I use the smaller speaker, which sets on a high shelf in my shower, as it is water resistant & splash proof. I would go for the Angle 3 PLUS as the price difference is only about $7 unless a smaller speaker is your goal. I have referred several people to this powerful little speaker and all are very happy with their purchase."

"I bought three Bluetooth speakers hoping ONE would be usable. I bought the Cambridge SoundWorks Oontz Angle 3, the Anker Classic Portable, and the Boombotix REX. If you want to nitpick, the Boombotix is the smallest, the Anker is next, and the Cambridge is the largest. The Boombotix is sturdy and easy to use, the buttons are a little close together, but they work well. The Cambridge Angle 3 is sturdy and I love the shape. The rubber end caps are a mixed blessing. I recommend standing it up if you put a lot of volume through it because once the bass starts to thump it will bounce and wiggle it's way all over the place. But standing up the passive radiator on the bottom doesn't propel it all over. None of them are on par with the large Sound Dock or Klipsch type speakers, but they could hardly be expected to compete with those at this size and price.The Cambridge is my favorite because it has more bass than the other two. There's an audio out jack, which you can use to run a second speaker (of any make). I chose the Angle 3, it fits my needs best with the best imitation of bass, but the others are good enough that I've decided to keep them and use them too."

Find Best Price at Amazon"It was a huge upgrade from the 1st-gen, 2014 Moto G LTE (XT1045) which had served me well for nearly three years, but whose limited memory (8GB flash and a mere 1GB RAM) had become frustrating to deal with, struggling to keep up with today's heavier apps and web pages, no longer even able to follow links from an RSS reader without the reader app having to restart afterwards. I need this for special network requirements (IPv6 tethering, firewall, VPN routing), but also like having full control over my phones, and being rooted allows working around a few G5+ foibles, like the missing notification LED and low speaker volume. Moto's camera app is fast and easy to use, with manual adjustment options for shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, etc. A few things I don't like, and consider regressions from the original Moto G: - lack of a notification LED for texts or missed calls, as earlier Moto G's and even very cheap Moto E's of the 1st and 2nd generations had. I guess the "Moto Display" feature, which dimly lights the screen to show alerts when the phone is picked up or moved was meant as a replacement, and this might work for someone who ALWAYS keeps the phone in a pocket or purse, but it's not an adequate substitute for those of us who often leave it on a desk, nightstand etc. I've done so, and it's certainly better than nothing, but being dimmer than the older G's LED, and recessed inside makes this harder to see, easily missed when the phone's lying flat more than a short distance away. [July update: earlier this month the software was brought up to the May 2017 security patch level, via OTA update NPNS25.137-35-5]. - no longer being able to take the back off the phone, as every previous Moto G allowed, is bad news for repairability, thinking especially of the need for eventual battery replacement. Hoping to never have to do this for the life of the phone, I've avoided fast-charging it except when traveling, or otherwise actually needing a fast charge, and set it to accept USB power but not charge when left plugged into a computer for long periods, for tethering or development purposes (unless the battery's low, in which case it stops at 70%). - Screen brightness, at maximum seems slightly less than the original Moto G. It's plenty bright indoors, but can be a little harder than the older phone to read under direct sun. - The original Moto G was supposedly waterproof (to some degree), but G5 Plus is only splash-resistant. - reversal of the power button & volume rocker, compared to their placement on all previous Moto G's and E's was inconsiderate to loyal Motorola users who are upgrading. I've finally gotten used to the new layout, but still carry an older Moto E as a backup phone on another carrier, which doesn't help. I don't care about these, but others might: - micro-USB rather than USB-C -- I have a pile of other devices still using micro-USB, and it's nice having to carry just one cable type. - lack of NFC - I've no interest in Android Pay, which is a pain on a rooted phone anyway due to CTS/SafetyNet checks. REGARDING ROOT ACCESS: I chose the unsubsidized "Standard" version without Amazon ads, partly because root access is near the top of my requirements in a phone. I don't know if paying the ad-removal fee back to Amazon will also release it for unlocking, but suspect not -- the unlock procedure requires going to a Motorola site and entering a unique hex string that's programmed into each phone at the factory (possibly derived from the IMEI, ADB serial number, etc. ), then getting another unique hex string in return - Moto keeps track of which phones are unlock-eligible and which aren't, and would have to update their records after the fact based on whether Amazon's subsidy has been repaid, which probably doesn't happen. * For control of the charging (ad hoc notification) LED, the magic command is 'su -c "echo 1 >/sys/class/leds/charging/brightness" ' to make this LED blink quickly; echo 0 to turn it off; echo 2 for a slow flashing, 3 for solid-on. I made a simple Tasker script to flash it on new texts or missed calls, and extinguish when the screen transitions off -> on (not counting motion-activated Moto Display wake-ups): pastebin(dot)com(slash)SsUCa3fe. Suggestions for Moto / Lenovo to consider in future software updates: - please improve the One-Button Nav feature with more customization options. - allow the earpiece Charging LED to optionally serve as Notification LED (off by default), without having to root the phone. In future phones (G6? ), please consider improving the LED to be nice and bright/exposed as old early G's, and also making the battery removable, like on the non-Plus Moto G5 sold in other countries, or at least reasonably serviceable as on previous Moto phones with their removable back covers, even if this adds an extra gram or two of mass, or a mm of thickness."
"I usually wait a full week of ownership or more before I write a review. I am a light to moderate cell phone user coming from a Samsung Galaxy S5. I have not received any money, merchandise, discount, or any promise of such for my review. My phone met a watery death and it was time to upgrade. Pros: Camera. No bloatware. Android 7.0. Performance. Screen clarity. Wi-Fi calling. Construction. Cons: Text and call notification. Speaker quality. No removable battery. Screen brightness. Overall, I am very happy with the phone. The phone performance is snappy, camera is fast, screen is decent, and there are few limitations. If you are a low to moderate user that knows how to use the google play store, then this might be the best value for your money of any phone currently on the market. The highlights of the phone that stand out most to me are the camera, screen, and performance. I am a parent of 3 kids, so 10 seconds means a lot of missed photos. I found this to be superior to my brother’s IPhone 7, my friend’s S7, and the T-Mobile store’s S8. A second double twist motion will bring up the selfie camera, which is also of good quality. The stills are not as amazing as an IPhone, but they are comparable to a S7 (getting spanked in low light but close in all others I tried). Again, real world speed from wanting to a taking a picture to picture being taken is fastest I have ever seen on anything short of a top end SLR camera (with obviously inferior quality). If I listen to Amazon Music for 5 hours, watch a video or two, and do some light browsing, I am at 72%. ****08/17/17 UPDATE****. I am not going to comment on what is the best phone currently on the market as things change in a few months. I dropped the phone very hard today and shattered by screen protector. Fortunately, the phone was unharmed, but it was literally launched while running with 2 kids in my arms and hit the floor screen first. The G5 Plus does not hold a candle to these phones in terms of sheer processing power. I still can take a no flash picture from an off screen faster with the G5 Plus than either of these phones. It is on par with the S7, while having a slight bit more image noise and poorer low light performance. I recently pulled a 3 full day with no power off with light phone usage. I had an error message on the phone when loading the camera app, but that has since been resolved after a quick Lenovo website search. I always wear a pocketed shirt to work and my phone always spends time there."

For people who do have a solid signal outside, the biggest thing that divides people in Group #2 from those in Group #1 is the amount of separation between the indoor and outdoor antennas. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking maybe another indoor antenna will help your coverage; but, in reality, the best way to boost coverage is to simply increase the separation between the indoor and outdoor antennas. The reason separation is so important is because the indoor booster antenna signal can actually reach the outdoor antenna and cause feedback that shuts down the whole system. There are several things you can do to increase the separation between the antennas: 1) This kit includes a directional antenna; and, even though it's a bit harder to aim it, it does increase the separation significantly since it's aimed at the cell tower and tends to not 'see' your indoor booster antenna. Providing good separation between the indoor and outdoor antennas is definitely more work; but, it truly does make a huge difference to the effectiveness of this booster!"
"As it turns out, Verizon LTE is in band 13 (746-787 Mhz) and AT&T operates LTE in the adjacent band 17 (734-746Mhz). The effect on the phone is two-fold: one, the indoor LTE signal is relatively weak, so I have to be a few feet from the indoor antenna to get an OK LTE signal, but worse, the phone switches to 3G because that signal is so much stronger (full boost). For reference: I used the excellent Android Advanced Signal Status app to show 3G voice signal strength and separately LTE signal strength. Holding my phone up at the antenna location up above the roof I get around: CDMA -75dB RSSI, LTE -65dB RSSI, LTE -94dB RSRP. What I find curious is that the AT&T signal (on the left) is boosted more than the Verizon signal (on the right highlighted in pink) even though in the scan above both are very close in intensity. The manual gain adjustments also make it easier to troubleshoot one band at a time and to see which bands each of my devices is actually using (for example AT&T uses 3 bands here and one of my phones only supports two of them)."

For people who do have a solid signal outside, the biggest thing that divides people in Group #2 from those in Group #1 is the amount of separation between the indoor and outdoor antennas. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking maybe another indoor antenna will help your coverage; but, in reality, the best way to boost coverage is to simply increase the separation between the indoor and outdoor antennas. The reason separation is so important is because the indoor booster antenna signal can actually reach the outdoor antenna and cause feedback that shuts down the whole system. There are several things you can do to increase the separation between the antennas: 1) This kit includes a directional antenna; and, even though it's a bit harder to aim it, it does increase the separation significantly since it's aimed at the cell tower and tends to not 'see' your indoor booster antenna. "As it turns out, Verizon LTE is in band 13 (746-787 Mhz) and AT&T operates LTE in the adjacent band 17 (734-746Mhz). The effect on the phone is two-fold: one, the indoor LTE signal is relatively weak, so I have to be a few feet from the indoor antenna to get an OK LTE signal, but worse, the phone switches to 3G because that signal is so much stronger (full boost). For reference: I used the excellent Android Advanced Signal Status app to show 3G voice signal strength and separately LTE signal strength. Upon the very first look, when opening up the box, you get a sense that Cambridge SoundWorks OontZ Angle 3 is a very no-frills, inexpensive speaker. The packaging, the speaker, the extremely short, tiny USB charging cable. Conversely, the Anker SoundCore gave the impression that you were opening up a well-constructed, tiny speaker. It was packaged nicely, easy instructions, it felt a lot more substantial than the Cambridge SoundWorks OontZ Angle 3. Great packaging, a super long and thick USB charging cable that came in an eye-catching orange colored jacket. The sound coming out of the Anker SoundCore is very balanced and fairly loud for such a small speaker. I would lean more towards the 4 Star mark on the Anker SoundCore simply for delivering a very nice, balanced sound quality, and is capable of filling a small room. The Flip 3 Splashproof produced a rich, full sound that was extremely clear and thumped just the right amount of bass. Update: Even though the JBL Flip 3 Splashproof sounds very good, the Bluetooth range is awful."

Anker has reached out to me to let me know that the speaker stops playing at loud volumes to protect from hearing / device damage. At 10v 3 amps the charger is equally hot (a good thing because the heat is actually getting out of the plastic case). Anker still hasn't failed me yet, words from a long time customer studying electrical engineering. I bought the charger and it came in a week, pretty ridiculous when i'm located in the same state as Anker's shipping dept. Drove around and my phone started to vibrate like crazy, after some searching around, I found out that the center spring was way too strong. The efficiency was 81.8%. The design and layout of the circuitry is not bad at all, although i couldn't find a datasheet on the main chip MPSF14/M5402M, everything else is quite high quality. Modifications I have done, Cut the center spring 2mm shorter, cover the whole inside with thermal pads, to actually get the heat out. Build quality is pretty nice, the inductor is siliconed, solder joints looks good."

The battery I opened was verified to contain a high quality Panasonic-Sanyo NCR18650BF Lithium Ion cell, which is one of the finest cells available on the market today. - 9.99USD at Time of Review for PowerCore+ Mini in Black. Nay: - Inconsistent Fulfillment, Frequent Product Updates/Changes May Result in Order Errors and Old Product. - Inconsistent Performance of Internal DC Boost Converter Between Batteries, Affects Output Current and Capacity, Actual Available Capacity Varies Between 8.5Wh and 9.5Wh. - Possible Inconsistent Quality Control - Based on my numbers Anker deemed 2 out of 4 batteries to be possibly defective and shipped replacements (not arrived at time of this writing). In order to minimize power loss in the USB cable during whole product testing I custom-built an extra-short USB cable using 22AWG conductors, meaning that all of my numbers will be best-case scenarios for each of the batteries I tested. This was the case for me when I ordered two PowerCore+ Mini's in Black last week, and two Astro Mini's in Black showed up, although they were so close to the PowerCore+ in appearance (in fact, they are identical in appearance) that I didn't even notice the error until a couple of days later when during testing I noticed that the tail cap of the battery had "Astro Mini" written on it. At time of this writing both the Astro Mini and the PowerCore+ Mini are listed as separate products on Anker's website, and share the same capacity ratings, but have some minor published differences. During testing of the Astro Mini's I observed some troubling discrepancies that prompted me to order additional batteries. Anker's packaging has always been efficient, easy-to open, and well-thought, and these batteries were no exception. Each battery came with a short Anker USB Micro cable, a tasteful carrying case, and a short and sweet support pamphlet that tells you how to get questions answered or stuff fixed. Each battery's USB port is also covered with a sticker to remind you that the battery automatically cuts power to the port to conserve energy when not in use, and that a quick tap of the small button in the corner is all you need to get the juice flowing. Well, just do a quick search for "Lithium Ion Fire" on YouTube sometime and you'll see quickly why the FAA restricts how much lithium you can carry on an aircraft in the form of batteries, and why most major couriers won't allow you to ship Lithium batteries via Air Mail unless you have a hazmat contract with them. Serial numbers on devices this cheap are the hallmark of a manufacturer that cares because while you are unlikely to file a police report for a stolen ten dollar battery, Anker certainly wants to know which manufacturing batches are having problems, if any. ***WARNING***. I don't pull punches with batteries or battery vendors, and I didn't intend to judge this battery by its casing alone. Eventually I was able to saw off the rest of the casing without putting a scratch on the battery cell itself, and was able to reveal a Panasonic-Sanyo NCR18650BF cell soldered to a small DC boost converter PCB and USB ports. The NCR18650BF cell is a beauty of a battery cell, and represents one of the highest capacity and quality cells available on the market today. Every battery cell has two capacities. What this means is that "12.06Wh" capacity that you see on the product is only true for a couple of weeks right after Panasonic made the battery cells. By the time those cells are stored, sold to Anker, then stored again, used in manufacturing, stored again, shipped to Amazon, stored again, and then eventually shipped to you, these cells have a usable capacity of around 11.52Wh to 11.70Wh, which is actually what is reflected in the official datasheet for the NCR18650BF. I ran the NCR18650BF cell just by itself against a load of .2C or .67A and a cut-off voltage of 2.50V, the same test that Panasonic uses to get their original rating, and got a capacity of 11.4834Wh, which is just slightly under the "Minimum" rating for the cell, but it's close enough that I can't fault Anker for it. This is the real-world, best-case, available capacity of the cell before it goes through any other losses, such as those introduced by the DC/DC conversion up to 5V, before the voltage drop in your USB cable, and before the conversion losses in your device as it charges the internal battery. The harder you run the battery, the lower the available capacity of the cell is. To determine how hard the USB circuit runs the battery and look for efficiency losses, I removed the battery and connected the circuit to the monitored output on the lab power supply. Using the electronic load I applied a 5V 1A load to the USB port and monitored current draw from the power supply: USB Load Battery Load DC Boost Efficiency. 5.000V @ 1A = 5.00W 1.349A @ 4.2V = 5.67W 88.2%. 4.991V @ 1A = 4.99W 1.637A @ 3.6V = 5.89W 84.7%. 4.988V @ 1A = 4.99W 1.825A @ 3.2V = 6.06W 82.3%. Anker claims 90% efficiency with their DC converters, but since they do not publish their testing process or procedure it is impossible to know under what ideal conditions they performed their tests. Based on conversations with Anker, they are constantly updating and making changes to their designs, which is great, but because these changes aren't publicly tracked and because the batteries are sealed, there is no simple way to know what the characteristics of your battery are. It bears noting that so far all of the tests that we have discussed were performed on a battery that was labeled as "Astro Mini" and it is possible that my battery was manufactured during the early stages of the production shift. That capacity will be lower when drained faster and as you can see above, in order to charge your device at 5V @ 1A, the drain on the battery cell is more than twice that. Since modern lithium cells have a stated nominal voltage of 3.6V, I used the current draw of 1.637A and cut-off voltage of 2.50V to re-assess the capacity of the bare NCR18650BF cell to determine the actual available capacity at the higher drain rate. At the end of the day, what really matters is how the customer will use the battery, so let's get to... [Real-World Capacity and Performance]. These tests were all performed with the batteries fully sealed, assembled, and as they came directly from Amazon. In total, I tested four batteries, two of which were marked as "Astro Mini", and two of which were marked "PowerCore+ Mini", all of which were marked 3350mAh/12.06Wh. They were all designated Units A through D. For the testing procedure, I charged each battery through the USB Micro port per the instructions from Anker until they were full. I then connected each battery to the electronic load and programmed the load for a constant current draw of 1.000A, and measured the output voltage ten times per second until the battery died. PowerCore+ Mini (Black) (Unit D) A1104 9.578Wh. The difference in capacity between the best-performing battery and the worst-performing battery was over 11%!!! My notes regarding each unit tested are as follows: Astro Mini (Black) (Unit A): Discharge remained flat and stable until the battery was approximately 75% depleted, at which point the voltage became unstable and dropped significantly. Based on the erratic behavior of the drop I believe the boost circuit began to overheat as it tried to cope with the lower input voltage of the battery cell. Based on conversations with Anker this is likely due to Anker's "Voltage Boost" feature which provides a slightly higher output voltage in order to compensate for the loss in the USB cable. While this does provide a slightly faster charge, it also results in a slightly lower available battery capacity, although this small discrepancy alone does not account for the near 1Wh difference between Units C and D. PowerCore+ Mini (Black) (Unit D): Out of all four batteries, Unit D exhibited the best performance. The output was not only super-flat through the discharge cycle, the available capacity tipped the scales at 9.578Wh @ 1A draw, which was better than any other of the batteries that I tested. I would also like to make clear that charge rate and battery capacity are completely independent of each other. I ordered four of the same battery, and ended up with four batteries that performed completely differently, which brings me to... [Anker's Response]. On 11/23/2015 I forwarded my results to Anker Support along with relevant purchase dates, serial numbers, and other information they requested. It means you're potentially throwing away vast amounts of battery capacity in your external battery pack by using an inadequate cable."

"Running Mans review. around 30-35 miles a week. i use these headphones daily from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. they are extremely comfortable and user friendly they stay in my ears and never pop out like other brands i have tried. answering calls and using to talk works great i've used them while doing home projects so i could talk on the phone and work with my hands. this is my second pair and my only complaint is that with daily use the battery life after a year became to the point where i had to charge them daily and the battery life became around 1 hour and i had to buy another pair but i probably got my use out of them honestly. they also have an 18 month warranty which i probably had on the pair i threw away but forgot about it."
