Lifelike humanoid robots and self-operated drones tend to everyone's needs, leaving people free to spend their time stimulating their minds and enjoying life's pleasures. The rules force everyone to accept their fates, but Seven decides to do something unprecedented: to go against the Decision Makers' wishes. "Every time I thought I had figured something out, the story took yet another twist and I was left re-thinking everything I had come to believe! If you like romantic action-packed novels with adventure, mystery, and strong male and female leads, don't miss this gripping fast-paced read! THE SKY is a collection of all four books in a young adult science fiction series that tells the story of a teen girl and boy coming of age in a post-apocalyptic futuristic society founded on secrets and lies. THE SKY has captured the hearts of both teens and adults who enjoyed THE HUNGER GAMES (by Suzanne Collins), DIVERGENT (by Veronica Roth), THE GENDER GAME (by Bella Forrest), SLAVE (by Laura Frances), CONFIGURED (by Jenetta Penner), THE MAZE RUNNER (by James Dashner), and THE GIVER (by Lois Lowry). "It's been years since I read a story that kept me begging for more . "Every time I thought I had figured something out, the story took yet another twist and I was left re-thinking everything I had come to believe! "It is rare and special when you come across an author who writes like Lynne. An excerpt from THE SKY: Ten throws his arm around me and shoves me against the wall. A huge, black, shiny, box-like terrestrial drone is coming out of--not a doorway, but--the middle of a wall, through an opening that shouldn't be there. I take small, shallow breaths, even though my lungs are begging for more air. I feel the heat of Ten's controlled breaths against my face. As we stand there, it feels as if an electric charge is growing between us, so powerful that it would shock us if we moved even a millimeter closer together.
Reviews
"Each book became more intense, more creative and the further I delved in, so many secrets were coming out. Jenny Lynne did such a fantastic job at describing what was going on, the descriptive surroundings and the people came alive for me. The characters were an array of individuals with different feelings, thought process and the way they handled their life as it basically was not as it seemed."
"Usually trilogies start strong and I am disappointed in the final book, the author has no idea how to end the series, its predictable, or I simply become bored."
"Ryan was an awesome character, the ladies were each so strong, love how murphys twin changed over time and the way the mom of the twins was once the two came of age."
"I'm a huge fan of dystopian type stories, so that aspect of this book was super great, and even though dystopian is a popular story to write at this time, I still felt that this book was unique enough that I didn't feel like I have read it before. I'm not super crazy about what happens towards the end, and I'm not thrilled that I have to wait to find out what happens until the next book, but I highly recommend this book. My review for the second book: Return to the Sky: Return to the Sky is the sequel for Above the Sky, and I loved both books! This book picks right up where the first book ended, so I definitely recommend reading the first book before this one. *There will be spoilers for the first book in this review*. In the first book, Seven took Six's place as a warrior, so Seven had to leave home and fight to protect her home community and Six stayed at home and was assigned a mate, and since they are twins, they assumed each other's identities without most people knowing the difference. I'm hoping in the next book, the characters start to question the governments actions more, happiness for the side characters, and more of Ten and Seven together!"
"The characters were so well written, I felt like I was part of the book."
"I’d give this series 10 stars if I could."
"I read A LOT, and I've learned how to pick books that I will almost certainly enjoy, but I was completely blown away by how much I loved this trilogy."
"I reviewed each book seperatly if you want my opinion perbook but overall it's a great read and worth checking out."

Kennedy's Last Days: The Assassination That Defined a Generation
Adapted from Bill O'Reilly's best-selling historical thriller Killing Kennedy , with an unforgettable cast of characters, page-turning action, and art on every spread, Kennedy's Last Days is history that reads like a thriller. Combined with the relative short length of the book, Herrmann's narration makes this an excellent choice for introducing young learners to Kennedy's assassination.–Jessica Miller, West Springfield Public Library, MAα(c) Copyright 2013.

Oh, the Places You'll Go! (Classic Seuss)
In a starred review, Booklist notes, “Seuss’s message is simple but never sappy: life may be a ‘Great Balancing Act,’ but through it all ‘There’s fun to be done.’” A perennial favorite and a perfect gift for anyone starting a new phase in their life! The incomparable Dr. Seuss rejoices in the potential everyone has to fulfill their wildest dreams: "You'll be on your way up! While doting relatives will find this extended greeting card an ideal gift for nursery school graduates, the story will have less appeal for children than Seuss' story books and easy readers. Seuss' characteristic drawings carry and extend the text through mazelike streets, over colorful checkerboard landscapes, into muddy blue "slumps," through heady highs when fame results from success at the game of life, and through dark, lonely confrontations with graveyard-like fears in times of solitude. While the text gives a strong message of self-determination and potential, the small, male "you" pictured seems more of a passive passenger on his journey through life, reacting to things as they come and walking along with his eyes shut on both the first and last pages of the text.

I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up for Education and Changed the World (Young Readers Edition)
Raised in a once-peaceful area of Pakistan transformed by terrorism, Malala was taught to stand up for what she believes. In this Young Readers Edition of her bestselling memoir, which has been reimagined specifically for a younger audience and includes exclusive photos and material, we hear firsthand the remarkable story of a girl who knew from a young age that she wanted to change the world -- and did. Her strong voice and ideals come across on every page, emphasizing how her surroundings and supportive family helped her become the relevant figure she is today. "Although her efforts to attend school, and the subsequent attack she endured, make for a powerful story, Yousafzai writes just as vividly about her daily life as a child in Pakistan.... Yousafzai's fresh, straightforward voice creates an easily read narrative that will introduce a slew of younger readers to both her story and her mission. [Yousafzai's] strong voice and ideals come across on every page, emphasizing how her surroundings and supportive family helped her become the relevant figure she is today....― SLJ.
Reviews
"My 11-year old son read this and was so touched and inspired by Malala's story."
"Her voice is very clear, and my students felt like they "got to know her" well."
"I found "I AM Malala" to be very well written and full of detailed information about her previous life, her school, friends and family times before she was shot by the Taliban."
"***********NO SPOILER REVIEW**********. What a sad, hopeful, beautiful story this is."
""I Am Malala" tells the story of a young woman who yearned for knowledge and education in Pakistan, a country where the Taliban persecutes the education of women, and who almost paid for these things with her life. Although the story of Malala's life and the history of the country are definitely worth reading, the flow of this book is hard to follow at times. Moreover, even though this is Malala's memoir, it seems that the book tells more about Pakistan and her extended family, which can leave the reader questioning if this book should truly be called a memoir for about half of the book."

"One of the reviews said it has misinformation because it classifies humans as "carnivores", but some recent studie shave classified humans as such "based on the percentage of meat in the typical human diet". See: http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2012/04/20/150817741/for-most-of-human-history-being-an-omnivore-was-no-dilemma. The Giving Tree
And don't miss Runny Babbit Returns , the new book from Shel Silverstein! In Shel Silverstein's popular tale of few words and simple line drawings, a tree starts out as a leafy playground, shade provider, and apple bearer for a rambunctious little boy. At this point in the story, the double-page spread shows a pathetic solitary stump, poignantly cut down to the heart the boy once carved into the tree as a child that said "M.E. When there's nothing left of her, the boy returns again as an old man, needing a quiet place to sit and rest. (All ages) --Karin Snelson “If you’re looking for a children’s book that teaches generosity or unselfishness, most people will point you right to The Giving Tree , Shel Silverstein’s lovely story of a tree that will do anything for the boy it loves—and for good reason.
Reviews
"All that I can honestly say about this book, what some people say is "controversial" is it ; touches on feelings. teaches about selfishness. teaches about selflessness. teaches about caring. teaches about giving. this book really tugs at all the emotions everyone goes through one time or another. It has turned into a discussion book for all my grandkids. The book is a hardback & comes with a cover resembling the cover of the book."
