I learned how to dress out a large animal and brooder chicks with kerosene lanterns. Not that I read this book a lot or anything, but I literally wore the covers off of the copy that I ordered from Lehman's Non-Electric Hardware Store. I'm on my second copy now, which my husband had drilled with a three hole punch to give it more staying power."
"She had grown up on a farm, homesteading, and living and learning from her relatives many of the skills she writes about in her book (she admitted some parts of the book were researched--not surprising given this book is truly encyclopedic). This book is a classic. Other books likely of interest: >Your Cabin in the Woods, which is a great starter book for anyone thinking about getting their own place in the country, as it is a very helpful combination of both practical and philosophical."
"I was first introduced to this book by watching a YouTube video on home steading."
"This is a good book to start off with for a broad overview of homesteading which can lead you to other avenues to explore crafts and skills in more depth that interest you."
"The more I read, the more I kept wondering how could one person possibly collect so much knowledge in one lifetime?"

Find Best Price at Amazon"Cons: I recognized a great many of the designs from the Amy Warden Soap Challenge and the original artisan soap makers were not given credit (design ideas are not exclusive to the Soap Queen). Instead of telling you how many ounces a recipe makes- you get how many bars based on her molds (a pain in the butt for a newbie to figure out using your own molds.). The book is a copycat of other artisans original works and really instead of using ordinary easy to find molds it compels you to go to her company to buy the equipment (or buy it cheaper here on Amazon :) SOME THINGS YOU NEED:You need a silicone log mold, a wooden slab mold, a individual silicone cavity mold, a silicone slab mold (smaller), and a long log mold with dividers, and round molds, embellishment molds, natural colorants, oxides, tons of essential oils, heating pad, section tools, sodium lactate (in all the recipes), cupcake mold, stamp, rubber mallet, sealable tea bags, herbs, bubble wrap, cookie cutters, powder sifter, chopsticks, frosting bag and tip... it goes on and on."
"Great to have these options."
"Detailed and inspirational, just what you would expect from Anne Marie, The Soap Queen!"
"Shared knowledge, reinforced guidelines."
"Love this book."
"Very much recommend this book for soaping."

The binder is just easier to plan with, bigger pages and filling things out in a book is difficult (especially when it comes to copying forms).I also think the layout is a bit better in the binder."
"I've added some sections and taken out sections that aren't applicable and I hole punch every vendor quote or email I get and place them in the correlating section. For example, if you're like me and say : you and your honey decide to take a long weekend trip to the mountains in October and it's August, and then you obsess over planning EVERY.SINGLE.DETAIL until you actually leave - you're going to be exhausted. You're going to be so burnt out from planning what time you leave, what time you get back, triple checking your Airbnb reservations, making dinner plans for at least one night, what you're going to pack and "is the weather going to cold?" Make sure you give yourself a break from planning every so often :)."
"I wish more reviews would have mentioned this but I know I was lucky enough for my friend to be honest about how much she would actually use of this binder. The binder itself is stiff beautiful, it came in great condition and was very easy to follow, it was somewhat didsheartwning to know how much money I spent on it tho only to see my friend fly through entire sections saying she wasn't going to do something that traditional or complicated."
"The entire binder looked like it went through a grinder before they sent it to me."
"Will be kept to look back on for years to come after her wedding."
"I also like how you can add pages to the binder so that you can keep all your contracts and receipts in one spot... One thing I would recommend though is prioritize what you want and don't want for your wedding before opening this book!"
"Not as helpful if you are good at planning, I already pretty much had everything in mind when I purchased it so I will probably only use it to keep track of everything for the day-of and hand it to my day-of coordinator."
"So full of ads and gross topics."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I remember the Lego Idea Book 6000 the best, that's the one that follows Bill and Mary as they build a house, explore a city, travel to space, and then back in time to a medieval castle. The book is broken up into sections, essentially these are: vehicles, buildings, spaceships & robots, castles, pirates & adventure, and real world creations. This last section is very interesting, showing you things such as picture frames and pencil holders made out of LEGO. These include some interview style questions where you learn about the builder who wrote a particular section of the book. The lack of instructions also mean that it is probably more suited to an experienced LEGO builder - either an older child or a parent who enjoys building with younger children."
"This is like an engineering version of a DK Publishing tour guide book, but for legos."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Just last night, I went to a booksigning with Amy Stewart for "The Drunken Botanist", the first time I'd heard Stewart speak. I laughed when Amy said that when she was researching her previous book, "Wicked Bugs", she had no volunteers to help her. What sets Amy's book apart is that she is a horticulturist, and she tells you about the fabulous plants that make or go into all the different kinds of fermented beverages man has come up with. The book is divided into three parts: 1. For example, the chapter on sugar cane (in part 1), tells you: - the first and current places sugarcane is cultivated and how it is cultivated. - the botany of sugarcane. - how to make rum. - spirits made from sugar cane. - how rum became linked to British sailors. - drink recipes. Did you know that the British navy had rum rations for it's sailors until 1970! I miss Briony Morrow-Cribbs' and Jonathan Rosen's incredible drawings and engravings that were such enchanting - and vigorous - enhancements to Stewart's previous books, Wicked Bugs: The Louse That Conquered Napoleon's Army & Other Diabolical Insects and Wicked Plants: The Weed That Killed Lincoln's Mother and Other Botanical Atrocities."

"This is a must read for all Fixer Upper fans."
"I really didn't know much about Chip and Joanna, other than catching snippets of their nationally-broadcast show Fixer Upper, but now I feel that they're the type of next-door people that you would love to sit down and share a meal with and get to know. Toward the end of the book Joanna says teasingly how Chip is like the President of the United States - always running around shaking hands and kissing babies."
"Jo's sense of style and Chip's sense of humor make the show irresistible and makes me wish I lived in Waco, Texas so I can hire them fix up a house for me. I can honestly say, I had no idea what the hell shiplap was until I watched this show and apparently, Texas homes are loaded with it behind the walls."
