"This is a beautifully crafted tool, that has been obviously carefully engineered by Dremel. Thank you Dremel for so many decades of producing fine, useful tools for us DIY craftsmen."
"In addition to this I would have liked to see a way to lock the spring loaded drill press in a down position for when you are using it to cut or route areas out, this way you could drill down, lock it in position at a set height and carry on with your cut rather than having to loosen and adjust the entire mechanism. In the end this is a great accessory if you need an affordable solution for using your dremel as a drill press, or if you need a vice etc."
"The first time I tried using it: I attached the rotary tool and lowered it on a small plastic part."

"Yes, there is a little bit of flex between the post and the actual machine head but it was not enough to cause significant drill deflection, even at max throw and minimum chuck."
"The only con I have found thus far is the table handle being on the left side - however, for the price I can deal with it. 01/15/17 Update: Drilled a bunch of holes today in 1/2" thick steel Flat bar for a project, and it performed well."
"I am not a huge fan of how the depth guide works, the two nut setup is kind of a challenge to get right because the space is so tight to get a wrench in there. The nuts on my drill press were so tight, I had a hard time getting them loose in order to adjust the depth. If there was an alternate way to set the depth, or perhaps if the guide was moved outward a little from the head of the unit, that would make it easier to adjust. Once I freed the nuts, they have become a little easier to move, but the gap between the nuts / depth guide-rod and the head of the drill press is a little tight, so it does make getting the fingers in there a bit tight."
"Attach stand to foot with 3 bolts, slide on the table, put the motor unit assembly on, tighten 2 hex key screws, put the chuck in by hand and give it a few good taps with a covered hammer and then plug it in and drill some holes. Unbeknownst to me, they now make chuck keys that cannot be left in the chuck. This Wen chuck key however has a small spring bar insert, so you have to push the key into the chuck and then the springs force pushes it back out."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I purchased this drill press because my lovely Delta DP350's variable speed transmission failed and Delta stopped offering spare parts for it, I had to Scrap it out. The Press was shipped to me, it arrived very quickly, assembled quickly and worked beautifully. I'm accustomed to a Big Clausing Industrial drill press and Bridgeport Milling machines so I have experience in these things. This is an ideal woodworker's drill press, it's probably not an Industrial Steel workhorse press, it has sufficient power for my largest Forstner Bit ( 2 1/4" )."
"OK, I had a 8 inch harbor freight drill press and needed a taller drill press, so after some research I decided on splurging for the WEN 4214 12 inch, wow, when it arrived a used my hand truck to get it up stairs to my work shop. oh and it is nice and quiet.... UPDATE: 02/02/2015 OK, finally had a chance to use my new WEN 4214 12 inch drill press."
"The crank to raise and lower the table works fine. Gripes: - The chuck key has a little spring loaded pin in the end that prevents you from accidentally leaving the key in the chuck. I remedied that by drilling holes straight through and put a bolt across the entire base through the pole. -The table tilt requires loosening a nut (it comes with cheap wrench to do this). You won't find another motor this big on anything else this size or price point. You can set both and just move the bit up and down rapidly if you're making several holes. -The plug is long, cord is flexible, and beefy enough for the motor. Just punch a small mark and your bit will be true every time. -Other than the handle knobs, the switch, and LCD/front panel, i haven't found any plastic on this."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Actually, there's a problem with the way it's packaged, (see picture) not Amazon's fault and I don't really blame the shipper. My initial impression "out of the box" was quite positive, table is nicely machined, painting is well done and general fit and finish is excellent . I chucked a piece of drill rod and set the table to "0" using a high quality machinist square. There is no mechanism, such as a lever, to apply tension to the drive belt but that's not a problem, just loosen the two wing nuts and push on the motor to tension then tighten the wing nuts. I do have some concern with the motor though as it gets quite hot after running for 15 minutes or so under very light load drilling 1/8" holes in pine. It's hands down the nicest small drill press I've seen and I believe would please most all users."
"I'll use the drill for drilling regular holes, and it works well with Forstner bits, but I'll be cutting mortises by hand until I can get a dedicated mortising machine."
"I received my Drill press last week (Nov 11/2012) but haven't had a chance to open the box and assemble it. The clamping system for the base works very well and allows the user to keep the base really snugly in position (a must for accurate drilling). It seemed to get pretty reasonable alignment but I still need to adjust for some small drill wander. The laser alignment works (I might do a bit of minor adjustment but nothing radical). For those interested I tried using my x-y base to do some milling (with a drill bit!). I think this is going to work really well once I get some proper milling bits that are meant to cut sideways."
"Despite the reviews saying that the allignment was good, the one I purchased - the drill platform was not perpendicular to the drill bit or to the main support post - so there was a significant angle off of 90 degrees that could not be adjusted."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Note that EVERYTHING you need is in the kit: a DeWalt router, motors, electronics, even software for the controller. I'm not an experts but every part that I kner about personally was of good quality (for instance, the DeWalt router). Well, I ended up buying a DC motor control to adjust the speed of the router---30.000 RPM is too fast for aluminum, but be aware if you do this that power decreases as the router slows and you have to slow down feeds. I've been wanting a CNC router for years but found other kits too expensive."
"It is made of wood and precision suffers a lot because of the Z axis assembly that does not align with the Z axis shaft perfectly (more about this below) and because the whole router assembly flexes on the gantry. The result is that when I send a set of commands in a G-Code file (more on this below) that will cut a square on acrylic by cutting 0.05 of an inch deep at 5 inches per minute (which is a very slow speed) , the corners are not perfectly 90 degrees because the router is not perfectly perpendicular when it changes direction due to the flex (more on accuracy below). 3) The Z axis motor and rod coupler is cut in a spiral to avoid off center movement but that does not help enough as I am unable to align the Z motor shaft with the Z threaded rod perfectly and you can see the motor (and a little the router) move back and forth while the router is moving up and down. That is very annoying and I believe that it can even affect accuracy (on deep cuts) since the router is slightly oscillating while it is moving up and down. There are 2 pieces that hold the belt ends on the back of the router assembly that you should make sure that the “teeth” cuts are on the upper side. If you put these on wrong, you will have hard time correcting them after the router assembly is mounted on the rails and you are about to put the belt on. If you cross connect the X1 and X2, when later you “Home” the machine, the gantry assembly will run the opposite direction and there will be no switch there to stop it which will result in damage to the belts. In the end I was told that they would send me a new board if I wanted but I was able to square put the board on squared to the machine frame so I am good for now. Also note that I routed the cabling away from the "Home" side of the router and made a small L shaped bracket out of aluminum to mount the power supply in a way that I can see the power light (see pictures). In this case while I am cutting 1/4 inch thick acrylic, when the router gets the command to change direction the cutter bit is not all the way to the edge due to the flex of the router and that results to a square with rounded and not 90 degree corners. G90 (Absolute positioning). G20 (Values are in inches). G17 (XY selection). F5.00 (When the command is "G1" the speed of the movement, a.k.a "Feed Rate", will be 5" per minute). G0 Z0.0500 (Raise the Z axis 0.05" above zero, a.k.a "Z Safe"). G0 X-2.0000 Y-2.0000 (Move X and Y to the lower left corner). G1 Z-0.0300 (Lower the Z axis 0.03" under the surface so the rest of the commands cut 0.03" deep). G1 Y2.0000 (Move Y to the upper left corner). G1 X2.0000 (Move X to the upper right corner). G1 Y-2.0000 (Move Y to the lower right corner). G1 X-2.0000 (Move X to the lower left corner which is the starting point). G1 Z-0.0600 (Move Z axis deeper to 0.06"). ...The rest should repeat the same commands until the square is cut as deep as the thickness of the material. Now, I found that the square comes out better if I write G-Code that cuts 4 straight lines lifting the Z axis at the end of each line but it is still slightly off square. To compensate for that, I push the gantry (X axis) tight to home and then power on the laptop which locks the motors and keeps the gantry squared. ***Update 11/23/2017: I was finally able to cut perfect squares and circles on acrylic using these SHINA Titanium Coat Carbide End Mill Engraving Bits. These cutters are very sharp and cut acrylic without putting too much pressure on the router and the gantry. Still, I had to cut in 0.0300 increments and feed rate of 10 inches per minute which takes a lot of time for such a simple task***. So, if you want this machine to engrave words and shapes on wood, it may serve you well."
