Writing Magic: Creating Stories That Fly
She shows how you can get terrific ideas for stories, invent great beginnings and endings, write sparkling dialogue, develop memorable characters—and much, much more. Sections titled "Liftoff," "Heart and Guts," "Plowing Through," "Digging Deeper," and "Writing Forever" address such topics as coming up with story ideas, developing characters and plot, and finding opportunities for publication. Among the topics she covers are shaping characters, beginnings and endings, revising, and finding ideas. But the best part of Levine's book is her honesty as she shares with children the truth that there are no perfect books, that rejection can be as useful as success, and that you thank the creative part of you by using the ideas that it sends.

"I teach writing to English Language Learners, adults, and find this book very helpful. My daughter has also read a few books for this author (Ella Enchanted,The Wish (rack),The Fairy's Mistake (Princess Tales)) so it made a lot of sense when she described the characters and setting in this wonderful book; but you would not necessarily need such a background."

Some Writer!: The Story of E. B. White (Ala Notable Children's Books. All Ages)
Boston Globe-Horn Book Nonfiction Award Honor recipient Caldecott Honor winner Sweet mixes White’s personal letters, photos, and family ephemera with her own exquisite artwork to tell the story of this American literary icon. Readers and writers will relate to stories of White's childhood—he was "scrawny" and "fearful" but in love with words. The book is illustrated in Sweet's signature watercolor and collage, which incorporates wood and hardware, vintage office supplies, and quotes from White. "Much later he became a writer for children after his long affiliation with animals of all kinds on his farm. He was especially fond of one particular pig, He also became fascinated with the ways of the common grey spider, and from these two critters, he wove the story of Charlotte's Web. This book is filled with illustrations, photos, letters, and quotes to help us get to know this fine gentleman. I am looking forward to reading "The Right Word, Roget and His Thesaurus," written by Jen Bryant and illustrated by Melissa Sweet. White, including "The Elements of Style," with William Strunk Jr., and "Stuart Little" along with a long overdue reread of "Charlotte's Web", are also calling my name."
"Even if you're not an aspiring writer, you'll be inspired by EB White's story told and depicted so beautifully you almost want to cry."
"White deserves some kind of monument, a wonderful and humane writer."

"Lovely, interesting book!"
"You will NEVER read a more beautifully written and illustrated book (Melissa Sweet is AMAZING)!"
"Lovely biography, makes you wish you lived next Door!"
"Love the book."

First 100 Words
Your little one will soon learn some essential first words and pictures with this bright board book. Roger lives in London and has three children, who have been the inspiration behind many of his best publishing ideas.
Reviews
""First 100 Words" by Roger Priddy was bought as a gift for my sons’s first birthday and it is the perfect book for a one year old. It is quite a basic book and the sort of board book most children will have at some stage in their life. This version of the book is pretty small (it's 5 x 6 inches; an over-sized ABC/colors version can be found here), and it can withstand rough little hands as it is a board book."
"This book is perfect for the diaper bag!"
"I really wanted this book for my little girl since she is having a hard time learning but we have noticed she does good with photos."
"My toddler loves this book!"
"This is necessary for every child."
"I love this book, it’s colorful and captures attention of my baby."
"Extremely well made little fat word book for my handsome new step-grand-baby."
"Gift for my great grandson's first Christmas."
