The ridgeline is sitting at a little over 15' tall, (I closed in the back half of where I used to store my camper) so I wasn't expecting miracles or anything, which was a good thing because I didn't get any. I went inside & brought out the trusty box fan, turned it on, & angled it towards the ceiling to circulate some of the accumulated warm air floating around above my work area. Sure, like other reviewers mentioned, it smokes a little out of the cracks in the door, but after the fire is rolling, everything finds its way up the pipes & is drawn outside. I also had an old piece of small railroad track & a large splitting wedge I placed on top of the stove to collect & radiate a little more heat."
"Installed this in my camper."
"This stove bypasses the EPA regulations because of a sticker on the back that says it is not for indoor installation and only should be used to heat a wall tent or something like that. Maybe Sportsman's Guide will see this and put those up for sale but if not one could simply purchase a piece of 4 inch steel pipe in the length that is required instead of the chimney. Other than that the front door on the stove is high quality as is the Box though the little latch needed some bending and adjusting to function properly."
"So, a 45 degree elbow on second pipe out of stove, double wall pipe thru wall, 45 degree elbow, then 2 or 3 remaining pipes to finish."
"I like the fact that the fitting for the stove pipe and the legs bolt securely in place and that the door is cast iron."

Feauturing a heavy cast iron door with a cool-touch wood handle and air washed ceramic glass, which allows a magnificent view of the burning fire, this fireplace insert will be a beautiful addition to your existing hearth. Cast iron feed door with large 16.5" x 9" ceramic glass window.

Find Best Price at Amazon"I was GOING to buy it from Amazon, but I found a significantly lower price from another northern based tool store. In the end, I DID get the stove significantly cheaper, but the seller I bought if from sells the surround separately. Moral of the story here folks is, it pays to shop around a bit if you are going to buy this product on Amazon. If I had paid the full Amazon asking price, the honest truth is that I would have been disappointed in this stove, and here is why. In thee most PERFECT lab testing conditions, This stove might produce the advertised BTU output, for a short period of time. It's like the BTU rating is the highest output they were ever able to get out of the stove,,, with like maybe a blower feeding air directly to the fire like a bellows. And in a perfectly insulated room, inside a building, being completely closed off to any wind from outside, this may heat the square feet they advertise. If this were upstairs in my living room, I believe that it would keep the living room and maybe kitchen, (approx 500 sq ft) toasty warm,,,, as long as you are maintaining the fire at fairly constant and regular intervals. I do not believe that it would adequately heat the back half of my ranch home, (Approx 500 sq ft). Larger chunks of wood you will have a hard time fitting in the fire box, especially if it is full of coals. Consequently, you have to tend this stove very regularly in order to get consistent heat output. You got 5 hours tops from a freshly filled stove, to coals just barely enough to restart the fire. But more importantly, if you let the stove burn for 5 hours, you won't be putting out steady heat over that period. What this stove really is,,, is for a "living room" in a space where you might want some extra heat, and most importantly, the ambiance of a nice wood fire. So I will give you all the tips I have learned to burn this stove so that it puts out a decent amount of heat consistently. I also had times when I ended up putting out what I thought was a pretty decent fire when I closed the draft control down. In the beginning, it even helps to leave the door open just a crack for 5 to 10 min. Then close the door, and leave the draft control wide open. Before those coals burn down, I mean when they are just broken down enough to spread out, but still have a tremendous amount of energy to release, (About an hour to hour and a half in), spread the coals out and re stack with wood. There is a graduated incline scale cut out of the metal where the draft control is. You want to turn the draft control down so the little rod handle is just under the division between the last and second to last cut out. You won't be able to stand in front of the stove for long now without wanting to move away some. If you do not tend this stove and keep the fire going hot, your heat output will sea saw up and down. And every time you let it dip, the stove has to recover in order to put out good heat again. The walls are block, the floor is concrete, and it has never been able to bring my basement up above 60 degrees not matter how long or hard that I burn it. Ideally what I need is a stove that I can load, and let it burn for hours, like a traditional stove, and have the heat out put to heat up the space fairly quickly.I want to tend the fire maybe once or twice during the time I am in the space."
"I always use the blower and it keeps my large family room and kitchen nice and toasty. Fits perfect in our fireplace and the clean design goes great with our contemporary style home."
"The one thing I have learned is that when they say use seasoned, dry wood they really mean it. I have noticed excellent performance when using wood bought from a local home improvement store versus wood purchased in a local wood yard that was supposed to be dry. I plan to buy next years' wood this spring in hopes of having an easier time next winter by letting it dry over the summer months."
"The little unit does a good job at putting a decent amount of heat into the house, despite the low EPA rating. Since it is a smaller unit, you must realize that it may take an hour or 2 to really get the unit hot and heating the house. My main goal for the unit was not to heat the entire house, but rather lower my oil consumption."

This Drollet unit is 78 percent efficient, and keeps our 1200 sf home warm easily. each evening, when I get up at 6-7 the next morning, the house is still warm, there are still coals sizzling inside the stove and it is a snap to relight."
"It is the primary source of heat in my 2000 sf home, though I do have a forced air furnace and a small toyotomi stove. Since this is a conventional stove, if you are looking for very long burn times, go catalytic, but if you enjoy watching a roaring fire, you can't go wrong with this one!"
"Excellent woodstove!!"
"The built in damper is a plus to empmty the ashes into the pan there is a 4 inch square hole in the middle of the bottom of the firebox dam good stove worth every penny beats a Lopi."
"The one thing I didn't realize with this Drolet until after the first time using it - they don't seem to advertise this in it's features - is that the top rear vents act as a convection stove with heat being pushed out of them, almost feeling like it has a fan pushing heat into the living area, when the stove doesn't even have a fan on it!! I'm not kidding - even with my big house (one story) and long bitter cold northcentral Wisconsin winters, I still find myself more often than not keeping it dampered down to the number II (out of IIII) position on it's built in slide damper (on the front stove vent) providing great plenty of heat. 'Tho, this stove is so efficient that that really hasn't been a problem either so far."
"ft. 2 story house that is kept comfortable with only this stove as a heat source in the lower level with outside temps in the low thirties F."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I will welcome the cold this winter with my pellet stove. And I hope that you will be, too, so here is my review and bits of information (particularly aimed if you are new to pellet stoves, like me.). :). * Update 2: it's February 15, 2016 going through the "Cold Blast" Valentines Day weekend 3 degrees Fahrenheit during the day plus gusty winds and 18 below zero Fahrenheit to the -20's at night and this pellet stove is heating like a champ keeping large uninsulated place at 68F, consuming around 1 1/2 bags to 2 bags in 24 hours. I comparison shopped pellet stoves for weeks and found that purchasing the Pleasant Hearth Cabinet style with the 120 pound hopper and 50,000 BTU's (heating up to 2,200 sq ft) via Amazon was the best value. With all of my research about pellets I have learned the key is * Don’t feed cheapo wood pellets to your stove if you want it to perform well. I highly recommend this Pellet stove! Detailed Version: This is my first pellet stove purchase (although my family had 2 multifuel stoves when I was a kid) and I am very happy with it. I know it is a bit early to review, but the cold season is coming and if you are in the market for a pellet stove that heats more than 2,000 sq ft for under $2,000- consider this Pleasant Hearth Cabinet style or, PelPro PP130 has a 130 pound hopper, up to 50,000 BTUs, and heats up to 2,200 sqft or, Vogelzang Large Hopper Pellet Stove that has 120 lb. I realized there are few more things needed beyond this pellet stove purchase to get the stove up and running. The pellet stove comes with an outside air intake kit but that is different from the exhaust piping that the pellet stove needs to work. It can be also be purchased at Home Depot for $197.00 This 3 inch diameter pellet stove exhaust kit comes with everything needed it is easy to install and put together. Also because of my stove location and desired vent height, I bought additional 36 inch stove piping from the Tractor Supply Company store that was $34.99. Extra piping in 12 inch or 36 inch lengths and more are also readily available at hardware stores that sell pellet stoves. For the ease of maneuvering this 235 pound w/box+pallet stove (180 pounds stove only), at the delivery guy's suggestion, we unboxed the stove but left it on the pallet, then it was wheeled and guided into and through the house (we also removed the parts that were in plastic bags inside the cabinet). The delivery person was very conscientious not to damage my house or the pellet stove. If you want to quick reset on a cold stove pulling the power plug and waiting 15 seconds always works, but not recommended for hot stoves. It is very automatic once the pellets are in the hopper and the stove is on. Pellet Prices in Northern New England (North of the Notches): Premium Bags of pellets in Northern NE cost about $5-6. My Local Ace Hardware: Oakanagan Premium Softwood $299/ton or 60 bags a pallet/$358. Logik-e Premium Hardwood $289/ton or 55bags pallet/$317.90. LG Premium Softwood $279/ton/50 bags pallet $279 or 75bags/pallet $418.50. I have read a lot about Pellet quality… this will make or break your stove (literally and figuratively). You can drop the bag a sealed bag a few times to attempt to break up the pellets or just get another pellet brand. If your pellets smell bad then there are other additives to the pellets. A wise old mountain man, who has survived wicked Northern New England winters, by burning wood pellets alone since 2002, gave me his advice: Pellets from Canada are the best and highest ranking since Canada has pellet standards that are mandated for quality assurance. The old-timer pellet stove user warned me to avoid pellets from Maine. So there you have it- his opinion on pellets and my opinion on the Pleasant Hearth Cabinet Stove."
"My wife and I love this stove."
"The control is handy and makes me glad I switched from wood on the borderline days when it's just chilly when the room reaches the set temp."
"It has a one year guarantee but they tell you in fine print to call the company that makes these stoves, not taking any responsibility for themselves."
"A much better heater, go buy an England Smartstove and save yourself the headache of ever having to deal with this company's service."
"If I could give this piece of crap stove a worse review I would."
"I have had this unit (PH50PS) for approximately one week."
"It was not running on max when set, now it only runs on max even when the control is set to zero."

"Finally installed it the other day and fired it up."

Find Best Price at Amazon"All these reviews telling you how great the flame effects are, and nobody bothered to post a video. If I had to rate the effects of this stove from 1 to 10 (With 10 being a real fire), I'd have to give it a solid 8! With that said, don't look to use this heater as a main source of heat (Unless you live in a warm climate to begin with). 5,000 watts will not bring a house to a pleasant 74-degrees if the outside ambient temperature is like 30-degrees! Instead, look to use this heater as a supplement to your main heating system to keep your home (or medium room) a bit more comfortable."
"The remote will adjust levels of the fire but will only turn the heat on or off not adjust temperature, It can also set a timer. The light adjustments for the fire are cool too, allowing you to adjust different levels of flames."
"It kept us very warm at night even during the coldest of nights (lowest at night was 9 degrees F). I did run 4 space heaters (this one, a Lasko, and a radiator heater, plus one small 1500 watt utility heater) in 2 bedrooms, the living room & the washroom. We are still in some cold weather and I have learned to close off rooms that are not used, also put up curtains to close off rooms without a door (like the hallway that connects to the living room and the kitchen door that goes into the den) which helps to keep the warm air in that certain area without allowing in drafts. Closing off sections of the house we are not using in the cold days and nights has helped greatly to keep the rooms we are in warmer. it is one of the best heaters I have and would buy again from this brand. My reasons for picking this heater is because I wanted something that will stay cool to the touch and is hard to knock over because I have a 3-year-old and cats that are curious about anything in the house and I don't want any of them getting burned. I wanted a heater that would comfortably warm an ice cold room (old house, it gets very cold) both day and night and one that will last not only this winter but the next winter too."
