Best Soldering Tip Cleaners

Hakko 599B-02 Wire-type soldering iron tip cleaner
The Hakko 599B-02 is a replacement solder tip cleaning wire sponge. No contamination risk compared to conventional tip tinners.
Reviews
"The brass is softer than the soldering iron's tip, but it's harder than the oxidized crud that builds upon the iron's tip."
"Hated using a wet sponge because it reduces the tinning effect on the tips causing premature wear."
"Works great, cleans tips far better than a sponge with little chance of picking up leftover solder."
"I only wish the bottom wasn't fit so tight to the top as it makes cleaning a bit of a task."
"This works much better at cleaning a solder iron tip than a wet sponge."
"Order this along with some other items for my hobby / side business I've always had and reserved about if these things actually worked I've seen them on YouTube but thought why not try one."
"The Hakko 599B-02 Solder Tip Cleaning Wire and Holder is well made."
"The brass pad works so much better than the sponge. Every so often when the brass starts to fill up, I empty the container and "fluf" (for lack of a better word) the brass sponge."

"Seems like a great way to salvage irons when they're beyond the use of a sponge or brass mesh."

"Made my old iron work good again."
"It tins your tip very quick and it stays throughout the duration the iron is powered."
"This stuff is pretty much phenomenal!"
"You stick the tip and it gets all shiny."

"This is a great kit for the price, the iron having adjustable temp makes it very useful for many projects but as the information states you have to be careful about leaving it laying down when turned up on higher settings, I left it for a few minutes and it was glowing red!"
"Extremely efficient and far superior in performance to a bigger one that I have."
"The 6 in 1 electric soldering iron kit was perfect for my needs. The case the kit comes with is great."
"It includes a carry case, soldering iron, 5 solder tips, soldering sucker, solder tin wire tube, and a stand with cleaning sponge."
"This electric soldering iron is very nice, it works very well and is about as handy as any I have seen, or used!"
"The biggest problem I have, and have heard this from others also, is that while it is adjustable and the temp dial shows 200 - 450' C, it doesn't turn on until i have it turned to 350-375 or so, and i actually have a need for low temp soldering (250'C)."
"Received a replacement after the first one I received was faulty so now I am here updating my review about it.The reason I changed this from 2 stars to five is because the item is exactly as described, working and all items are there."
"Edit, A replacement was sent and works great."

"And when you actually manage to get something sucked up, then one needs to set down the soldering gun/iron, pull it open, clean it out, reassemble it, then repeat the process over and over again!"
"The soldering pump is of good build quality and has a knurled finish around common grip points to keep it secure in your hand. This thing sucks, and that's a good thing for a desoldering pump!"
"The solder sucker took me a few tried to get the hang of but once I did, it worked very wall."
"Great seller they listen to what you have to say and act accordingly."
"Hint: When the solder sucker plugs up, just take a small rod, like maybe a jeweler's screwdriver and push the blockage up into the solder sucker."
"Had to remove 8 large output transistors from my beloved Adcom GFA-555 amp in order to identify which had gone bad."
"Release the piston and see if it holds vacuum."
"Not even the copper strip works, thing is useless, does not adhere to the solder."

"Release the piston and see if it holds vacuum."
"Without the solder sucker it would have been almost impossible to remove plus the possibility of damaging the board."

Reviews
"I expected to be working on a range of devices, from 100 amp power connectors to trying to fudge an 0805 SMT resistor back into place. But the curved end tool is good for grabbing small springs, and as for the rest - well, the space in the bag is useful to hold a set of flat and JIS cross (not-Philips) drivers. The other tools in the kit are good quality for the price, especially the solder sucker which is made of aluminum rather than plastic. I'm guessing Amazon can accommodate you there :J. Overall, I gave this 5 * not because it's the greatest soldering iron - it's not - but because the vendor really managed to pack a lot of value into that $29 zipper bag."
"Eventually you will want to step up to a Hakko iron and Hakko desoldering iron, but if you can't afford that, this will get you going. The vacuum desoldering pump works well, but should only be used in an emergency."
"The stand is small but the kit gets the job done."
"The solder sucker didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped, and, if you are planning on desoldering, you will need solder wick which is not included (and I found out the hard way)."
"Just used it to solder some headers on a tiny (almost fits into a beer ottle cap) pcb."
"You should go get some ROSIN (not acid) flux (or a flux pen) to use with this kit."
"My only nit would be that I keep changing the heat level while working without realizing it."
"I bought this and in one week fixed (by resoldering) $50 pair of headphones, a MacBook MagSafe2 charger ($80), and a custom Arduino-based heart rate sensor (someone did a poor job soldering the wires to the sensor (about the size of a dime)."
