Lastly, I mounted an external speaker above my head and ran a long 3.5mm audio cable through the head liner, down the A-pillar and under the carpet to the radio. Before I even ran all the power wires for the radio. When I gave it to him he couldnt believe I was able to hit him back so clearly because we were about about 20 miles apart (straight shot, not driving distance) I ended up talking with him and a few other guys who were all in the 15-20 mile range all running home base stations with towers and big power and they all complemented how well I sounded. I remembers what my last channel I was on and every other feature that I've custom set...Everythin BUT the clock. It's not a huge deal to me since I have a clock about 1 foot above the radio anyway but just thought it was worth noting."

Transmitting distance, with a CB Radio, ANY CB Radio depends on a multitude of things like, mountains, windy roads, elevation ("skip" is fun when you're on the top of an especially big/tall mountain, especially when it's the flat desert for hundred's+ of miles on the other side...Talked to MANY MANY folks from all over the SE, East, NE and I especially like "conversing" the Louisiana/Georgia area States. Man, those guys have accents that just won't quit and especially unique stories to tell...Like a different world over there and I want to visit it before I'm dead and gone and you just gotta love it! Couldn't use my Verizon Cell so I fired up my Uniden PRO520XL and after a few minutes, I finally picked up a guy who lived in Georgia. Find Best Price at Amazon"The reason to buy the Uniden unit is A) As you travel, the GPS feeds your location into the scanner and the scanner updates the frequencies it is scanning to those near you and B) because it is also plug & play. Mine arrived with the necessary cords to plug directly into the scanner, and it worked from that moment. You can connect the scanner to your PC to update the firmware and the frequency database from Uniden. I purchased a magnetic mount antenna on Amazon for about $30 (ASIN B004HM9RHE) and it works great. I have been told by the Ontario Provincial Police it is legal to have a scanner in a vehicle in Canada but have not been able to find the law on the books. For a busy dad, the simplicity is welcome and the Plug & Play No Fuss Ready-to-Use attributes actually let me enjoy the thing without brushing off my kids to learn how to make it work. It reminds me of the original Apple MacIntosh computer: A product so smart you can turn it on and use it without devoting hours of study to get it to function :-)."
"Nothing I could do would make it work. ***. When you read these reviews make sure it’s for the scanner you’re looking at. I’ve heard complete conversations on my other scanner (set for only two frequencies) that were missed on the BCD436HP because of the amount of time to scan through all the frequencies within 20 miles. The Sentinel software (latest version and USB drivers [...]) is used to really customize the scanner. When you plug the scanner into a USB port on your PC the scanner will ask if it’s a mass media device or serial. The BCD436HP comes with three (3) AA rechargeable batteries that are charged using the USB mini cable. I plugged mine in overnight when I received the scanner and it was pretty warm in the morning. The scanner also has to be turned off before the batteries will charge. While the scanner is plugged in and on it doesn’t use the batteries. You will hate this thing if you don’t understand that. I’ve read over many of the reviews and most of the one stars are people who expected to turn it on and listen to whatever they expected. It gives you step-by-step instructions and explains things the included manual doesn’t."

Find Best Price at Amazon"The only problem new users would have with the 9500ix, it alerts you so far in advance, if you didn't know any better you would write it off as another false alert. Every time it alerted me to a Ka band radar, what seems like miles later , Wham, there was a cop on the side of the road clocking people. There's one spot where my past 3 radar detectors always, and I do mean always, alerted. The only downside, while driving on the interstate to work, I get an alert telling me there's a redlight camera ahead. I'm driving to work this morning about 3:15 a.m. (so it's dark outside), my 9500ix started alerting me of a Ka radar. When I finally glimpsed the source of my alert, it was a police car with blue lights flashing, he had stopped another driving. Another real life example, again going to work my 9500ix alerted me just before I went into a slight curve in the interstate. I was alerted about 1 mile and around 2 curves before I actually ran across the police car."
"The detector does not give too many false "K" alerts and the KA band (used by Cops) alert has good range as it has gone off with a Cop car a mile or so away in a clear open highway. My car power outlets are on all the time, so I turn the radar detector on when I get into the car from a long park, and turn it off when I park for the night."
"The Escort 9500ix and Beltronics GX65 models are touted as the most sensitive window mounted units available with the new "GPS" advantage. POWER CORD- While sitting behind the wheel, the Escort 9500ix cord plugs in on the left hand side of the detector unit. Both of the detectors have a dark display mode, where the display goes completely black (for night use, so other drivers can't see your detector). Importance - Moderate. SIZE and BUTTONS - Both units of virtually the same size, however, I personally prefer the shape and button layout of the Beltronics GX65. Importance - Low. WINDOW MOUNT - Both the 9500ix and GX65 use the same exact window mounts. Both of these units tap the window when driving. Importance - Moderate. GPS "LOCKOUT" CAPABILITY - Both units have the ability to "Lockout" any false signal. When you know the detector is sensing a false signal, all you need to do is tap a button three times and it will permanently lock out the false signal. The only GPS negative is when you're driving down the interstate and you drive over an intersection with a red light camera. You drive a false signal 3 times and the 9500ix will automatically lock out the signal permanently. With this feature, theoretically, after a few weeks of driving, you should be able to drive around your home area, never touch your detector and all false signals will be locked out. Importance - Moderate. SENSITIVITY - This area is the most important of all."

"Cons. - The website used for all tracking and reporting IS NOT HTTPS (secured using TLS / SSL); your logon and password are sent unencrypted for the tracking portal. - Your entire browsing session for the SpyTec Portal IS NOT HTTPS; anyone able to sniff your network traffic knows exactly what you are browsing while on the Portal. - The GPS seems to be off by up to about 30-40 feet on our unit; may lead to improper street address resolution. - The web portal seems to be geared to tracking "drivers," as if this product is only to be used for tracking vehicles. Pros. - The SpyTec web portal is well thought out in general. - The web portal can be accessed from any modern browser, not limiting you to a specific Android or iOS application, for example. - The service does allow you to define areas to be notified when the GPS leaves / returns to certain area. - It appears to be much more effective than bracelet GPS devices sold for children, especially in that it works to some extent inside buildings. - Mapping / Reporting is based on Google Maps, and that's pretty nice. Background: We purchased this unit to track our 3 year old child that suffers from an Autistic Spectrum Disorder."
