Locking the bar down does take some really strong hands with these, but having the two bars versus the one makes a lot of difference when it comes to causing the device to loosen every other day. The lower the center of gravity is to the locking mechanism when you get up, pulling with all your weight makes all the difference in the world as far as causing the bar to loosen. The vise grips that tighten along the tub are lined with rubber pads to keep from scratching your tub, but also it keeps the bar from slipping when locked in. Now my mom is able to get in and out of the tub safely, and without a bar that slips on her."
