In 2014 the National Board began revising and streamlining the National Board Certification Process. (Kelly Mueller, NBCT, Early Childhood/Generalist / Renewed). Pursuing National Board Certification immediately overwhelmed me and I needed a plan for each of my entries. Bobbie Faulkner's strategies provided me the road map and handy tips everyone needs for this journey. Her advice and approach to navigating the National Board journey were invaluable to me last year as a new candidate, and she provides strategies that I know I would never think of on my own. The 'What Works' Series for National Board Candidates was my essential guide throughout the year I drafted and re-drafted my entries. Bobbie’s book belongs next to every candidate’s copy of the Architecture for Accomplished Teaching (AAT), Standards, and Instructions.

This test felt very easy (I think I got like 86% correct) so I was feeling pretty confident. There were questions coming out of left field that were never mentioned in the class or this book. As you can imagine I wasn't feeling particularly confident at that time, but the next day I checked the website to see that coveted "Congratulations" message. My advice for the test- Make sure you know the patient assessment procedure like the back of your hand, know your ABC's (or CAB if the patient is unresponsive), know the normal vital signs, know the 6 or so medications detailed in the book, and know the most important medical conditions (shock, stroke, burns, anaphylaxis, etc) and you will be good to go."
"We bought this study guide for our son, who had taken an EMT course, but not yet taken the exam."
"It is straightforward, presents relevant information, and gives resources to further study."
"I was challenging the exam to recertify my license, so haven't taken the classes in awhile."
"Has all the important bullets of all relevant chapters for the test."
"I recommend brushing up on pharmacology actual terms (sildenafil instead of viagra) because the test will not use its brand name, but other than that this was a pretty comprehensive study guide."
"I bought this so I could do the online tests while reviewing the material to see how I was doing."
"If you have gone through a refresher or two , this is the perfect study guide for you."
