"He poured boiling water on them, let them sit a while and then fried them on the camp stove. Since then I've found that they're also a very useful item to have in the pantry. You can use boiling water, if you like, but I just fill the container with water up to the top of the dried potato level and boil it in the microwave oven. When it's done and almost all the water is gone, I let it sit a while for the dried potatoes to absorb any remaining moisture."
