"The text does a good job of explaining most of the concepts clearly, but some of the proofs are very bare, and sometimes I'm left wondering WHY something works."
"Good book."
"I liked the study guide, but the "see the text" responses and failing to answer T/F questions was absolutely annoying (although I saw Lay's purpose b/c I did learn more by looking it up, it was just time-consuming)."

That is, from the very beginning you are working with actual code as you learn the proper formats. Questions, problems, and meaningful exercises are the main methods for teaching and learning used in this book. The book provide the proper formats for MATLAB coding. Those with experience would find it useful for reviewing in general and/or refreshing one's memory of topics and techniques that may have become cloudy. Advanced Mathematics. Each Chapter ends with...Common Pitfalls and Programming Style Guidelines.... One can choose topics based on experience and/or background."
"I had a third edition of this book and this book really taught me how to program in MATLAB."
"My niece is too busy trying to learn the stuff in this book to post a review so I'll post a favorite uncle's review..."
"Very informative book but needs more example code!!"
"The first 30 pages of this book taught me more about MATLAB than the first half of a semester of my college class."
"Great exercises and overview."
"The book was chosen by my professor. My own comment is that the book doesn't have enough English language to describe the functions and connect the. functions in a "script"."

"I need books that go at a nice relaxed pace, and which give me plenty of opportunities to work interesting problems. Pinter excels at breaking down complicated concepts into very small, practically painless steps. The index is pretty crummy, and the many sections of exercises are not labeled in a way that lets you see what subjects are being developed."
"Pinter's book covers a lot of ground, but it is aimed squarely at students (including autodidacts) who have the beginnings of what is nebulously referred to as 'mathematical maturity'."
"This is first time in my life I can read a math book as fast as reading a fiction. I feel I will come back to those books I gave up a long time ago."
"A rigorous presentation that reads more like an interesting essay that a math text, yet it is a thorough summary of the subject."
"I am able to navigate these pretty easily and have not discovered many true mistakes (on the part of the author that is). A real novice could easily get confused and may not be able to mentally correct some typos on the fly. Also navigation through the book is different than the typical and not as efficient but once I learned what was needed it is tolerable."
"That being said, the book is very clear, I understand all the steps, exercises are great, not-too-hard-not-too-boring, the author really writes well and it makes you feel like you have a tutor with you helping you move forward."
