"I first heard Mos Def and Talib Kweli as "Black Star" on Chappelle's Show a long time ago and knew I had to check them out. A few years later, I finally got around to getting the Black Star album and had really high expectations with so many 5 star ratings and so much praise around it. Twice Inna Lifetime- 5/5. My opinion is that with the exception of the "Intro", the interludes like "Yo Yeah" and "B Boys" could've been cut to put in some top notch songs. Anyway, the songs I gave 4.5/5 or 5/5 are when Talib and Mos Def are in synch and totally have you captured in the moment. Some of these songs do live up to the huge hype that this album gets and that's why I think it's worth owning."
