Reviews
"Createspace is also owned by Amazon and produces paperback books by “print on demand” technology. He gives advice running the gamut from picking a chair in which to write all the way to preparation of your cover and manuscript and uploading it. He goes over the usual material on optimizing your key words, title, covers, and book description. For instance, he covers how to format and upload your book to Createspace (and Kindle too) in immense detail, and this is right after telling you how you might come up with a topic and set yourself up to write. And, he lists some neat tools for writing which most do not mention such as a program called “Evernote.”. So far I have not seen a book on self-publishing through Amazon which is as complete and useful as a permanent reference as well as an introduction to the entire process from wish to royalty."
"If you want to be an author and get your book out there in the world, I highly suggest you BUY THIS BOOK! Createspace and Kindle Self-Publishing Masterclass is a book I will keep in my library and everytime I write a book, I will go through it again and follow it completely."
"I have purchased and read four of the books in Rick's Self-Publishing Masterclass series, and reread them each time I'm preparing to publish and launch another book."
"Though I've been lucky enough to have had some success with a small publishing house, this book really explained the world of online book marketing in such a manner that I feel self-publishing may well be worth doing."
"Rick Smith's book educated and guided me through the self-publishing route to the point where I was comfortable with my decision to go with Createspace and Kindle."
"If you want the blueprint for success in publishing your book as an ebook on KDP or paperback on CreateSpace, then you need to read the advice presented in CreateSpace & Kindle Self-Publishing Masterclass."

Paperbacks from Hell: The Twisted History of '70s and '80s Horror Fiction
Named to Amazon’s Best of the Year 2017 in Humor & Entertainment List An affectionate, nostalgic, and unflinchingly funny celebration of the horror fiction boom of the 1970s and ’80s. Take a tour through the horror paperback novels of two iconic decades . “[ Paperbacks from Hell] will delight anyone with an interest in horror, design illustration, or the macabre.” —Print Magazine “A nostalgic treat.”— Playboy Online “Just thumbing through these pages will bring back your youth – and terrify you all over again.”— Newsday. “You may find yourself trying to stock up on old titles so you can get your fill of gloriously trashy scares.” —Bustle “Perhaps the best thing about Paperbacks from Hell is the voice of its author... which is always entertaining and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny.”. — Creative Loafing. “You’ll immediately be swept up in a wave of nostalgia for the time and associations it evokes.” —Locus Magazine “The book's only flaw is that it doesn't come with a notepad to write down all the titles you'll be perusing your local shops hoping to find.”. — Birth. This will soon become your all-time favorite book, too.”—Duane Swierczynski, author of Hammett Prize nominee Revolver “A ferociously entertaining spook-ride through yesterday's horror fiction and their glossy, often perverse covers. Horrifying.”— Minnesota Public Radio “It’s clever, heartfelt, and get-under-your-skin unnerving without succumbing to any of the more predictable exorcism story tropes — things happen in this book that you will not expect. It will leave you sleepless because you won’t want to put it down, and you’ll be too scared to.”— Fangoria “A touching story of high school friendship and, well, demonic possession.”— Bloody Disgusting “Sharply written...Hendrix has made strong progress as a novelist, and this book makes a convincing case for his powers as a sharp observer of human behavior, filtered through a fun genre conceit that doesn’t skimp on the spooky—or the bodily fluids.”—The A.V. Club. “Readers who thought Heathers wasn’t quite bleak enough will find this darkly humorous horror tale—filled with spot-on 80s pop-culture references—totally awesome.”— Booklist , starred review. “From the author of the acclaimed Horrorstor , this book packs all the magic of a summer horror flick.”— Bustle “[Hendrix proves his] own black-magic mettle by conjuring up an era where ill-informed paranoia (and just plain ding-dongness) turned some of the quietest corners of America into fear factories, full of deep-rooted distrust and misspent rage. He woulda loved it.”—Wired.com. “If The Exorcist had been authored by Tina Fey instead of William Peter Blatty, it might have borne an uncanny resemblance to what Grady Hendrix has accomplished with My Best Friend’s Exorcism ...Fans of satire, nostalgia, dark comedy and, well, demons should read this book.”— BookPage “ Horrorstör delivers a crisp terror-tale...[and] Hendrix strikes a nice balance between comedy and horror.”— Washington Post “...disarming...” —Wall Street Journal “ ... wildly fun and outrageously inventive...” —Shelf Awareness for Readers , starred review. "I am a huge horror buff whether it be fiction book or in movie form, it does not matter to me.....if I need to watch it I'll watch it, if I need to read it I'll read it. In fact some of these books have actually been turned into video games and movies like "The Guardians" was turned into a video game, "Jaws" was turned into a movie so was "The Amityville Horror", "The Omen" and so many more including some gothic horror and my personal favorite book (and movie) of all time "Flowers in the Attic" by VC Andrews. I don't want to give it all away or spoil it so I'm not going to tell you about any of the others listed because I want you to read this book."
"I scared myself silly during the early 80s with these books from my mom's bookshelf."
"Simply amazing research and takes me back to my teens reading all of my mother's dog-eared paperbacks."
"What a steal--the photos alone make this book worth well beyond its price."
"A fun book about those outrageous covers used to sell paperbacks."
"Not finished with it yet but what I've read has brought back so many memories."
"A wry, whirlwind tour through the zany and strange world of 70s-80s horror paperbacks."
"Awesome book for horror readers."

"This book is exactly what I was looking for: easy to follow, well researched and to the point - no fluff, no sugar coating, just the facts (plenty of actual, usable facts). I have read a couple of the author’s other books in the Successful Blog Series and have found them to be, just like this one, the perfect blend of solid information and ease for a beginner like me."
"As a writer, I now have the incentive to start Kindle publishing, which is actually more profitable than blogging and boosts the results of blogging."
"I absolutely loved this book."
"She will give you a comprehensive information about the real steps needed to publish your book. She will tell you and shows you exactly those steps, those websites, those pages, those links, and those clicks .... that you would get from others only by paying hundreds or thousands of dollars on their training programs. Unless you prefer a personal guiding hand AND you have a hundreds or thousands of dollar extra to spend out of your pocket. So much so, that I decided to purchase her other books as well to learn in the deep how to manage step-by-step other related matters, such as SEO, Blog and social media marketing without the necessity of opening my bank account."
"If you've read knowledgable blog posts on Kindle publishing--Dave Chesson at Kindlepreneusr comes to mind--or watched any of the many free videos on this subject, you won't find much here. That might work for non-fiction, especially if--as she urges--you break your topic into small parts so you can create a series (as she's obviously done)."
"I really think someone contemplating Kindle publishing someday should read this book initially."
"Anyone who is scared to publish a book should read this."

Spruce: A Step-by-Step Guide to Upholstery and Design
Discover the joys of upholstery and bring new life to your worn-out furniture. *Starred Review* It stands to reason that a big, heavily illustrated book of instructions on how to upholster furniture should be as attractive as the finished projects it presents. Amanda Brown from Spruce has been our resident upholstery expert for a while and we were thrilled when she told us she was working on a book. That gorgeous book, Spruce: A Step-by-Step Guide to Upholstery and Design , officially launched yesterday and is chock-full of beautiful (and helpful) upholstery instructions, illustrated by more than 900 step-by-step photographs. Upholstery has always been daunting to me, but Amanda is an excellent teacher and everything she’s shared in this book will help you master the techniques and skills you need to reupholster any piece of furniture to suit your own taste and style.
Reviews
"Reasons I prefer this book above the rest: The author covers enough different styles of furniture so that you can tackle anything - and shows you how to determine which instructions would be best in her book for different pieces of furniture. The author combines more modern techniques (using foam and pneumatic stapler) with techniques that will help your piece of furniture stand the test of time. The only reason you wouldn't need to buy this book is if you lived in Austin, TX and could take a class from her personally."
"Very handy and provides good information."
"I am a "do-it-yourself" person and really appreciate the different projects in your book."
"That said, I have perused the book (kindle version) and been very impressed with the whole format: instructions, photography, and projects are well presented and detailed."
"This book is excellent."
"Excellent instructions for any furniture project."
"I've been taking an upholstery class with a really great 'old school' instructor teaching exacting and thorough processes."
"LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!"

The Sewing Machine Master Guide: From Basic to Expert
From basics to expert, it's two books in one, an efficient sewing machine guide and in-depth reference book that can stay with you for years to come. Both home machines and industrial machines are covered with sections dedicated to modern machines and vintage machines. From straight stitch machines to electronic machines over 100 of the most popular home and industrial machines are featured with insights on capabilities for each type of machine.
Reviews
"This book covers a lot, before this book we had to use 4 books to get the same information and the other books were expensive. If you want a more basic book the same author also has another book called the Sewing Machine Quick Guide that we have also been using for our basic sewing class. The beginning chapters of both books are similar but the Master Guide has advanced chapters and goes into greater detail, also Quick Guide does not cover industrial machines. The book covers both modern and vintage machines, the other books we found are outdated. The chapters on quilting machines and embroidery machines are a good introduction to these types of machines and give the fundamentals and cover some of the more popular models."
"The most popular sewing machine then was the 15-91 which she bought as soon as sewing machines could be manufactured after WWII."
"This book is very helpful in giving some ideas about what kind of sewing machine to buy."
"But now that's a matter of making space and time for it, verses matter of intimidation (which understanding just how the stuff works has eliminated)."
"I dont know anything about sewing machines and the subject is not well known and not written a lot."
"Gives great information on adjustments you can make yourself instead of taking in for repairs."
"I was considering buying a Singer 404...I read the review of this machine in the book, and bought the machine THE NEXT DAY."
"After not sewing for over 20 years, I've started again after purchasing a vintage Singer Machine model 66-k."
