In addition, I also purchased the USB meter x 2, and the software reports are simple to print out for my visits to the Doc. (I won't go in to detail why I have such an expensive test device other than to say I maintain a 160 gallon live coral reef tank). Since I purchased a backup unit, given the inexpensive price, the LOT number on the meter was different, meaning it likely was manufactured at a different time or plant. Well, if you were using two meters at the same time the potential deviation could be double at worst based on the empirical testing. I have nothing negative to say about this meter or the test strips despite my intent to determine any negative issues because I am a professional engineer, and I work with technology, and accuracy, AKA Quality Assurance, and when it comes to my BG, if I switch products, I do the same analysis."

"If BACtrack can't identify this as a quality issue and honestly address it, why would I trust them to let me know when I am blowing over the legal limit? My bottom line is that I either get a replacement from BACtrack, or I purchase the Trace from Costco and leverage my membership guarantee every time it doesn't pass calibration. The units are expected to last anywhere from 3-5 years (time dependent not based on number of reads). Their calibration service consists of reading the device at high, low and mid BAC standards and comparing it to the acceptable range. According to their customer service, this is a common occurrence after owning the device for three years. At least put an expiration date or some sort of specification that lets your customers know about this or else you'll inevitably have blood on your hands. If it fails to properly operate and there is not safeguard or printed date, then good luck to you buddy!"

My methodology is to test every morning and if a reading is abnormally low or high then I retest another finger.
