On my backpack it was the zipper for the small compartment at the foot of the bag and all I had in there was a couple of USB flash drives and an iPod cable. I had to use the backpack for a trip with 6 flights involved since I had no other backpack available. Over the course of that trip I realized: - The TSA/Equiv do not recognize the backpack as ScanSmart and every time I was told to remove my laptop despite my opening the backpack per SwissGear instructions. - The top handle is set too far back to be able to place the backpack on a rolling 22" cabin-baggage rollaboard case and hold both the backpack handle and the rollaboard handle in one hand."

The second compartment is not as deep or wide as the other pockets but goes down the whole length of the backpack. The rear compartment has a padded area for the laptop, a shallow pocket and another huge area that's as big as the 3rd compartment. "It held all my tools I needed: multi-tool, screwdriver, crimps, diag-cutters, adapters, notepads, pens, markers, cables, 17" laptop and charger, iPad Air, work gloves, flashlight, spare parts, etc. Lately I have been traveling with this bag on commercial flights as checked luggage, maybe twic, since I carry so many tools for my work. In my experience, manufacturers skimp on the zipper quality, causing it to easily crack or completely break if you try to pry at it with needle-nosed pliers or screwdriver."

From everything I could learn an all websites, including Amazon, there were 2 models I was interested in. The only difference between these 2 models, besides the color, is this one has a compartment for an iPad opposite the laptop compartment in the section that opens up to lie flat on the airport's scanning conveyor. My only complaint with both packs is I wish it had just a couple of other small zippered sections inside for small miscellaneous items often needed on business trips (e.g. medications, snacks, sunglasses or reading glasses, etc.)."
"ALSO, I've added a picture of some rain that sat on the fabric, and hasn't absorbed after a 30 min train ride. The straps are comfortable when wearing the pack, and the seams are flexible and don't cut into my arms. The Heather Gray fabric is the same water resistant material you find on good quality backpacks, though it looks like cotton canvas in the pics. There's a carabiner on the front (behind the Swiss gear tag in the pic) What are the little loops with up/down arrows at the top of each strap for?"
"I was initially a little concerned about purchasing this pack because of the negative reviews regarding the zipper quality. What happened is the stitching started to come out of the seam around the zipper and was getting caught in the teeth and eventually broke the teeth of the zipper within weeks of owning the pack. I have multiple Camelbak backpacks and several of them are 15-20 years old now and this pack couldn't even last 1/2 a year."

"I'm not a huge review writer, but this product and the support provided by Belkin warrants some comments. The product failed within the first 30 days while being hooked up to my computer and a TV. No fuses tripped within my home... something apparently just shorted out inside the unit. They have a process similar to Amazon which allows them to ship you the new product, then you return the defective one to them once the new one is received. This is obviously a huge part of the equation for a $25.00 product and I assume it will be covered eventually once they provide some actual dollar figures about what I will be charged if I don't return the bad one. So I contact CitiBank (my credit card) to notify them of a probable dispute at this point... and they tell me the actual charge was $80.30. Anyway, short version: product failed twice (which to me warrants the one star review alone), Belkin customer service then provides the trifecta of failure. Five days later I received a response that appeared to be written by an actual person (versus an automated reply) that stated. "Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support. Please call our customer support department during business hours". So that was great. I never received anything and tracking shows it was returned to their docks almost a month ago, yet they charge me."

I also knew that I preferred a distressed leather bag with slide-in buckles and a very sturdy shoulder strap (that wouldn't stretch out with use). It came as a lighter color than is pictured, but I bought a $5.00 can of mink oil and rubbed it down. The leather is very sturdy and holds up well when the bag is sitting on the floor...it doesn't fall over like a lot of the more expensive bags. The only issue I've had with the bag is that after about a week of use (carrying it to work and school and back), one of the slide buckles will no longer hold (it just slides out) and keeps the flap from securing on one side."
