Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies (Kindle Single) (Pottermore Presents)
These eBooks, with writing curated by Pottermore, will take you beyond the Harry Potter stories as J.K. Rowling reveals her inspiration, intricate details of characters’ lives and surprises from the wizarding world.
Reviews
"), it does provide some great backstory to the wizarding world! just ooze Rowling's writing style, creativity, attention to detail, and love of the wizarding world. I will say that some of this information has been available either on Pottermore (which I don't get to that often) or from other interviews, but it's nice to have it all together and on my kindle. My biggest hope for this is that they'll put these into print, either compiled together or with added information so I can add it to my HP collection!"
"Instead of changing anything in the Wizarding World that we all know and love, it added more of a back story to characters that you already thought you knew well."
"It helped to fill in the characters we didn't know much about during then Harry Potter books."
"This gets more into some of the books main characters."
"I bought this Kindle book to read to my 14 year-old daughter who is a big Harry Potter fan."
"This was a very interesting collection of short stories."
"At first I did not care to much for the side books Rowling would publish, as I don't think I fully understand what they offered to the series."
"It is amazing that JKR spent so much time developing each and every character in her wizzarding world."

All Systems Red (Kindle Single) (The Murderbot Diaries)
On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied ‘droid — a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as “Murderbot.” Scornful of humans, all it really wants is to be left alone long enough to figure out who it is. “Endearing, funny, action-packed, and murderous.” ―Kameron Hurley, author of The Stars are Legion “Not only a fun, fast-paced space-thriller, but also a sharp, sometimes moving character study that will resonate with introverts even if they're not lethal AI machines.” ―Malka Older, author of Infomocracy. "That rarity―a completely unique and stunning fantasy world." ―Hugo Award-winning author Elizabeth Bear on The Edge of Worlds. MARTHA WELLS has written many fantasy novels, including The Wizard Hunters , Wheel of the Infinite , the Books of the Raksura series (beginning with The Cloud Roads and ending with The Harbors of the Sun), and the Nebula-nominated The Death of the Necromancer , as well as YA fantasy novels, short stories, and non-fiction.
Reviews
"Our hero is SecUnit, an AI robot that has hacked its own governor module and found this universe's answer to Netflix. Bored with the mind-numbing security detail for a routine geological survey, it just wants to get back to base so it can watch the latest episode of its favorite serial show."
"Fast-paced; likeable characters; an introverted hybrid humanoid battle unit (who calls itself Murderbot) who just wants to binge watch videos; a well-meaning group of planetary surveyors who have mixed feelings about treating Murderbot as a sentient, emotional being; a suspenseful chase; villains whose motivations are all-too familiar; and a satisfying ending with promise of further adventures."
"This little story caught me completely off guard."
"With mostly plain language and purposely minimal worldbuilding, one of the best things about the story is that there is very little space wasted."
"How can you not love a POV novel where the narrator refers to itself as "Murderbot"?"
"I look forward to seeing more of this series, but unless the price point of the future installments changes, I won't be getting them right off - $10 for a ebook novella does not work for me."
"This new series from writer Martha Wells must live up to her very popular Raksura series by providing well-rounded characters, an interesting storyline, and believable but alien worlds."
"I'm not sure why this story speaks to me, but I find the character fascinating, and I'm happy to learn there will be more Murderbot adventures in the near future."

Reviews
"Quick Overview. This collection is an interesting read dedicated to the intrigue relating to Harry Potter’s world. Q - Target Audience/Genre and is it marketed as Nonfiction or Fiction: A – Fans of Harry Potter and fantasy. A – Young Adult and older, but it also is a terrific book parents can read aloud to their youngsters. The island in the North Sea upon which the first fortress was built never appeared on any map, Muggle or wizarding, and is believed to have been created, or enlarged, by magical means. Evidently extremely powerful, but of unknown nationality, Ekrizdis, who is believed to have been insane, was a practitioner of the worst kinds of Dark Arts. Alone in the middle of the ocean, he lured, tortured and killed Muggle sailors, apparently for pleasure, and only when he died, and the concealment charms he had cast faded away, did the Ministry of Magic realise that either island or building existed. Those who entered to investigate refused afterwards to talk of what they had found inside, but the least frightening part of it was that the place was infested with Dementors. The creatures were already strong and impossible to kill; many feared a horrible revenge if they took away a habitat where they appeared to thrive. Experts who had studied buildings built with and around Dark magic contended that Azkaban might wreak…’. Rowling, J.K.. Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists (Kindle Single) (Pottermore Presents) (Kindle Locations 251-262). Excerpt 2. J.K. Rowling’s thoughts. The name ‘Azkaban’ derives from a mixture of the prison ‘Alcatraz’, which is its closest Muggle equivalent, being set on an island, and ‘Abaddon’, which is a Hebrew word meaning ‘place of destruction’ or ‘depths of hell’."
""Very Short Stories" is a more relevant category to throw these *very* short stories."
"This is the second book in the Pottermore Presents trilogy that digs a little deeper into some of the characters and magical elements of Rowling's famous universe."
"These short stories go deep into the history and motivations of many of the characters, giving us much information we were not offered in the novels. Then, Rowling also adds her personal thoughts about her development of these characters."
"My husband told about all these new short stories on the pottermore website and you can read them for free."

The Magician King: A Novel (The Magicians Book 2)
As the pair struggle to find their way back to their lost kingdom, Quentin is forced to rely on Julia’s illicitly learned sorcery as they face a sinister threat in a world very far from the beloved fantasy novels of their youth. Grossman’s writing here is sharp and self-aware, and the characters feel like people you actually know, but cooler: they are delightfully profane and dripping with irony, they are arrogant and shallow, they are finding their way in a magically perfect world that somehow still lets them down, and they are learning to fight for the things they love. -- Juliet Disparte “[A] serious, heartfelt novel [that] turns the machinery of fantasy inside out.” — The New York Times (Editor’s Choice) “A spellbinding stereograph, a literary adventure novel that is also about privilege, power, and the limits of being human. “Grossman has devised an enchanted milieu brimming with possibility, and his sly authorial voice gives it a literary life that positions The Magician King well above the standard fantasy fare.” — San Francisco Chronicle. “Grossman is brilliant at creating brainy, distinct, flawed, complex characters, and nearly as good at running them through narrative gauntlets that inventively tweak the stories that generations have grown up on.” — The Portland Oregonian. “Lev Grossman’s The Magician King is a fresh take on the fantasy-quest novel—dark, austere, featuring characters with considerable psychological complexity, a collection of idiosyncratic talking animals (a sloth who knows the path to the underworld, a dragon in the Grand Canal), and splendid set pieces in Venice, Provence, Cornwall, and Brooklyn.” — The Daily Beast.
Reviews
"I guess the resonance is too deep; I identify too deeply with Quentin, defrocked and exiled, with only the revitalized Nowhere for comfort."
"Now two years later, and with faint echoes of CS Lewis' The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Quentin and Julia set off an adventure that begins as a simple tax collection to a distant island and proceeds to take him and Julia back to Earth where he meets up with old friends who need to help him find a way back to Fillory, to a version of an eternal waiting room, to the Neitherlands where another old friend is met and finally to lands not yet discovered. This is instead more of a bildungsroman, where both Quentin and Julia complete spiritual journeys and we are invited along for the ride."
"I watched the Netflix show after reading the books."
"This series is compelling, entertaining and it makes you care, deeply, about what happens to the characters."
"But definitely still a great read."
"Was EXCITED to read Lev Grossman's trilogy after watching the show "The Magicians"."
"However, being the second book in the series, it clarified some of the weaknesses of the first... Quentin and his friends, although they are gaining perspective as they gain experiences, are a bunch of pointless dilettantes. Despite this weakness, however, the book is well written and impossible to put down."
"In fact, her chapters in this book really didn’t hold my attention. It was interesting the way she came into her powers and she certainly stumbled across some interesting characters. And where she ends up at the end of this book was just fantastic. Speaking of characters, there were some new ones introduced in this book, ones who I definitely fell in love with the same way I fell for all of the characters in the first book."

The Butcher of Anderson Station: A Story of The Expanse
One day, Colonel Fred Johnson will be hailed as a hero to the system. One day, he will meet a desperate man in possession of a stolen spaceship and a deadly secret and extend a hand of friendship. But long before he became the leader of the Outer Planets Alliance, Fred Johnson had a very different name.
Reviews
"- "The Expanse" tag line. Five EXPANSIVE Stars. Based on the novels of the talented two-man SciFi writing team called "James S.A. Corey" and also based on the Syfy Channel 10-episode production of their novels, this novella is from that universe. Fans of "The Expanse" may enjoy this highly-detailed prequel-like short story which explains specifically and graphically what the TV show jumped over about the Anderson Station encounter in Season 1, Episode 5, at 32 minutes in."
"His character is defined by the events on Anderson Station from the minute the reader meets him, so nothing in this short story (calling it a novella is almost a stretch) is particularly intriguing."
"Smart and well-written, giving us what happened at the station and how Fred ended up in the OPA all rolled up into one story. And the authors succeeded in pulling off that moment with effective use of the memory slips."
"I'd read some of James Corey's Expanse novels a while back and totally not seen that "The Expanse" on the SyFy channel was based on his novels."
"I loved the writing and the pacing of this short work."
"This novella describes a how Fred Johnson transitioned from the butcher of Anderson Station to become the de-facto leader of the Outer Planets Alliance."
"Quick short story that answers two questions."
"Colonel Fred Johnson, and how he earned the moniker 'The Butcher of Anderson Station' is known and feared throughout the solar system; this novella gives us his backstory on the incident."

He developed, recruited and handled sources on weapons proliferation, counter-terrorism and political-military issues. A former university research fellow, he is now a strategy consultant. Reviews
"When circumstances require action, having a habitual method (i.e a structured approach) to quickly analyze the situation and select the best response gives you an edge over your opponent. The author shows how the US Air Force analyzed ace pilots to determine why they won more dogfights, and how that discovery was generalized into a powerful behavioral approach to rapid decision-making for spies in stressful situations. This book uses the author's thought process during an attempted robbery where he, the spy, is victim as an example of his structured thought process, one that major spy agencies and the military actually use. Near the end, he analyzes the thought process he went through in deciding to write the book in comparison to a reader's decision to purchase it."
"A short book about thinking - in my world the idea of recognizing what type of game your opponent is playing is vitally important."
"Interesting, simple model for taking the right actions in life and business."
"I had read about the OODA method of dealing with conflict, but the author's take on it with his DADA version was a welcome and interesting twist on it."
"Not too much detail but author gets his points across clearly and concisely...good read but would have been good to see more examples."
"Thank you to the druggie for his patience in letting the story play out."
"Many of us probably use this technique when faced with making decisions every day but usually have never given any thought to the actual process."

Brian's Winter (Brian's Saga Book 3)
But what if Brian hadn't been rescued? Then came a sequel, The River, and, last year, Father Water, Mother Woods, a collection of autobiographical essays introduced as the nonfiction counterpart to Hatchet. Authoritative narration makes it easy for readers to join Brian vicariously as he wields his hatchet to whittle arrows and arrowheads and a lance, hunts game, and devises clothes out of animal skins; while teasers at the ends of chapters keep the tension high ("He would hunt big tomorrow, he thought.... Then, his freeze-dried food runs out and his rifle fails, and he realizes how careless and complacent he has become. Suddenly aware of the changing seasons, he works frantically to winterize his shelter, fashion warmer clothes from animal skins, and construct a more powerful bow and arrow.

Published in 42 countries and 38 languages, in 2014 the Outlander novels were made into an acclaimed TV series starring Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe as Claire.
Reviews
"This novella, Virgins, is yet another mini installment in the "behind the story" story that she presents to us in an attempt to give us a glimpse into events that were spoken of but never really explored fully in her book series. Everyone that loves Outlander and her other books LOVES Jamie Fraser and can't get enough of these mini stories to keep us going between books. Ian and Jamie are young in this story, Jamie just having escaped from confinement in an English prison."
"I was a late-comer to the Outlander series having not read the first novel, 'Outlander,' until mid-2014. Once started however, I read the existing books in the series in rapid succession and then waited breathlessly for 'Written in My Own Heart's Blood.'. Read it."
"This rollicking version of the friendship of the two young men,Jamie andIan, cemented during the two years between Jamie's first run- in with BJR."
"Outlander is a series of novels that follow the lives of Claire, a WWII combat nurse who travels back in time to the 1740s, and her second husband, James Fraser, a Scottish laird. Like some of the other short stories Diana Gabaldon has written, it fills in one of the gaps in the main characters' lives, exploring a period that we knew little about. The story takes place shortly after Jamie escapes from Fort William, after being flogged (twice) by Black Jack Randall. After proving their worth as braw fighters, they're asked to escort a young Jewish bride and her priceless dowry to her husband-to-be in another part of the country, but as always, where James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser goes, trouble always follows."

"WALKING ON HER GRAVE by Melinda Leigh is the fourth and final book in the "Rogue River" novellas and was a satisfying conclusion to this ongoing series. Then there was the final chapter which has both couples - Zane & Stevie and Seth & Carly - coming together for a sad but happy finale, that left me with a smile on my face when it was over =). Book 2 - Dead in Her Tracks by Kendra Elliot (Rogue Winter Novella)."

Decisions: Life and Death on Wall Street (Kindle Single)
Janet Tavakoli's Wall Street memoir of decisions that reshaped financiers' lives, drove some to suicide, and changed the landscape of global finance. In her new memoir, Janet Tavakoli shines a bright light on the money-driven culture of Wall Street and Washington, and the life and death consequences of our decisions that put profit above all. "Tavakoli takes us on a scenic tour of the recent lowlights of Wall Street and Washington...demystified and rendered tragically human. She takes us on a br /isk journey from the depravity of 1980s Wall Street to the systemic recklessness that crushed the global economy.” Nomi Prins, author of All the Presidents' Bankers. “Intelligent analyst whose command of the arcane world...mixed with a br /utally honest analytical framework makes it a pleasure to read her work.” Asia Times Online. Praise for Decisions "Tavakoli takes us on a scenic tour of the recent lowlights of Wall Street and Washington...demystified and rendered tragically human. "Merrill Debauchery Only Begins This Woman's Tale... 'Neither Bill nor I believed Calvi committed suicide,' Tavakoli writes. She takes us on a brisk journey from the depravity of 1980s Wall Street to the systemic recklessness that crushed the global economy." "Intelligent analyst whose command of the arcane world...mixed with a brutally honest analytical framework makes it a pleasure to read her work." The pressures of Wall Street's low moral tone combined with personal and professional decisions reshaped people's lives, drove some to despair, and changed the landscape of global finance.
Reviews
"Like all of Ms. Tavakoli's writings, this little nugget pulls no punches and cuts straight to the chase."
"If you want to read a book on how the Fed, the government, and Wall Street are bedfellows in clear, concise, and understandable terms, then read this short book."
"This book is short and easy to understand. If you want to understand what really happened during the 2008/2009 collapse of the economy, and how they are setting us up for another collapse in the near future, then, you should read this book."
"In typical Tavakoli style, this book names names and pulls no punches in describing the cronyism and corruption that continue to plague our financial system."
"If you want to understand how the biggest theft in world history took place, I highly recommend this book."
"Janet, as usual, doesn't hold back in your rather scathing reviews of what really goes on on Wall Street."
"However, for someone who is not that familiar with the world and lingo of finance it is a bit hard to follow."
"a bit short and the last chapter was too much of rhetoric."

An Unexpected Twist (Kindle Single)
In his first-ever work of autobiography, the comedian and New York Times bestselling author tells how a freakish medical condition descended upon him one October afternoon and led him to the brink of death – in a New York hospital “consistently rated one of the ten best in the country.” What happens when “one of the funniest people in America” (CBS News Sunday Morning) comes face to face with his own mortality? Rife with deadpan observations and quirky characterizations of the medical staff that attended him, An Unexpected Twist offers humor on a number of levels, from breezy ruminations on life, death, and love to the simply scatological. In the end, it seems, his brush with death from the inside out proved an ambiguous blessing: the author suffered the accompanying discomfort, pain, and fear; readers reap the rewards of his levity aplenty.
Reviews
"I think what surprised me the most was the suspense I felt as I read this (kind of like each time I read "The Day Lincoln Was Shot" by Jim Bishop, and I hear myself muttering under my breath, "Don't go to Ford's tonight!"). Andy Borowitz is a brilliant writer and funny guy extraordinaire, but like our beloved Mark Twain, he is also acutely aware of human nature and the human condition."
"What I did not expect and found to be a wonderful gift within this short offering was Andy's joy and gratitude about his life."
"When he rates his pain as "six", "an enormous sense of relaxation descends upon my case as the ER staff attends to the people who said seven through ten". Andy is not overtly critical of the systemic mishandling of his case, but at the same time makes pointed reference to the fallacies in the system and our society that rates this hospital as one of the ten best."
"I think it was mentioned at some article I was reading one day, where the author of the article was modestly boasting about being the one who recommended Borowitz to pack this little story into a Kindle book and publish it."
"Th story of Andy Borowitz and his twisted colon is both hilarious and heartwarming at the same time."
"I went through a very similar experience and I never thought such a harrowing, near-death experience could be so funny!"
"I would have rated this book 10 stars if possible."
"If you've never read The New Yorker or The Borowitz Report, you may not know who our hero is!"

Miracle at Coney Island: How a Sideshow Doctor Saved Thousands of Babies and Transformed American Medicine (Kindle Single)
In Miracle at Coney Island: How a Sideshow Doctor Saved Thousands of Babies and Transformed American Medicine , Claire Prentice uncovers the incredible true story of Martin Couney, the “incubator doctor.”. Couney ran his incubator facility for premature babies at Coney Island from 1903 to 1943 and set up similar exhibits at World’s Fairs and amusement parks across America, and in London, Paris, Mexico and Brazil. Claire Prentice is an award-winning journalist and the author of The Lost Tribe of Coney Island: Headhunters, Luna Park, and the Man Who Pulled Off the Spectacle of the Century.
Reviews
"I can't tell you how many times I've read about these babies at Coney Island and elsewhere while reading other things, whether it was books or magazine articles, or encyclopedias. It was very interesting...I'm always amazed at the types of things that people got away with prior to even the 1960's. Considering I've read so much about eugenics and the Nazis (and written about all of this and the disabled in papers), you would think nothing would surprise me at this point. Even though there are much stricter laws on the books concerning doctors, we still have people out there who have no degrees who present themselves as having the background and training to treat people with things like cancers."
"Dr. Couney created this innovative business model which allowed for his meticulous expensive care of preemies while not charging the parents a dime. The author's research proved he didn't go to medical school or train with preemies in Europe before coming to the US. The issue is not whether he took advantage of these infants or was a medically trained doctor but rather he proved that preemies could be nursed into healthy babies and were worth saving - against the attitude and recommendations of the medical community of the late 19th and early 20th centuries."
"Fascinating and well researched story of the incubator baby doctor, who exhibited (and saved) thousands of babies from the early 1900s to early 1940s!"
"Interesting book with a good view on the history of the baby incubator and the man who invented it."
"I would say that Martin Couney was a doctor in every sense --"First do no harm"."
"I had heard references to Martin Couney's exhibitions of premature infants for years and always been curious about how this had all happened."
"Interesting look at the precursor of modern neonatal intensive care units."

We Should All Be Feminists (Kindle Single) (A Vintage Short)
She shines a light not only on blatant discrimination, but also the more insidious, institutional behaviors that marginalize women around the world, in order to help readers of all walks of life better understand the often masked realities of sexual politics. Adichie, celebrated author of the acclaimed Americanah (Knopf, 2013), offers a more inclusive definition of feminism, one that strives to highlight and embrace a wide range of people and experiences. Her focus on women of color is also an aspect of the movement that hasn't always been given its due, and Adichie works in her own experience and life as a feminist within a more conservative Nigerian culture in an organic and eye-opening way.
Reviews
"She has made people deaf to anything but stereotypes about feminism sit up and pay attention and realize, "Wow this is mostly common sense" and "I see that all the time and I never thought about how that affects" us/them."
"I assumed the book would expand a bit on the things she discussed in her talk, but the book felt word for word her lecture."
"I think this relates more to other cultures than the US, where we experience many of the same issues but it does not address many other factors we see in modern American culture."
"Excellent speech by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie."
"Really shows that though it is OUR world, some persons feel that it is a man's world; with males and females alike subscribing to that view."
"I felt like I was having a conversation with a friend; one that I wasn't ready to put to rest so soon."
"She dabbles into the negative repercussions that gender norms have on both men and women, but admits that she is focusing mainly on women's issues."
"Super basic, but this could be a good place to start for a young woman interested in embarking on gathering her feminist background."

"I Give You My Body . . .": How I Write Sex Scenes (Kindle Single)
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • For writers looking to make sure their next physical interlude on the page inspires readers to share the moment rather than to laugh at it, bestselling author Diana Gabaldon divulges the writing secrets behind the sex scenes in her wildly popular Outlander. novels. Published in 42 countries and 38 languages, in 2014 the Outlander novels were made into an acclaimed TV series starring Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe as Claire.
Reviews
"Gabaldon shows you how to draw a person into a scene, any scene, by using such writing techniques as varying the focus of the scene (close-up vs. panoramic), using a touchstone (something familiar to anchor the reader in a scene), and employing the Rule of Three (use three or more of the senses--taste, touch, sight, sound, smell--to give the reader a visceral sensation of being somewhere, again to anchor him or her in the scene)."
"I have been able to master every scene but the sex scene and Diana Gabaldon masterfully explains the development, the intent and the real method of creating interest of every kind of sex scene."
"I found the book interesting but since I'm not a writer it was more of a review of good parts of the Outlander Series and some new bits about another author who I will now read, Carlos Ruiz Zafon."
"Complete with examples from her work, she describes good sex, sex between characters of the same sex, and bad sex (rape or non-consensual sex)."
"After reading this short book, you'll never write another sex scene as you did before. Very usable in your own writing."
"Those who have heard Gabaldon speak will immediately recognize the tone of her voice and the pace of her speech as they read her words on the page (or the screen, perhaps)."
"It is liberally illustrated with examples from Gabaldon's Outlander series -- and those examples spurred me to start the series as soon as I finished this book."
"Now as I am writing romance novels these days I wanted some good books on various aspects of the craft."

Denial: My 25 Years Without a Soul (Kindle Single)
Jonathan Rauch first drafted this book, years ago, strictly for himself, to make a personal record of his “life without a soul.” After hesitating for years to publish it, he was inspired to do so partly by the redemptive power of his own marriage, to a man—the marriage he thought he could never have. The author of five books (including Gay Marriage: Why It Is Good for Gays, Good for Straights, and Good for America) and a National Magazine Award winner, Rauch has been writing for The Atlantic since 1989. A wrenching story that all of us, gay or not, can appreciate, Denial shows what it is like to be ‘different’ in a world that demands sameness.”. —Dale Carpenter, author of Flagrant Conduct: The Story of Lawrence v. Texas.
Reviews
"The convoluted ideas and reasons he held this belief might be extremely disheartening to read were it not for his wit and finesse in the telling. Sadly, that person had sexual issues that only added confirmation to the idea that homosexuality was, indeed, deviant. Fortunately for the reader, Jonathan the boy finally grew up to be a man who would have the ability to look back unflinching at his past and the talent to share it in what I can only describe as a sweet and endearing style. It is the story of a young man who suddenly realizes he is capable of giving and receiving love."
"That may seem trite or predictable to say, but I think writing about one's life is always vulnerable and risky, and he's sharing a highly personal journey in a very public way. That said, there are other aspects of my personality and history that I *did* have to work through, so Jonathan's message about understanding and owning who you are resonated."
"There were many things that he describes which reverberated with me, when I thought about my own growing up in a very relgious home where my homosexual feelings had to be carefully and deeply hidden even from myself.I have never read anywhere better the so accurate description of 'the little tidal wave which knocked me over and sent me spinning underwater', 'that tingling convulsion' and 'that jolted (feeling) with a thousand volts of current'. As a medical doctor, albeit retired now, I believe the message of this book is still desperately needed by the present generation of young people growing up with a feeling that they are different."
"But I suspect that almost everyone who reads it will look back on their own coming of age, and the painful ways we tried to edit our interior selves into something we thought would be more at home in the world."

John Braddock has been able to throw in a good spy story to show how to properly think in a stressful situation." He developed, recruited and handled sources on weapons proliferation, counter-terrorism and political-military issues.

Walking on Her Grave (Rogue River Novella, Book 4)
The electrifying conclusion of the romantic suspense novella series from Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. Melinda is a two-time Daphne du Maurier Award finalist.
Reviews
"WALKING ON HER GRAVE by Melinda Leigh is the fourth and final book in the "Rogue River" novellas and was a satisfying conclusion to this ongoing series. Then there was the final chapter which has both couples - Zane & Stevie and Seth & Carly - coming together for a sad but happy finale, that left me with a smile on my face when it was over =). Oh how I adored Seth! For those who don't know, the series of books that follow this set are: Book 1 - Tracks of Her Tears by Melinda Leigh (Rogue Winter Novella). Book 2 - Dead in Her Tracks by Kendra Elliot (Rogue Winter Novella)."
"Each and every book are must reads!........With a compelling murder discovered shocking the entire town of Solitude, county investigator Seth Hardin was stunned to learn that there was a power struggle between the manufacturers and distributors of a deadly new drug known as C-22, and killing certain people in the small town."
"Carly a social worker and her husband Seth a law enforcement officer have had marriage problems and they both really worked hard at sorting them out."
"4.5 stars out of 5. This was an interesting saga made even more so by being written by two different authors. But, on the other hand, they worked very well together to construct a most exciting crime drama that flowed well to the conclusion. All worried about their women being involved in potentially dangerous jobs – Stevie is a cop and Carly is a child advocate for the Social Services. *shakes head* No consideration that their women may feel the same –both guys are cops and they seem to get almost killed on a regular basis."

"But I digress…. The only thing better than reading my favorite author’s books, is learning about how she writes. If you’ve ever read an article (or a book) that gives writing advice, one point is constantly being stressed: Show, don’t tell. I’m guessing the majority of people who immediately purchased this book were likely Outlander fans, but you don’t have to be a fan of Outlander to read this book. Now I’m not-so-patiently waiting for Diana to make the wonderful announcement that book nine is finished… but I’ve been a fan long enough to know there will likely be at least two more years of waiting."
"Complete with examples from her work, she describes good sex, sex between characters of the same sex, and bad sex (rape or non-consensual sex)."
