Find Best Price at Amazon"On one such track, That's Why You're Beautiful, Beyonce sings a highly meaningful adult alternative ballad with much ease, and puts her own soulful edge on the rock-tinged If I Were A Boy, a song which envisions Beyonce as the unfaithful member in her relationship so as to put her cheating man in her shoes. Smash Into U is a truly sweet love song I absolutely adore, and has obvious country influences, however Beyonce makes it her own by embellishing it with her own superior vocal dexterity. It makes me sad to think that such trash was left on the disc, when it could have been just as easily replaced by the unreleased gem Why Don't You Love Me, with its mind-numbingly passionate vocals layered over a pulsating drum beat, and lyrics written by Beyonce's younger sister Solange, who also penned the tongue-in cheek lyrics found on Beyonce's urban smash hit Upgrade U."
"Item arrived on time and was as described this was part of a gift."
"I just find that it is deeply flawed, and really, the high grade is based on a handful of greatness trailing behind it some memorable mediocrity. The idea that Beyonce suggest here, that all men are basically pigs and don't know how to treat women, is really offensive and childish. The fact that I could easily compile a song about how, if I were a girl, I would overact to everything, care solely about my own feelings, insist that my man spend ALL HIS TIME WITH ME AND ONLY ME and thoughtlessly spend all his money all the while refusing him sex because `I'm tired' is just a testament to how lazy and clichéd this song really is. That said, when she really hits the mark she does so flawlessly, and when you take her talent and focus it in the right direction with the right song (this one is just stunning in all areas, including lyrically) you get something that is utterly marvelous. `Disappear' is a tad repetitive and a little aggravating over time, but it has some stellar moments of vocal purity. `Single Ladies' may very well be THE SONG OF THE YEAR, and while I don't love it like everyone else, even I cannot deny the fact that it is infectious, fun, fresh and totally adorable. I mean, there are parts of that song that make me say "well maybe this is good" and then that ridiculous chorus line cuts in again and I go "eek, this is bad." So, like I said, the strength of a few stellar tracks and a slew of memorable mediocrity gets this album a grade it may not really deserve. Maybe next time Beyonce will leave Sasha out of the studio and reserve her for the stage only."
"A bit of a marketing ploy with the double disk release to show the distinction between Beyoncé and Sasha Fierce, but that Beyoncé for you!"
"I also love halo but really didn't know the other songs. Beyonce is very talented and sings a great variety of songs here--from the upbeat rock songs to rap (i guess you would call it that in the song "Diva") to the more melancholy slower songs."
"Great album from Beyonce."

"Records like Jerry Butler's Only the Strong Survive, Wilson Pickett's Don't Let the Green Grass Fool You, Stylistics I'm Stone in Love With You, Dusty Springfield's Brand New Me and many many others others make this 3-CD set a total delight in every way."
"A collection worth having."
"This is a great box classic R&B Philly Soul, highly recommended."
"I even heard some songs that I had forgotten about and/or didn't remember the actual title. This set is entertaining and sure to bring a smile to your face and if you don't outright sing some of the songs, you will be humming!"
"A music collector or a fan of soul music would be doing themselves a big time disservice by not having this piece of work in their collection."
"Although they received many accolades during the years, the sound of Philadelphia competes with Motown for its music."
"Poor box set with loose cd-holder."

Find Best Price at Amazon"My initial thoughts upon hearing these samples were that Jarrod Lawson feels like a combination of the sleekness & pure melodic sweetness of Pete Belasco, with the mellowness & soulfulness of Will Downing with an accent of Take 6; kicked up and licked up to another level so high that it requires you to climb as you can only see the bottom of the journey he is preparing for the juvenescent flight your ears, your mind, your emotions, your sighs, are about to embark upon. This was so very intriguing, so once I learned that his earliest and strongest influences are the late, great Donny Hathaway and the virtuoso that is Stevie Wonder, it made perfect sense why his sound is as such and Jarrod Lawson is such an outstanding compliment to these masters of their craft. As the tutelage of his father and emulation of the aforementioned predecessors would naturally provide the backdrop and mindset for excellence, they are not the only materials woven into his enriched fabric that gives & presents to us what we are enjoying right now."
"I was so caught up in his musicianship along with the rest of his band that the lyrics took a backseat for a moment. I am an avid music lover and I have NEVER heard anything close to this style/lyrics."
"Such a wonderful creative ride...Each song in itself has so many twists and turns....such colorful music...Musical genius...Thanks for sharing your gift with us all Jarrod...All of my friends have been put on...Keep on doing what you do!"
"Classic case of not judging a book by its cover."
"I kinda get a Eric Benet / Trombone Shorty / John Legend feel from his music."
"jarrod is a nod to the old soul singers who sings with depth.i am blessed 2 have come across his project.it is high quality music."
"Jarrod Lawson has the top acoutics, instruments, vocals and song choices."
