Find Best Price at Amazon"A couple of notes for anyone looking at this incubator: It comes with everything you need to hatch eggs - thermometer, hygrometer, candler, etc. If you're going to hand turn or you're hatching blue jays, I can see the upper limit of 12 (or even more) being accurate. Also along this line - be prepared to dump moist paper towels in to get the humidity back up in a hurry if you're pulling chicks out for the brooder while you still have eggs in the incubator. I incubated 6 eggs from my favorite hen and, using the same guidelines listed above, ended up with a 6/6 hatch out of that batch, too."

The issue with just pouring water in the bottom, it creates a surface area the size of the whole unit; which is great for the last 3 hatching days but very bad previous to that.
