Find Best Price at Amazon"I really enjoyed this collection, even though it's actually 16 books compacted together that I managed to finish in one day, there are a couple of things I need to point out: 1) The punctuation is disastrous, there are dots, commas and question marks often out of place or missing (I had no particular problems understanding, but some readers might). 2) There is lots of killing and violence (i.e. slicing off arms and heads) and monstrous creatures (zombies, hell hounds) that, while not explicitly described, might cause a few problems (as for me, I wasn't affected by it since everything in Minecraft is blocky and not scary to me). 3) The last part about time-travel and parallel worlds was quite confusing, and I admit I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the previous adventures, but hopefully the next book (part 17, I'm waiting for the Kindle Unlimited version) will clear things up."

"I recommend this book for everyone interested in coding."
"Plenty of graphics keep the text from overwhelming the eyes, there is a wonderful timeline of developments from the earliest tools like the abacus to the release of the first iPhone, as well as a chart listing the various programming languages and how they are generally used. Whether young readers are looking for a discussion of terms and actions related to programming, or they want to find out what sort of fields depend on programmers, they will find plenty of information."
"I have an almost 6-year old who told me the other day she "loves" this book - although I think it's for the high school age demographic, I love that my daughter will pick it up and read it a bit at a time."
"I am a Girls Who Code alumni, and I would totally recommend this program because it not only taught me logic and many vast coding languages (Python, C#, HTML, etc."
"This book is wonderful introduction to computer science for girls who are totally new to coding."
"“Learn to code” in the title is misleading."
"No woman or man should feel that is being suggested as a some part of the equation of success. Wish this book hadn't left me with the feeling that the author looked with sourness at my career decision. My 12 year old daughter, a ferocious reader, and who codes for 30 minutes every day "hated" this book."

"kid loved it and already finished the whole thing!!"
"Great step-by-step guide with plenty of room for creativity."
"Great little book for beginning programmers."
"This book includes pictures, complete easy-to-follow instructions and the final "code" of the program so it's gentle enough to be read by 10+ years old kids but it's always better when there's an adult around to learn together."
"This is a very well written book, specially for the young who want to get started with programming."
"Al Sweitgart walks the reader through the process of building 8 games in the Scratch language, and uses easy-to-understand explanations that make it possible for adults and kids to build their own games in Scratch!"
"This time, Scratch, a graphical programming language developed by the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) with the intent to teach kids programming is his target. Yet, exactly this graphical nature is what makes Scratch one of the best introductory languages into the huge, exciting world of programming. Since the author, Al Sweigart is no stranger to writing programming books (his other books "Automate the Boring Stuff with Python" and "Invent Your Own Computer Games with Python", to name only two, are some of the most commonly recommended introductory books for Python) he knows perfectly well how to present and transfer concepts and knowledge."

You'll also learn essential building techniques like how to use beams, gears, and connector blocks effectively in your own designs. The EXPLOR3R, a wheeled vehicle that uses sensors to navigate around a room and follow lines The FORMULA EV3 RACE CAR, a streamlined remote-controlled race car ANTY, a six-legged walking creature that adapts its behavior to its surroundings SK3TCHBOT, a robot that lets you play games on the EV3 screen The SNATCH3R, a robotic arm that can autonomously find, grab, lift, and move the infrared beacon LAVA R3X, a humanoid robot that walks and talks. Each chapter contains several short challenges, dubbed "discoveries," which are cleverly accompanied by a legend: whimsical gear wheels represent the estimated amount of building time; tiny Microsoft Windows-esque blocks show the expected level of programming expertise; and a small clock estimates the length of time it should take to solve the challenge. The size, advanced vocabulary, and organization of the book evokes a science or physics textbook, which is warranted due to the amount of complex and detailed programming information contained within.

"As to the educational version vs the home version..... The educational packs has all of the motors and sensors of the home version with two exceptions: the remote control sensor and related beacon. There may be a few add'l pieces that we'll need in the future to build all of the projects in this book, but we are 1/4 the way thru and haven't found them. The author has also kindly responded to specific questions (relating to education vs home versions), and has been quite helpful."
"Outstanding book I love the paper edition but also bought the Kindle edition too!"
"My grandson has built just about every project in the book and he loves it."
"I bought the book (and the Mindstorms kit) for my grandsons, but first I wanted to build one of the robots in the book and to do some programming for it in case I needed to help my grandsons with the versions they build."
"The book includes 132 practice modules spread throughout the chapters which allow for an iterative process of learning. My two sons and I (ages 9 and 11) are separately going through the book and practice/design modules with each of us tracking our progress on a tracking sheet."
"The book gives you all the information you need to understand the LabView environment and each of the basic programming blocks."
"Fantastic and thorough book."

In the first book of this hilarious Minecraft adventure series, we get to read the diary of an actual 12 year old, Minecraft Zombie.

Find Best Price at Amazon"The ten year old read this book. His review is, "It was good but short." Here is the question and answer session that followed in order to elicit more information: What's it about? A zombie who has troubles at schools and goes on a couple of adventures. Is there any bad language or violence in it?"
"Obviously the premise of the story is based on the Wimpy Kid series, so you're basically getting a point-of-view story in diary form. There are little black and white pictures scattered throughout, so it breaks up the story and makes it more entertaining for the reader. I also have to add that we were given a free copy of the book from the author in exchange for a fair review, but I went ahead and purchased another copy for myself as well as book 4 in the series for my son - we loved it that much!"
"My 8-year old grandson loved Diary of a Minecraft Zombie Book 1."
"Our youngest fights us with reading."
"Great new condition!"
"He got it for Christmas and spent that afternoon reading it--and this is a kid who didn't really read on his own for fun!"
"Overall I think it is a great book- especially good for encouraging boys to find the love for reading."
"My 6 year old read this in one day, he thought it was so entertaining!"

You'll use the ICE Code Editor, which was created especially for this book to make it easy for you to get started with JavaScript programming. You'll learn how to build your own games from start to finish, including a monster eating fruit, a cave puzzle, and rafting on a river. You'll animate simple shapes to create a model of the solar system, and make your own website so that you can show off your games with your friends. To understand some of the theory better or if you need some help with functions, turn to the chapters that explain the programming concepts.
