So, I install the system on a newer LED tv that has a 5.1 pass through on the optical port and bam! The playbar is a great anchor for the TV when it comes to dialogue and as it acts as a front pair and center speaker for the whole system during movies and music. As mentioned at the start of this diatribe, Sonos needs to get off their elitist butts and add HDMI connectivity and support for DTS. After reading through countless forum threads about the issue, it almost seems as if the Sonos team takes a certain pride in telling their paying faithful to shut up and colors they decide are in our best interest. I would recommend it if you can afford it, you aren't looking for audiophile ego strokes, you want to scrap the wires, and if you have a TV that passes the full 5.1 through the optical port."

"I bought three Bluetooth speakers hoping ONE would be usable. I bought the Cambridge SoundWorks Oontz Angle 3, the Anker Classic Portable, and the Boombotix REX. If you want to nitpick, the Boombotix is the smallest, the Anker is next, and the Cambridge is the largest. The Boombotix is sturdy and easy to use, the buttons are a little close together, but they work well. The Cambridge Angle 3 is sturdy and I love the shape. The rubber end caps are a mixed blessing. I recommend standing it up if you put a lot of volume through it because once the bass starts to thump it will bounce and wiggle it's way all over the place. But standing up the passive radiator on the bottom doesn't propel it all over. None of them are on par with the large Sound Dock or Klipsch type speakers, but they could hardly be expected to compete with those at this size and price.The Cambridge is my favorite because it has more bass than the other two. There's an audio out jack, which you can use to run a second speaker (of any make). I chose the Angle 3, it fits my needs best with the best imitation of bass, but the others are good enough that I've decided to keep them and use them too."

I'm also biased against today's tendency for consumer speakers to emphasize bass response over every other frequency range. My wife and I listened to each of them across a wide range of music from classical to folk to hip-hop to pop to hard rock, trying to get a sense of which we liked better. People used to the punchy sound emphasized by consumer speaker and headphone manufacturers, however, may find that the music lacks a bit of life. Size and Build: The SoundCore Sport XL is about 7 x 3 x 1.75 inches and wrapped in what feels like very sturdy, slightly rubbery plastic. The biggest issue with the design is that I found myself constantly grabbing into the bass port on the back, which includes a metal cover over a stretchy membrane for a passive woofer."

That being said, the Sonos:Connect was a delight in terms of setup and ease of use (5 stars for these areas alone), but a real disappointment in terms of sound quality (2 stars). I bought a Sonos:Connect to plug into my home stereo, and a Sonos Bridge to wirelessly stream the music on my computer to it. So you won't see album artwork on your controller unless you bought the files from the iTunes or another online store that embeds the artwork, or go through a process to copy the artwork into the files themselves via iTunes (Sonos has a good description of how to do this on their support website).]. Once I connected everything and streamed my first song, I noticed that the sound quality was off. I plugged the Connect into the DAC via the optical connecter, plugged the DAC into my stereo ... and problem solved. At any rate, I now have both great sound and the great ease of use that comes with the Sonos."

Pairing with a phone is by the usual procedure and it works perfectly using Bluetooth which gives very fast connection and clear sound (see video). I could not find the actual weather protection rating of the speaker however I think it is fair to say that this speaker would need to be kept away from water. I think everyone understands the concept of bass and in that respect, it has very strong bass as you would expect with such an impressive subwoofer. I experimented with a good quality graphic equaliser on my phone and found that whatever setting I chose, be it pre-set or manually adjusted, the speaker produced clear, clean sound without distortion or vibration. It is completely capable of providing great sound quality without distortion for a whole wide range of music genres and if you want to push bass, high ends etc."
