"My baby was sleeping 8 hours at night at 8 weeks old thanks to this book."
"Does he look like he's dehydrated, depraved, abused, malnourished or in a dangerous environment as what a majority of the downright idiotic 1-star reviews and their preposterous claims that would like you to believe to be the end result of following this book? I seldom write lengthy reviews, buts if I come across a product that I am passionate about because it affected our life positively, then I take the time to do so. I do this while I commute to work 100 miles round trip M-F. Needless to say, my blood pressure was at 206 mmHg at its peak during the first 6 weeks, waking up every 2 - 2.5 hours to feed baby with each feeding session lasting 30 minutes, then commuting 50 miles to work at 6:30 AM and returning home at 6:30 PM to cook for the family. I need to mention that it is imperative that you wake up your little one at set schedule to feed before he gets hungry and start crying. Sleep training, preemptively waking up your baby to feed or following a set schedule does NOT make you the devil incarnate, nor does choosing to feed your infant formula, and if you are one of those 1-star reviewers that feel this way, you need to go back to the freezer with your mother's guilt because your snowflake a$$ is probably melting just from reading my review. During this transition, we did not experience any attachment or neediness from him, thanks to Baby Wise's "Parent Directed Feeding" concept (PDF). He began taking in solid food, starting with baby cereal, pureed fruits and vegetables (we use BEABA Babycook 4 in 1 Steam Cooker and Blender, 4.5 cups, Dishwasher Safe, Cherry to steam and puree fresh fruits and vegetablee, then freeze them in Infantino Squeeze Pouches, 4-Fl Oz using the Infantino Squeeze Station). He enjoys sitting in his 5-10 minutes in Bumbo infant seat but loves his Graco high chair more - this at age 4.5 month. By 5 months, our son is fully engaged in the "Early Reading Program for Baby, Toddler, Preschool, Kindergarten- Alphabet, Vowel Phonics & 200+ Sight Words - Little Champion Reader 9 DVD, Flash card, Book Kit" DVDs. Our son, born at 37 weeks via scheduled C section, a miracle in itself, is outpacing our friends' babies in terms of mental, physical and cognitive development by a mile and I sincerely believe sleep plays a large role in it all. We never force our baby to go on long distance road trip with us, rather, we only go as far as he is ready to handle, starting with 50 miles, then 100, 250 then 300+. The book repeatedly reminds the reader to make adjustments and be flexible based on the cues exhibited by baby! I absolutely refuse to believe this and we attribute our well behaved son to the steps we've followed as outlined in Baby Wise. The same pundits "predicted" our future by saying we won't be going on road trips or eating dinner at restaurants once our baby is born. That is, while we strictly follow the BabyWise guideline (with flexibility), we still showered our son with love, stimulation, appreciation, engaging interaction, encouragement and positive re-enforcement. Who's to say that you and your spouse can't enjoy life and need to be locked in the house feeling miserable and eating TV dinner the minute you give birth to baby? Some parents overcompensate their fear of having their freedom "taken away" by taking their newborn and infants to places like Las Vegas and other trendy locations to "prove" that they can still "hang", all the while their baby is fussy overnight and throughout their trip and the parents are exhausted to the core, defeating the purpose of a family vacation altogether. The concept may or may not work as smoothly in all situation for a variety of reasons, particularly if your baby has a medical condition such as colic or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) which the book addresses. Follow the guidelines outlined in BabyWise, but be ready to be flexible and make adjustments or changes to accommodate the personality of your little one!"
"This was on a baby gift registry, and it seems to have sensible advice."
"Good read- great scheduling ideas."
"Baby wise was helpful for sleep training."
"The book was good and has good ideas."
"And if crying-it-out works for you then great I've tried their method to a T. I just did not know at the time that it was considered their method."

"I'm not really sure why this is not showing a verified purchase, I bought it on amazon and paid full price...... anyway....... It has over 800 essential oil blends, which I am very happy about, as it's why I ordered the book. There is also a lot of information in this book for using essential oils with children. There is a great section on skin care and hair care with essential oils and carrier oils, as well as insomnia, the two sections I have personally found most helpful so far. I have been using essential oils for 10+ years, so this book was purchased for a bit of inspiration for blends. I have included a photo so you can see how thick with information this book literally is! ), and Kurt Schnaubelt, The Healing Intelligence of Essential Oils (thats his newest one, it is a wealth of knowledge) and my absolute favorite: Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin by Steffan Arctander, a classic that will probably never go out of print."
"For many, this is the preferred reference book on the topic of essential oils. Honestly, if you like essential oils you will appreciate this book."
"Excellent reference."
"I have lots of great EO books, but this one is the most informative!"
"That said, the book is 2 1/4" thick, in spite of the smaller font and barely any spacing between the descriptions of each oil, so it would be excessively heavy and even thicker if the font type were larger."
"I've had the original version for over 20yrs and have used it regularly, and am loving the updated version with added chapters and updated information."
"I have recently been getting into essential oils and need a book to be able to look up different uses."
"This is about the KINDLE edition only."

The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain
The Plant Paradox shows the world what pioneer thinking is about and is a must-read book for anyone interested in being as healthy as nature has designed them to be.” — Alejandro Junger MD , New York Times bestselling author of Clean, Clean Gut and Clean Eats. Americans spend billions of dollars on gluten-free diets in an effort to protect their health. Once ingested, they incite a kind of chemical warfare in our bodies, causing inflammatory reactions that can lead to weight gain and serious health conditions. At his waitlist-only clinics in California, Dr. Gundry has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients suffering from autoimmune disorders, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases with a protocol that detoxes the cells, repairs the gut, and nourishes the body. Whether you’re paleo, gluten-free, low-carb or plant-based, Dr. Gundry’s profound insights and practical advice will help reverse both autoimmune and neurodegenerative disease.” ( Terry Wahls, MD, author of The Wahls Protocol: A Radical New Way to Treat All Chronic Autoimmune Conditions Using Paleo Principles ). “Once in a generation a doctor and a book comes along that completely changes the way we think about food and our health. Dr. Gundry is that physician and The Plant Paradox is that book.
Reviews
"Steven R. Gundry, MD, a distinguished heart disease physician, researcher, and inventor, has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients with the Plant Paradox Program (PPP) or Keto Plant Paradox Intensive Care Program—nutritional treatments he created. After about 30 days, I suffered from bouts of burping and farting for about ten days—symptoms caused by withdrawing from my unhealthy diet and starting a healthy one. One way to view this book is as Dr. Gundry's prescription for people interested in being as healthy as possible. For example, I checked all of the salad dressings in two health food stores and couldn't find an acceptable one. Good news: Patricia suggests ways to economize (from her Comment on her 04/27/2017 review). "Buying a pressure cooker to make them [legumes] safe to eat would pay for itself; beans are so inexpensive, and can replace more of the expensive pastured, grass-fed, and wild-caught animal proteins." "Make omega-3 eggs a large percentage of the animal protein you get - fortunately these are more and more available at supermarkets for about $5 a dozen, sometimes even less." More bad news: Avoid sugar, agave, Splenda, NutraSweet, Sweet 'n Low, cows' milk, diet drinks, maltodextrin. Some excerpts: grass-fed and grass-finished beef and lamb; humanely raised pork; wild game; pastured chicken, turkey, duck; pastured or omega-3 eggs; wild-caught Alaskan salmon, Alaskan halibut, freshwater bass, shrimp, crab; red wine (6 oz./day); goat cheese; coconut yogurt; broccoli; brussels sprouts; cauliflower; kale; napa cabbage; spinach; red and green leaf lettuce; romaine; limited amounts of blueberries, raspberries, apples, cherries, peaches, crispy pears, etc. The value of this book is enhanced by its meal plans for the PPP's three phases, an abundance of recipes, a comprehensive index, and a flowing writing style. Dr. Gundry has made a once-in-a-generation, groundbreaking contribution to our knowledge of diet's role in reversing and preventing both minor and major diseases. Also, the pain in my left hip changed from "greatly improved" to completely disappeared."
"Exercise is valuable to your health but likely will not lead to significant weight loss unless you are grossly overweight. Over the past 30 years I have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome – with all its gory effects, and recently it seemed to be getting worse. Mind you, we eat very carefully in our house – small portions, little pasta, no junk food, no pizza, no fried chicken or fried food or any kind, no canned goods, no ice cream or big desserts, no beer, no sodas or diet sodas. In performing more research, I discovered and read Dr. Raphael Kellman’s book “The Microbiome Diet, and also listened to a video of Dr. Terry Wahls’. Fifteen years ago, I gave up muffins and granola (mostly carbohydrates) for breakfast. I was so proud of myself for switching to one small piece of 7-grain toast with natural nutty peanut butter, a banana, and a glass of milk (in addition to coffee) for breakfast. Ditto for the BBQ-baked beans I had come to have with every dinner, not to mention the small helping each night of mustard potato salad that I had with my corn and grain-fed meat loaded with antibiotics! I am now a believer in Dr. Gundry’s diet and more important, the power of his scientifically documented medical knowledge and health recommendations. On May 7th and 8th I sort of eased into his diet – starting with taking Dr. Gundry’s Vital Reds supplements. My goal over the next few months is to get to about 172 pounds, a weight that I was comfortable with for about 20 years a long time ago. In addition, even in this short amount of time, my IBS symptoms have lessened dramatically, my skin isn’t as dry, and I seem to be feeling pretty good! I find I like them a lot better mixed with additional foods like red onions, vinegar, and the like. I will update this review every couple of months to keep you all appraised of my progress and the benefits to me of my new Dr. Gundry diet. July 7, 2017. I thought I’d give interested readers an update on my 60 days on Dr. Gundry’s diet. Every day, at a minimum, I have a green smoothie, a hard-boiled egg, and Dr. Gundry’s turkey chorizo sausage and spinach muffin, plus various meats and fish protein, along with his recommended vegetables. I must say, though, it’s a bit tougher to stay on Gundry’s limit of 6 ounces of red wine per evening! Scallops and shrimp are especially easy to cook – just fry them in avocado oil with a bit of garlic. That makes it fast and easy to pull four leftover jumbo shrimps or a chicken thigh out of the fridge the next day for lunch, along with a smoothie and a cup of yogurt. My doctor recommended MiraLAX, or you could take Metamucil, but raw vegetables and/or flaxseed and/or prune juice are better for you. Her book has more specifics on blood marker numbers, nutritional content of foods, and some great recipes. After reading Dr. Wahls’ book, I am changing my B12 pills to sublingual ones, and adding CoQ (Qunol’s Ubiquinol) and Emerald Sea’s seaweed powder to my daily intake. I was particularly interested to read about Dr. Wahls’ progress from a “conventionally trained” MD to a practitioner of the much more holistic functional medicine. As far as I know, Dr. Gundry’s, Dr. Wahls’, and perhaps Dr. Raphael Kellman’s current books represent the state-of-the-art in functional medicine regarding self-healing through diet."

Reviews
"There is more information than just that in the book, including recipes for home-made hair products and specifics for how to cut and colour curly hair, but that is the skeleton of her approach. Although the hair-cutting information is meant for stylists, when my hair was very long I used it to cut my own hair and gave myself the best haircut I've ever had. Most importantly, she has expanded her system of curl types from three (essentially waves, loose curls and tight curls) to seven different categories (S'wavy, Wavy, Cherub, Botticelli, Corkicelli, Corkscrew, and Fractal or Zizag) and has completely reworked the "African American hair" chapter from the first book (which revealed she had very little experience with black women's hair) to something much more satisfying. Although there is something for everyone, people with different hair types might be frustrated to not be more represented in the book. Similarly, folks who are not new to caring for curly hair might be frustrated that there isn't more information here - while this is great for beginners, there are lots of different techniques and perspectives which can be found on the Naturally Curly website, for example about dew points, hair porosity, hair care ingredients, and styling techniques like "plopping.""
"I can see how a lot of these tips work for other people, especially very curly hair. Navigating the curly hair products has been a lot easier after reading this book, and I think its a good resource for anyone who wants better curls."
"I bought this book on the recommendation of other stylists to learn to better care for the hair of my biracial clients."
"Some of the stories I really related to as I experienced situations similar during my own bad hair days."
"I have very curly hair and I never knew how to treat it."
"After reading the book, I found out that I've been using the wrong type of shampoo/conditioner/styling products. I even used her tips on cutting your own hair and I was surprised at how easy it was."
"Yes love, love,... its my go to book."
"My mom and dad had straight hair, so I really didn't have anyone growing up that had curly hair to help me take care of it. This book has helped me so much to understand why my hair does what it does and what my hair needs."

"What is really motivating me is the fact that I lost 15 pounds and 10 overall inches in two weeks. I just wanted to let you guys know that there is a lot of cooking involved with this program. I'm actually tired of cooking, which is why I started making large meals to freeze for the week. I has been approximately four days since my previous review and I lost an additional 2 pounds on this journey. Update: So I just finished Day 23 of my Whole30 Journey and I feel good, aside from the fact that I caught a cold. I then measured myself and noted that I lost a total of 31.5 inches (-5" from chest, -2" from right arm, -3.5" from left arm, -8" from waist, -5" from hips, -4" from right thigh, and -4" from left thigh). I plan to have a celebratory dinner tonight (likely a gluten free pizza from papa Murphy's), then I will start my second round of whole30 tomorrow."
"i lost so much weight on this diet, did it for like a year."
"(Confession: I used to work out everyday but once I started the program I didn't have enough time to exercise so no, I didn't reach these results from hitting the gym; it's all about food.). You should give the program 100% effort and if you are too stressed, busy, or just don't have the time to make all of this homemade food you will probably get discouraged and fall off track."
"As one girl whined and moaned about not being able to chew gum, I naturally took that as a challenge and thought: I'll do this Whole30 and not be such a baby about it. I gained confidence, learned that I do have the ability to say "no" to food cravings, discovered a myriad of new recipes, cured all of my PCOS symptoms (regular menstrual cycles for the first time in ten years and no cysts), and as a bonus, dropped 2 pants sizes. As a child, I was in and out of the hospital with stomach pains and problems (I'll spare all the details) and after following Melissa & Dallas' Whole30, I ate sans stomach aches for the first time EVER. For my entire life eating a meal meant some level of pain/discomfort while my food digested. (Confession: I did, in fact, walk back and forth from my kitchen to my coffee table while I cooked tonight because I didn't want to risk getting food on the new pages. (If all else fails, you'll have a stunning book on display to let all your guests see how "healthy" you are.)."
"Good book."

Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike
In this candid and riveting memoir, for the first time ever, Nike founder and board chairman Phil Knight shares the inside story of the company’s early days as an intrepid start-up and its evolution into one of the world’s most iconic, game-changing, and profitable brands. Above all, he recalls the foundational relationships that formed the heart and soul of Nike, with his former track coach, the irascible and charismatic Bill Bowerman, and with his first employees, a ragtag group of misfits and savants who quickly became a band of swoosh-crazed brothers. “ Shoe Dog is a great American story about luck, grit, know-how, and the magic alchemy of a handful of eccentric characters who came together to build Nike. That it happened at all is a miracle, because as I learned from this book, though we are a nation that extols free enterprise, we also excel at thwarting it. I’ve worn the gear, with pride, but I didn’t realize the remarkable saga of innovation and survival and triumph that stood behind every swoosh. " Shoe Dog is an extraordinary hero's journey, an epic tale of faith, unparalleled determination, excellence, failure, triumph, hard-earned wisdom, and love. Phil Knight takes us back to the Big Bang of the swoosh, recalls how he first begged and borrowed from reluctant banks, how he assembled a crew of eccentric but brilliant misfits, how they all worked together to build something unique and paradigm-changing. "A fresh historical prospective on one of the most profiled companies in the world...[ Shoe Dog ] builds characters of the people behind the brand, many of whom we've never heard of." As Knight collects the misfits and oddballs who become the core of his growing company, Shoe Dog is more like The Lord of the Rings than a typical mogul memoir."
Reviews
"To put it bluntly, they are “crap between covers.” There are very few business memoirs that are even good, since most of them make the person writing the memoir seem like a business savant who always knew the right answers and knew things would come out right. Phil Knight’s Shoe Dog: A Memoir by The Creator of Nike is a great business memoir. This will be a great read for anybody, but if you’re thinking about starting a business, especially a business that you expect to grow, this book belongs on your must-read list. If you start a business and that business starts to grow, you are funding the process out ahead of your cash flow. But if you’re in business, and especially if you’re starting a business and wanting to make it grow, this book should be on your must-read list. If you want some seasoned advice to help you run and grow your company, or if you just want to read a great business memoir, pick up a copy of Shoe Dog: A Memoir by The Creator of Nike."
"Should be a required read for anyone that doesn't understand that starting a business completely consumes you."
"Towards the end where Phil Knight talks about his philanthropic efforts, he makes Africa sound like a charity case."
"Great read with some very funny writing at times."
"The daily pair count. Nike was not a Silicon Valley startup. But Phil Knight was a classic visionary founder, and in many ways a predecessor to Gates and Bezos. Not as a set of lessons, which I think we get thrown at us too often now."
"Can you can hear the pain in his voice any talks about the loss of his son."
"But once you get going, it is indeed fascinating to follow how a 20+ kid from Oregon grew a small importer of overseas sports shoes to a major world-wide enterprise."
"Great business book, and a wonderful bio by a true leader, Phil Knight."

"I read the audio version of this book multiple times, bought copies of it for clients, and shared it with friends. After reading Michael's book, I simply allowed irrelevant, erroneous, totally made up thoughts to just float on by without attaching my emotions to them. It means you're no longer an emotional puppet on the string of everyone else's behavior, attitudes, decisions, choices, etc. I LOVED the audio version of the book because the person who read it was perfect for the content. I've read TONS of other books on similar topics but the way Michael conveyed the material was unique and different and I really GOT IT!"
"Some of the points made in The Untethered Soul are: 1. Learn to relax and stay open no matter what. Do not identify with the experiences you are observing. Facing the fact of bodily death can help you to realize that all of the observed is temporary. Do not allow painful experiences from the past to influence the present. If you want a life full of joy and love you must make a commitment to having a life full of joy and love. Learn how to live from your heart, not from your ego. The Untethered Soul is my second most favorite book on the subject of how to transcend the ego and how to realize the true Self and directly experience that perfect infinite consciousness that has only joy and love and has no suffering. My most favorite book on that subject is THE SEVEN STEPS TO AWAKENING which is a collection of quotes by these seven authors: 1."
"I see life and the spiritual journey differently, and though I do believe we all should strive for a happier life and a more peaceful spirit, I don't believe it is desirable to live without some unhappiness, some worries, some fears. The author contradicts himself many times, but more importantly doesn't indicate any awareness that he has contradicted himself. Thus, while the author makes many statements throughout that I agree with, he also constantly is making other statements that contradict previous ones, giving me the impression that he is just writing a stream of consciousness of statements cherry-picked to resonate with a broad range of spiritual-enlightenment-seekers, without much regard to whether those statements gel together to form a cohesive whole. Structure. I would not want to take that away from anyone, but sadly, it is not the book for me."

The Vaccine Book: Making the Right Decision for Your Child (Sears Parenting Library)
Dr. Bob devotes each chapter in the book to a disease/vaccine pair and offers a comprehensive discussion of what the disease is, how common or rare it is, how serious or harmless it is, the ingredients of the vaccine, and any possible side effects from the vaccine. "It is more information than I ever expected, in a format that is sectioned down in consistent and easy to read and reference. Dr Sears IS pro-vaccine, yet he writes from a neutral stand point giving you facts. I'm pretty sure those that gave one star are those that have not even read a word of this book, but are rather so adamantly against just the idea of people not vaccinating that they must discredit a wealth of knowledge that benefits ALL parents and children. All known side effects and their likeliness per maker of the vaccine, in past versions and current ones, the ingredients and specific amounts of things like aluminum and formaldehyde. Meaning you might want a different brand for one, or if that's not an option for you, wait until the next visit for the other vaccine containing aluminum, thus keeping levels in your child lower and safe. Recommending whether this is one he personally believes you really shouldn't skip, or whether it's one that is not really necessary in scenarios such as a breastfed child who is not in daycare until a certain age."
"I recently became aware of some interesting facts regarding vaccines and wanted to do more research."
"This really helped provide an un-biased view on vaccinations and was very educational on each vaccine."
"Very useful in understanding the pros and cons of each vaccine, allowing parents to make their own informed decisions for their children."
"This a great informational book."
"Love this book!"

Fat for Fuel: A Revolutionary Diet to Combat Cancer, Boost Brain Power, and Increase Your Energy
What if scientists are chasing a flawed paradigm, and cancer isn’t a disease of damaged DNA but rather of defective metabolism as a result of mitochondrial dysfunction ? In this groundbreaking guide, the first of its kind, New York Times best-selling author and leading natural-health practitioner Joseph Mercola explains how nearly all disease is caused by defective metabolic processes. Then he reveals what’s really causing your metabolism to go haywire: damage and dysfunction in the mitochondria, thousands of which are at work in nearly every cell in your body, generating 90 percent of the energy you need to stay alive and well. This is a life-changing text that not only provides a deep dive into why choosing fat as our primary fuel source powerfully correlates with health and disease resistance, but also delivers in terms of how the reader can easily bring about this fundamentally important change. Mercola’s science-based refutation of this status quo provides a welcome and compassionate response, allowing readers to regain and maintain optimal health.”. “This remarkable book presents a truly revolutionary program that can help millions of people achieve optimal health. Dr. Mercola clearly explains the importance of mitochondria for metabolic function and carefully guides his readers with detailed practical advice for enhancing their activity. Dr. Mercola is one of the few who have properly understood and embraced my long-standing belief that one’s health and lifespan is mostly determined by the proportion of fat versus sugar one burns over a lifetime. But one thing has become increasingly evident over the past decade: teaching our bodies to use fat instead of glucose as the main fuel source has immense potential to support patients suffering from some of the most devastating chronic diseases. Dr. Mercola’s Fat for Fuel will be an invaluable resource for me in two ways: personally, because I’m a cancer patient myself striving to create an environment that will keep my disease at bay, but also professionally as a nutritional therapist. “ Fat for Fuel is required reading for anyone wishing to radically and expeditiously address a current health crisis and also for those of us seeking to ameliorate genetic predispositions as we age.”. — Travis Christofferson , author of Tripping over the Truth: How the Metabolic Theory of Cancer Is Overturning One of Medicine’s Most Entrenched Paradigms. With so much conflicting information in the nutrition world, this book serves as a critical resource for every physician in training or in practice, and for every person eager to avoid the need for those doctors.”. This is an extremely valuable guidebook for those seeking to understand and implement transformational dietary changes to boost their metabolic and cellular function. In his book Fat for Fuel , Joe Mercola has given us a practical blueprint for how to revive our mitochondria using diet as a powerful foundation, with a few other added simple tools, such as intermittent fasting, exercise, light therapy, and some supplemental nutrients. Dr. Mercola tested the Mitochondrial Metabolic Therapy recommendations he makes in this book on himself, with many months of trials and errors and continuous glucose monitoring. I highly endorse Fat for Fuel as the most practical do-it-yourself guide available today for people to take back control of their health and resolve chronic illnesses.”. "I have done low carb in the past and experienced good short term results but this feels different. I purchased the ketosis test sticks on amazon (about $10) and on about my 6th day it was a medium color purple. That's obviously really good (I don't care if its water weight--it is 11 lbs less i'm hauling around), but what is more satisfying is how hunger and cravings go away. I think what helped me get into moderate ketosis is that I cut out all added sugar immediately and all flour. My goal is net 40 grams of carbs, but I'm probably closer to 30grams (I track everything on an online app). My diet has consisted mainly of the following (prepared varioius ways for different meals) eggs, avocado, berries, hemp protein powder, olives, olive oil, mct oil, beef/chicken/fish, macadamia nuts, pumpkin/sunflower seeds riced cauliflower/broccoli, kale/spinach, onions and garlic and spices. I do an 18 hr fast each day (6pm-Noon) and eating as recommended in the book makes it easy."
"Dr. Joseph Mercola's Fat For Fuel is a MUST read - even if you think you do not agree with the concept of eating fat (instead of copious carbohydrates)."
"Once again, Dr. Mercola takes a multitude of information and states it in a way that we can all understand and apply to our lives for better health and healing. Back in 1997 I stumbled upon his website and thought that he might just know what he's talking about because he sounds like my Grandma (who learned from reading Adelle Davis) and he spoke of things that I was just starting to be concerned with. As a registered nurse I have witnessed the pain and suffering endured by my patients and their families while the pharmaceutical companies and for-profit medical community thrive. I have been fired countless times for being a strong patient advocate and empowering my patients to do their research and question their doctors, to not give up the fight, to not settle for unanswered questions and ill health because we CAN heal ourselves or AT LEAST reduce the suffering in the worst case scenarios. (Bad enough that no one ever tells the patients to fast for 12 hours before a cholesterol test, but then to not even give them an accurate explanation of those results is a sin in the highest degree)."
