"Not 100% valuable for younger teens, but overall pretty helpful."
"It’s everything you’re likely to read in any self-help book or what you might have learned in your “business and careers” class in school or what any job training session will teach you. The book starts with the “Top 10 People Skills”, including “Smile”, “Make Eye Contact”, “Turn Off the Electronics” and “Say Please and Thank You”. But, admittedly, with our electronics obsession, some of these skills don’t get practiced as much as they should since people (especially teens) tend not to interact face-to-face as much anymore. The rest of the book is basically applying these skills to different situations such as getting a job, interacting with customers, making sales, volunteering and fundraising. One concern I have with the book is how it frequently stresses being “sincere” and “genuine”, but then prescribes only a few restricted behavioral options – smiling, listening, being enthusiastic, etc. It’s not so simple that if you just smile and act like a super eager beaver, always wanting to please, that people will always like you and that you’ll always impress your boss and make sales. It may very well be effective in the short run to generate donations, but it feels manipulative and might leave a bit of a sour taste in the donor’s mouth. Almost as a side note, I have to respond to this bit of advice in the “Get that Job” section: “Finally, supercharge your interview with your copy of Smile & Success for Teens."
"The subject of people skills gets far too little attention in the education of our children and this book covered it very well and concisely. I have come to conclude that having a job during your teens is as valuable as the advance placement class we push our kids to take. Have your teen get a job this summer, but before you send him out, have him sit down for a couple of hours and read this book."

Through very funny stories, Scripture, and a real understanding of the good, bad, and ugly ways we can use our words, Annie Downs explores the difference you can make when you speak love to others, to God, and even to yourself. Because when you speak love, you speak life. By weaving together personal stories, humor, and Scripture, she invites the young women reading to experience fulfilled lives with a God who made them on purpose and loves them deeply.

"This book was written for EVERYONE. The brilliance of this book is that it is a perfect class book. I will say that while this book is awesomely amazing- she leaves out some important stuff. So while yes, you need to ask Jesus into your heart and keep him there, you also need to ask for forgiveness and be baptized like he commanded of you. So this is the part where I say go buy the book- GO BUY THE BOOK- but I am also going to say this; if you have a teenage girl (I would say boy because so much applies to them but it was directed at girls) this would be a great gift for them."
"Speak Love is written mostly for teenage girls, but other women can glean beauty from the text, too. With compassion and conviction, Annie speaks straight to the heart of those who are considered "mean girls"."
"Annie will crack you up, but then she'll turn around and hit you with a spiritual truth right in the gut."
"Great to use as a companion with the Speak Love devotional."
"This book is so relevant for today and for everyone."
"Honestly, I wish this book had come out during my middle school/ high school years, because the younger version of myself needed to hear Annie's message."
"Good book."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I've tried three or four toddler Bibles, but they ranged from the meaningless and banal (Read With Me Bible For Toddlers) to the downright horrifying in their interpretation (The Story For Little Ones). The Jesus Storybook Bible, on the other hand, seeks to show how God's plan of salvation is unfolding through each story, and largely succeeds in doing so. First of all, there are children's Bibles like the Read With Me Bible that are simply bland. Granted, toddlers are not going to pick up on every nuance of a story from the Bible, but the Read With Me Bible often chooses the wrong points to emphasize, entirely leaving out important points of narrative along the way. One story simply lists miracles Jesus did with no context, failing to communicate that Jesus' miracles actually anticipate and begin to realize a new world, a world where God's Kingdom and rule are breaking into the world in a new and exciting way. This simply displays a level of ignorance about the story of Samson that is beyond belief for someone writing (interpreting) a Bible for children! So, for example, the story of the Exodus is told not as the story of God's great magic show, but instead on the great, mighty, and terrifying rescue of God's people from their slavery, pointing forward also to humanity's slavery to sin and coming rescue in Jesus. But again, the strength of this Bible is that it gets the story right, interpreting the main idea correctly and always pointing toward Jesus."
"Along with "God's Love" by ChampThornton, "The Bible's Big Story" by James Hamilton, "The Biggest Story" by Kevin DeYoung and "What's in the Bible With Buck Denver?""
"I love this, I have toddlers and want them to know about the happiest, greatest story in all the world<3 Its simple and sweet and I love how each biblical story ends with how that story paves the way for Jesus. Mostly the main message, the good news; God loves the world, loves YOU, no matter what!"
"It’s great to read alternate translations (even kids versions) while retaining biblical accuracy."
"I was delighted to find out that not only did we finish it but she also brought it back to me after a few weeks and wanted to read it through a second time!"
"So many of the versions out there are just the regular bible verses with colorful kids pictures incorporated."
"Every single Bible story is tied to Christ and points children to the understanding of God's overall plan of redemption and salvation through Christ."
"They were 3 months when I. started reading to the twins."
