"Pleasantly relaxing, even though I usually dont look to any music that has vocals through out in terms of music to relax to."
"The combination of ocean waves and beautiful female vocals (in another language) is awesome."
"Great!"
"This CD is very relaxing & the music is beautiful along with the nature sounds."
"soothing and relaxing - excellent to go to sleep to - peaceful and serene all the way through."
"It was very hard to hear the music because of the sound of the ocean -- I played it in my Yoga class. and did not like so much of the ocean sound with the music muffled in the background."

Samoan music did not start with Savage, or the skinny one in the Laughing Samoans and you know the other one is Elvis living away from fame and fortune and all those mothers who want to marry him off to their daughters."
"The subject themselves range from glee at the destruction of Manono by German warships, to a creepy wailing song about the impending doom of a village due to some unknown indiscretion, to grieving songs about the Spanish influenza and the Mau movement, to a song based on an old Savai'i myth."
"I got this album from my dad and it is truly the roots for Samoans in the world today."
"Being a full blooded Savaiian, this album surprises me.The ancient songs that are handed down from generations to generations is what this "project" is all about."
"well...I tell you what, I know samoan music and during my "review"...the samples played were latin music."
"ok...listening to the samples of this album..well I didnt hear one samoan word in there...made you want to cha-cha than siva."

No joke, I listen to everything from Slayer to Classical, and the first RiverTribe cd is in my absolute top 10 albums of all time list, it's THAT good. Clearly, Yanni and Enya have more musical substance than practically any contemporary artist, and if you appreciate such music, you will know that Enya and Yanni are just a few of the most amazing artists out there, thus comparing the quality of the RiverTribe music to them is a high compliment."
"I first heard this CD during an intermission at a Rebecca St. James concert."
"In my massage practice, I pop a CD in to the player in the morning, push the repeat button, and listen to the same CD all day long. Thank goodness I didn't know that beforehand, or I never would have ordered it and would have missed out on owning my favorite CD of all time."
"Audio CD."
"Love it .excellent CD... 10."
"Featuring the percussive drone of the didgeridoo, the ghostly breath of the low whistle, the distinctive whine of the violin, and a mix of percussion and keyboards. Having almost no lyrics, (it does have a few samples looped-in) most of the attention is directed to the main instruments exploring melodic themes."
"Only after I had gotten this CD did I know that any of the songs were Christian."
"Rivertribe's uniquely Australian indigenous-soul-tribal music has seen them gain a reputation as one of Australia's premier world music acts, winning audiences wherever they perform."

"I've heard this CD on the radio, but "in person"....wow."
"And if you are ever on the Big Island, while Kalapana has been pretty much wiped out by Madame Pele, the end of the road now features more great Hawaiian music from more local musicians playing often at Uncle's Kava Bar - see you there!"
"They recently reissued the group's first five albums on CD, and I'm not sure if it's because the masters don't exist, but I'd rather listen to the vinyl, which is superior sounding."
"This is some down home, funky falsetto, get with the poke and poi action traditional Hawaiian fare from DEEEEEEP in Hawaii (back when sweet 'ole Kalapana and Kaimu were still above the lava - auwe!)."
"It was a treat for us to enjoy watching this group do these same songs live on the Big Island when they first got started."

Most touching are the string-backed laments that open and close the album, "Hawai'i '78 Introduction" and "Hawai'i '78," initially a reflection on his father's death, later on the passing of Hawaii's native culture. Best known is his medley "Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World," which played over the closing credits of the film Meet Joe Black .

"Mom went to Samoa in 1959 and brought this album record with all these beautiful songs. My mother would play her record every morning before I left for school, and she would always say to me in Samoan "ia sau loa si o'u tama e siva muamua ona e alu lea ile aoga" meaning that she would always want me to samoan dance for her before I went to school. One thing I'll keep doing for mom is when I get this cd I am going to dance for her every morning and that way she can keep smiling down on me and my family."
