Facing thirty years, Davis slipped into Mexico, not knowing a word of Spanish, which began a thirteen-year odyssey that led him to an underground hideout for a Medellin cartel, through the jungles of the Darien Gap, the middle of Mumbai's madness, and much more. With Gringo, we see that Conti writes equally as well about such diverse locals as a post-Escobar Medellin, the jungles of the Darien Gap, and the swarm of humanity in Mumbai. He introduces us to a wide range of characters including a Bandito named Fonzie, a hit woman who moonlights as a tutor, a chemistry nerd, and the heads of some of the most powerful cartels in Latin America. But the most impressive is Conti's portrayal of Dan Davis, the South Dakotan pot trafficker who we follow through these dangerous terrains as he tries to stay one step ahead of the feds and federales." -Christopher Grant, "Teenie" and "False Start" "Peter Conti has written a compelling page-turner about a man on the run and out of time that takes the reader inside the dark demimonde of drug trafficking.

"Gringo is a must read book as it portrays a fugitives life on the run that is so intense you don't want to put it down and at the same time you see things unfolding in real time through the eyes of Tito as if you are there How he weaves through customs, the police check points and just pure dumb luck to keep from getting caught is truly amazing."
"It is a very exciting book to read."
"Joe Pesci - It's so refreshing to finally read an author who can really write about the streets the right way. It really captured the underbelly of L.A, David Koenig - Blow and Goodfellas are American classics. Tito was a bit older than me in school, but I knew of him... and for decades I heard rumors of his life. This is not like your typical criminal story, where they make millions and party with their expensive cars, homes and girls."
"I bought a book called Gringo-My Life on the Edge as an International Fugitive and my life began to have some more of a special meaning for me to think about."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Interesting read, details sure show how Michael got screwed."
"In this extremely well research book on the case of a clearly innocent man convicted and imprisoned, the author proves without a doubt, that none of us are safe from viscous police and prosecutorial persecution."
"After all, I watched in amazement as the previously 'most hated man in America' was able to rehabilitate his reputation off the back of 'solving' the Martha Moxley murder. Mr. Kennedy rolls up his sleeves and demonstrates point b point, person b person, how a man who'd managed to go 23 years without attracting suspicion suddenly because the prime suspect and, finally, the scapegoat for a murder that too many men had come to hang their hats on. The amount of work Mr. Kennedy put into creating this book is bewildering and is to be commended, particularly when it's considered that a man's liberty is stake. I feel confident in stating that the evidence and rationale presented in this work will (or should) prevent any prosecutor from attempting to put Mr. Skakel back in jail. The persecution of Michael Skakel makes it all but impossible that the true murderer will ever be brought to justice, but should it turn out that Mr. Kennedy was correct in his solution of the case, I would not at all be surprised."
"Shame on his inept lawyer Mr. Sherman."
"Kennedy takes you through the entire jaded legal process."
"Utterly amazing the gossip monger Dominique Dunne and his very close friend, disgraced cop Mark Furhman, had such impact upon an innocent man."
"I totally believe in Michael Skakels innocence and it is a true shame that Martha did not find justice."
"), but everyone else in the book is... craven, disgraceful, corrupt, unscrupulous, selfish, star-struck, sinister, a lowlife or a scoundrel. Literally, every character he introduces has some angle against Michael, or against the Kennedy family, or is only interested in making money off a high-profile murder case, etc, etc ad nauseum. Every single male who was anywhere near the Moxley's house that fateful night is a potential suspect and he has thrown out some made-up sinister profiles for every single guy he introduces including Martha's own brother (he even takes a soft jab at Mrs. Moxley). I've actually seen Kennedy on talk shows taunting the two guys he's framing to sue him for slander. Bryant's story sounded credible to me at first because if you don't do any research at all and just take Kennedy's word at face value, it seems like he has made a great case. But if you do even a little bit of Googling, you find that he dismisses a judge's ruling on that testimony as "weird". Below is a quote from the Greenwich Time from July 23, 2016: "Superior Court Judge Edward R. Karazin Jr. discounted the contention that Hasbrouck and Tinsley were involved and rejected the appeal for a new trial."

Juan Martinez, the fiery prosecutor who convicted notorious murderess Jodi Arias for the disturbing killing of Travis Alexander, speaks for the first time about the shocking investigation and sensational trial that captivated the nation. Throughout the trials, his bullish and unfaltering prosecution strategy was both commended and criticized, and in his book, Martinez will illuminate the unique tactics he utilized in this case and how they lead to a successful conviction, and-for the first time-discuss how he felt losing the death penalty sentence he’d pursued for years.

This information proves without a doubt that Arias’ defense team MOST CERTAINLY DID attempt to argue that Travis was a pedophile—something that both Nurmi and Willmott pathetically and disingenuously tried to deny once the trial was over."

DNA exonerations have shattered confidence in the criminal justice system by exposing how often we have convicted the innocent and let the guilty walk free. (John Grisham). DNA testing is revolutionizing our system of criminal justice: this book shows why. Garrett makes a powerful case for how to improve criminal justice so that we dramatically reduce the number of wrongly convicted. This is an invaluable book, a comprehensive, highly readable but well-researched work examining the hows and whys of the law's ultimate nightmare--convicting the innocent. Garrett's book is a gripping contribution to the literature of injustice, along with a galvanizing call for reform...It's the stories in his book that stick in the memory. Looking at the 250 people exonerated through DNA as of February 2010, Garrett aimed to determine how often...malignant factors had warped the criminal justice process at the expense of an innocent person (and to the benefit of an actual criminal who went unpursued). This book details some of the worst miscarriages of justice in U.S. history and describes how DNA evidence helped to right those wrongs...The book, what must be the most thorough treatment yet of wrongful convictions, is a first-rate examination of the human foibles and conflicts of interest hampering the pursuit of justice. A uniquely valuable part of Garrett's book is a statistical appendix that provides a quantitative overview of the false convictions, their consequences, and the factors that contributed to them....It is hard to imagine seven pages more damaging to the claims of our system of criminal justice.

Prior to reading Garrett's book I only really thought about innocent being convicted on the criminal shows I watched. Gary Dotson was prosecuted on a rape case using unreliable forensic methods.Because of the forensic analysts false testimony of inconclusive scientific evidence, Dotson was convicted of rape. I realized how important it is to ensure the evidence we uncover is both reliable and valid as it is for forensic analysts investigating evidence at crime scenes. I am committed to base my observations on valid and reliable evidence so I can eliminate wrongful convictions."
"The book, Convicting the Innocent, written by a Brandon Garrett, a professor at the University of Virginia law school, explores these errors within the criminal justice system by observing numerous examples."
"To find out how often people are wrongfully accused and imprisoned based upon the blatant use of bias over what the evidence itself is showing , or the negligent actions of professionals in the criminal justice arena is disheartening. In his book, Garret uses real life cases in a way that makes the reader feel just how terrible the situations for the wrongfully accused were. Utilizing trial transcripts, retested forensic evidence findings, and accounts from those who were convicted, he paints a pretty clear picture of how details were twisted and juries were manipulated into turning the defendants in the cases into pariahs for all violent crimes. I do however hope to one day join the professional ranks, whether it be in criminal justice, fraud and forensics, or maybe even in security."

Law is supposed to be a framework for humans to make choices, not the replacement for free choice.” So notes Philip K. Find Best Price at Amazon"The bloated bureaucracy; the rules; the laws; the regulations; are so integral to our lives that we no longer would recognize a life without these burdensome evils. What is meant for good, and to bring about harmony, only results in stagnation, closed businesses, higher prices, less choice, rise of litigation, etc. Mandated perfection only ends in the opposite, along with an incredible waste of money and manpower, not to mention it treats individuals as criminals. Although Wilson's "Great Society" and Roosevelt's "New Deal" (whom he quotes) spawned this form of bureaucracy it still took many more presidents to bring us to this point."
"Perhaps some weak attempt is made at providing a direction or conversely the author spins off into the depth of the universe never to return to reason. Rather than providing some drab history on our national problems, Mr. Howard give us an informative, and dare I say entertaining, cause and effect model to help up understand just how we ended up with a government that hardy functions."
"I read this book because I was tired of getting short circuited by laws rules and other prohibited actions, basically ending up getting frustrated."
"Read this almost 20 years ago and found it to be very informative."
