They are the kind of verbal jewels that make any author gasp and say "I wish I wrote that." The odds are slim that anyone will encounter this five-star review in the vast ocean of existing appreciation for this delightful book and its author. If, perchance, a live person actually reads this review, please let me know with a "helpful" vote."
"With the the portability and ease of reading electronically I am reliving the stories of Clare and Jamie and Brianna and Roger et al again. Diana delivers the emotion, sights, sounds, smells, triumphs and failures with her words. She always finds alliterative and clever phrasing to bring everything alive - whether it is a trip across the sea or a dangerous encounter or mundane every tasks or Clare and Jamie enjoying the delights of each other intimately."
"At first I was nervous, I wouldn't be able to keep my attention to the book because of the almost 900 pages but believe me when I say it was an easy and fast read. Sometimes it would get on my husband's nerves that my nose was always in this book..hehe.. And I dreamt about the Scotland Highlands and of course Jamie Fraser."
"I’ve this huge smile on my face anytime I think of Diana Gabaldon's The Outlander. It made all the Scottish expressions that I had to look up and various words I’d had to highlight for its definition all SO WORTH IT! I love how strong he is and how brave he was through all of the crosses he’d already bore and even braver knowing what is to come ahead. As strong and roguish as he was, there was such a vulnerability to him and c’mon ladies, you know this just drives us wild. A man that could take out a number of other men on his own but still manage to hold on to his sensitive side. I know that both Jamie and Claire have hard times ahead of them and I’m OK with that, even excited about what adventures lay ahead of them with the condition that they continue to slay bad guys together and remain the Jamie and Claire that I’ve just so madly fallen in love with."

Her first trip swept her into the arms of Jamie Fraser, an eighteenth-century Scot whose love for her became legend—a tale of tragic passion that ended with her return to the present to bear his child. But as Brianna plunges into an uncharted wilderness, a heartbreaking encounter may strand her forever in the past...or root her in the place she should be, where her heart and soul belong.... Claire Randall, the post-WWII bride of historian Frank Randall, steps through a skew in the Scottish stone circle Craigh na Dun and lands in Revolutionary America and the arms of Highlander Jamie Fraser?putting a new spin on the notion of a two-timing woman. She takes off on a harrowing, confrontational quest through time and space with her suitor, Roger Wakefield, in hot pursuit. Gabaldon's range is impressive, whether she's evoking the rawness of colonial America, the cozy clutter of a modern Scottish parsonage, the lusts of the body or the yearnings of the spirit.

We know from the blurb that Claire goes back in time to find Jamie now that she knows he’s alive – but twenty years have passed. There is a ton of angst, kidnapping, arson, prison, murder, glorious sex, shipwrecks, and even the return of a character that I never thought I’d see again. At one point I skipped through my kitchen and squealed while my husband gave me side eye and shook his head. At another point I had silent tears streaming down my face as a piece of my heart broke off. There’s a lot packed into these pages that will keep you up at night and have you thinking about it during the day.I dreamed about this book, twining it into my sleep as well as my days. The attention to detail is outstanding and Diana knows just how far she can push you before you need a reprieve, and then she reels you back in with Jamie & Claire."
"I never thought I'd be the kind of person who would get swept up in a series of thousand-page epic fantasy adventure book, but here I am having finished book #4, mad that I have to wait a couple of days until the next installment arrives in the mail. I spoiled myself a little for Drums of Autumn, not so much on its contents, but I became aware that many fans consider this to be one of their least favorites, and one of the slowest of the books. Jamie just doesn't make sense to me as a character outside of a rugged setting with a battle to fight."
"I do enjoy it when Ms. Gabaldon starts describing the countryside or city as she's done a lot of research, but I'm not sure how much more I can take of Jamie's "Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"."
"Put in context with the wonderful Scottish and British characters, these stereotypes disrupt the flow of the story and undermine the author's otherwise fun and engaging storytelling skills."

When a modern day archaeologist lands in medieval Scotland, she leaves behind the one thing that might truly help—her memory. "If I was asked to describe the book in one word, it would be "enthralling"! ". - jeanne, Kindle Reviewer. "Tormod is well worth reading, but you may want to wear mittens to protect your nails from being bitten to the quick, because this book is the embodiment of the term "nail biter"! ". As ever this story is extremely well written, the world created is three-dimensional, complex and ever evolving, same goes for the character construction."

Find Best Price at Amazon"The author does a fabulous job of giving the reader sufficient backstory, but I recommend reading the books in order of their release. I'm fascinated by stories featuring mythology, folklore, and fantasy, adore Time Travel Romance, infatuated with Medieval Historical Fiction, addicted to steamy romance, obsessed with strong, sassy heroines, completely smitten with sexy Scottish Highlanders from any century, and when I can find it all in one great read, I'm in heaven! Hunter picks up the pace, kicks up the heat, and doubles the stakes in Tormod, the fourth riveting release in her mega-popular, can't-put-down Immortal Highlander Series! Tormod is a captivating, imaginative, unique, fast-paced, exceptionally well-crafted and edited, full-length standalone historical medieval time travel romance with paranormal, supernatural, and fantasy elements and filled to the brim with compelling drama, pulse-pounding danger, edge-of-your-seat action, daring adventure, nail-biting suspense, heart-wrenching angst, steamy passion, and heartwarming romance. In some instances, multiple points of view can be somewhat confusing to a reader if not skillfully written, but Hunter does an excellent job, and all the perspectives are clearly discernible. Hunter gives us a large cast of intriguing, engaging, and well-developed characters who literally explode from the pages, grab your imagination, demand your undivided attention, and completely capture your heart. I fell head over heels for the two protagonists, present-day archaeologist Jema McShane and Tormod Liefson, fourteenth-century former Norse Viking but now immortally cursed member of Isle of Skye Clan McDonnel. And I've always had a real soft spot for underdogs, so the reserved loner Viking Tormod Liefson captured my heart when he was introduced as the mapmaker for Clan McDonnel in the first book of the series. I found myself more than a wee bit curious as to how a Norseman ended up as a warrior of the McDonnel Clan, especially since Vikings and Pritani had been enemies for centuries. Heck, I still have whiplash from all the twists and turns in this story, and there were quite a few scenes that just ripped my heart right out of my chest but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, well entertained, and completely smitten with determined archaeologist Jema McShane and reserved mapmaker Tormod Liefson! It had been a thousand years since her death, but he'd made a vow to find her remains and move them to rest next to their parents, a promise he intended to keep. He'd been captured and enslaved but had been freed after agreeing to join the Pritani in defending the Druids from the Romans, which is how he came to be cursed with immortal life and now a member of the McDonnel Clan. Unlike the three previous women of Druid blood who traveled back in time to the fourteenth century Highlands, archaeologist Jema McShane is a Scot with questionable mixed ancestry and did not come through a portal from America. She fell through time via a portal located at a dig site in present-day Scotland while searching for Freya's Eye, an artifact thought to be only myth. I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader, completely captivated with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the time flew as quickly as the pages! If you enjoy well-written medieval historical tales with supernatural elements, and liberally seasoned with time travel, action adventure, danger, drama, passion, and romance, then this book is screaming your name!"
"An edge of your seat page turner, filled twists and turns you don't see coming which. made it impossible to put down. Ms Hunter once again brought her amazing writing skills with countless imagination in this time. travel highlander romance. I received a free copy of this book from the author and I chose to voluntarily review it."
"The pins and needles upon which I sat while reading this book have permanently scarred my poor rear end. I am having a hard time adequately reviewing this book without giving too many spoilers, so I will say this; "Tormod" is well worth reading, but you may want to wear mittens to protect your nails from being bitten to the quick, because this book is the embodiment of the term "nail biter"!."
"Up until now I've liked most of the characters in the stories, but I wasn't so keen on the way Jema didn't bother looking for her twin."
"Tormod goes against his Laird by not telling anyone about the newest time traveling arrival."
"Just love these books, incorporates all my favorite reading genres."
"Great reading...I could not stop reading until the end."
"I would recommend this book .The story was very interesting."

The story line is fabulous, weaving fantasy, relationships, and several love stories in with breathtakingly beautiful geography and realistic history, including wars, peace, and the hardships of a life in Scotland, before the luxuries we enjoy today."
