Fablehaven
— Orson Scott Card, New York Times Bestselling Author. "Imagination runs wild in Fablehaven . For centuries, mystical creatures of all description were gathered to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. Inside the gated woods, ancient laws give relative order among greedy trolls, mischievous satyrs, plotting witches, spiteful imps, and jealous fairies. However, when the rules get broken, an arcane evil is unleashed, forcing Kendra and Seth to face the greatest challenge of their lives. You probably don't need any more reviews of your book, and I might not be someone that anyone would listen to anyhow, but if it helps, I'd like to reiterate what our experience has been from a parent's point of view. She went from her usual mumbling and stumbling to reading loud and clear with great emphasis. , , Heather Arthur (parent) , Amesbury, MA These authors had the following to say about Fablehaven. The dialogue snaps and sizzles...like Harry Potter, Fablehaven can be read aloud in a family with as much pleasure for grownups as for children....do yourself a favor, and don't miss the first novel by a writer who is clearly going to be a major figure in popular fantasy."
Reviews
"the whole series took me 2 weeks to read!"
"Great book forever fun forever all ages."
"Brandon Mull completely outdid himself with the sheer pleasure these books give. The Fablehaven plot itself isnt necessarily a new concept, fairy tale creatures living amongst humans, however, our author makes a grand escape from the usual doldrums of such stories with the idea that these creatures are not what you think them to be. Throughout the books our hero and heroine, brother and sister, have a single purpose,to save the Fablehaven preserve from being exposed and overrun."
"This book is so much fun."
"At their grandparents' sanctuary they discover a hidden world of fairies and imps, a world of witches, demons and naiads, and a world that is dangerous enough that Seth and Kendra may not survive their visit. I particularly liked the exploration of fairies in the book and hope we get to see more of this magical world."
"Love anything that Brandon Mull writes and this is no exception."
"Great book, full of surprises and adventure."
"Kendra and Seth are staying with the Grandpa."

"Awesome series..you won't be disappointed!"
"I really like the world this author made up. And I love the third group that emerges in the last two novels. I loved all the characters."
"After finishing the Dragon King series by a kimberly I went looking for more of he books to read. The beginning had me wondering at first what type of book this would be as the cult the main character is in was disturbing to read about."
"Ms. Roth also does an amazing job writing about important issues like child abuse, what life may be like for a classmate that is different from the typical teen bringing an awareness to the issue without the story having an overly traumatic feel to it."
"Although the last book does a fantastic job in wrapping up the story and incorporating the main characters from the first 2 books, I still feel that book 3 more than book 4 was sort the odd man out."
"I have read several books written by this author and she does not stop amazing me with her stories. With this first book of The Thorn Chronicles, Ms. Loth has weaved an extraordinary tale integrating elements of nature to create stunning metaphors that enhance the storyline."

Inside Out and Back Again
This moving story of one girl's year of change, dreams, grief, and healing received four starred reviews, including one from Kirkus which proclaimed it "enlightening, poignant, and unexpectedly funny." Written in accessible, short free-verse poems, Hà’s immediate narrative describes her mistakes—both humorous and heartbreaking—with grammar, customs, and dress (she wears a flannel nightgown to school, for example); and readers will be moved by Hà’s sorrow as they recognize the anguish of being the outcast who spends lunchtime hiding in the bathroom. Eventually, Hà does get back at the sneering kids who bully her at school, and she finds help adjusting to her new life from a kind teacher who lost a son in Vietnam.

PRAISE FOR FINDING KYLER "Lashings of drama, hot chemistry, and great banter. Georgia Le Carre, International Bestselling Author of The Billionaire Banker " Finding Kyler is fresh, sexy, and everything your romance-loving heart desires." "Drama, betrayals, and steamy romance ... will appeal to readers who enjoyed the Fallen Crest series by Tijan." "Finding Kyler has ... hot guys, a strong heroine we can relate to, plenty of drama and angst, and Siobhan's most shocking cliffhanger yet." Goodreads Reviewer "Kyler Kennedy, for me, was a mixture of Tijan's Mason Kade and Abbi Glines' Rush Finlay." Lola's Reviews "Prepare to witness love, raw, desperate and like the apple in the Garden of Eden, so very forbidden." "Siobhan Davis has proven she is more than capable of writing outside of her science fiction norm, and I'm super excited to read the rest of the series." Three racing motorbikes rest on an elevated platform. One is orange and blue and there is a multitude of brand logos on the side. Motorbikes have always excited me, and the pure rush I'm getting is sending tingles of anticipation ricocheting all over my body.I'm so entranced that I barely register the sound of approaching footsteps. Giant goose bumps sprout on my arms, but I smother my fear and lift my head up in a confident manner. A red flush creeps up my chest and over my neck as a devastatingly good-looking boy reaches my side. I'm tall--for a girl--and I'm usually pretty much on the level with most guys, but the top of my head barely reaches this dude's chin, so he's got to be at least six-two to my five-nine. Slowly, my eyes travel up his body, taking in every ripped, lean, taut inch of him. He's wearing dark navy jeans and a plain white shirt that's molded to his perfectly chiseled abs like it's painted on. They sure don't grow them like this in Ireland. My eyes continue their journey, up beyond the inviting, exposed strip of skin at the top of his shirt, and note voluptuous lips that are pinched tight, the light layer of dark stubble on his sculpted chin and cheeks, and the tan, smooth lines of his handsome face. I brace myself, rocking back on my heels, as I stare into stunning pale blue eyes. Framed by a thick layer of inky-black lashes most girls would kill for, his eyes are vast pools that I could easily drown in.This guy is seriously good-looking, and he knows it, too. Crossing his arms over his chest, he pins me with a venomous look, and I shrink back from the dangerous vibes he's emitting.

"Yes, there is nothing like a Siobhan twist...let's jump at the review: Faye Donovan is alone in the world, she has just lost both her parents in a tragic accident. She isn't too happy but then again she doesn't have a choice as she is under age and she has to go with her new uncle and follow him to America, she decides to do it as her eighteen birthday is only a few months away. The worst nightmare is when certain inappropriate feelings arise between Faye and Kyler Kennedy, her cousin. The end of the book, the twist was a freaking bomb that I wasn't not expecting and I really am hopping that it isn't true. I had a million and one scenarios for that bomb to not be real, but Siobhan Davis surpassed all of them and more, she made me so happy with this book, the first half of it, I kept saying let's go, tell me, tell me but when things started to fall into place? Okay, okay, let's back up a bit, because I'm already jumping the guns because that's what this book is doing to me, I want to talk a million miles an hour because so much happened and there isn't enough time to talk about everything, and at the same time I don't want to tell you that much that happens here because you just have to trust me that it is so worth it reading and that you'll love it. Here is what I going to tell you: After the bomb from the last book, Faye and Ky promise each other to stay out of each others way because they just cannot be together if what James told them is true. Faye just cannot believe what James told her and she is having a hard time to forgive her mother and her father for lying all her life. The older brothers found a space in my heart in this book, totally, yeah that's all I'm going to say. By the end of the first book I hated James to the max, now I feel bad for the guy. Keeping Kyler Review: The Kennedy Boys...well if you haven't started reading this series, let me just tell you one thing; what are you waiting for? Kyler goes on a mission to get answers from his mom's ex boyfriend and while there he finds out more than he wanted and when he left that house he wasn't happy at all. But he was glad to find Faye and one of his brothers in his hotel room in the morning because he definitely he needs their help."
"Finding Kyler -. I absolutely love Siobhan Davis' other book series, True Calling and Saven, so even though this series is a bit different from those series, I was excited to get my hands on Finding Kyler, and I enjoyed it! Siobhan Davis knows how to create an involving story, where once you start the book, you don't want to stop, and Finding Kyler definitely kept my interest. Now, the whole thing of Faye and Kyler being cousins didn't really bother me too much, I think I'm more forgiving when things are in books, then if it were in actual life, so I was cool with that, and Siobhan Davis doesn't just gloss over the issue, she faces it head on in the book. I definitely feel like there's something else going on behind the scenes of Faye's family; especially past transgressions of members of Faye's family, so I'm excited to see where Siobhan takes this story, and I hope the next book doesn't make me wait too long before I get some answers! Normally, there's some things in this book that aren't usually for me when I choose a book, but Siobhan Davis' writing is just so involving and real that the true heart and soul of the book shines through! This is the 2nd book in this series, so you'll definitely want to read the first book, since this book picks up right where the first book ended. So, at the end of the first book, there is a big cliffhanger that has left Faye and Kyler reeling! Kyler is facing some personal struggles, and facing some of these struggles causes more strife than good for Kyler, but Kyler has matured a lot from the first book, and I think he does a great job handling a whole bunch of crud being shoveled his way. Keeping Kyler is interesting and heartfelt, and I still want more Kyler and Faye!"

"My husband piped up, "It's a book about boys, written for girls!" Although it's not the kind of thing I read now, I still suspect my husband's dismissal of it stems from the fact that, as a kid, he hated reading raw, tear-jerky accounts of the ties between men; and NOT that, once he was forced to read it, he found it phony and unbelievable."

The Hate U Give: The Book Everyone’s Talking About
Sixteen-year-old Starr lives in two worlds: the poor neighbourhood where she was born and raised and her posh high school in the suburbs. This story is important.” (Kirkus Reviews (starred review) ). “Though Thomas’s story is heartbreakingly topical, its greatest strength is in its authentic depiction of a teenage girl, her loving family, and her attempts to reconcile what she knows to be true about their lives with the way those lives are depicted—and completely undervalued—by society at large.” (Publishers Weekly (starred review) ). “Pair this powerful debut with Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely’s ALL AMERICAN BOYS to start a conversation on racism, police brutality, and the Black Lives Matter movement.” (School Library Journal (starred review) ). “Thomas has penned a powerful, in-your-face novel that will similarly galvanize fans of Kekla Magoon’s How It Went Down and Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely’s All American Boys.” (Horn Book (starred review) ).
Reviews
"I had originally said I was not going to read this book, I didn't know how well I would like it, and I don't tend to get involved with things that can make life at work harder for me. I hated reading it, I cried my eyes out, Thomas did such an amazing job of making a horrible action into beautiful fiction that made you feel like you were right there. This was really refreshing to read because so many books, YA especially make parents out to be monsters that don't care, that aren't there for their kids. I mean it is like a troupe or something for these stories and it isn't actually the norm and gets annoying to read, so this book did an amazing job with the parents and family. All around though this story just floored me, it gave me a perspective I have never considered before, offered insights into a world I am not a part of, and I loved every minute of it."
"In January, uber popular author, John Green, tweeted that The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas would become a classic. I can see this book lasting, not because it’s timeless (hopefully the struggles addressed in THUG will be no more, as Starr prophesied), but because it’s a flashpoint in American history that shouldn’t be forgotten even if it’s rectified. Angie Thomas’ debut is the kind of transformative and accessible novel that can touch a variety of readers and have long-lasting effects. They’re vigorous and honest, Angie Thomas’ words giving them breath, blood, and life. If you’ve read the blurb, then you know the Black Lives Matter movement inspires this novel. Experiencing the effects of that moment from Starr’s perspective is gut wrenching, although, I can foresee some readers feeling numb. Her rage over her friend’s murder is the emotion that steals the show, never leading to traditional acceptance. I mean, with all the hype it’s impossible not to go into this book with some expectation and my greatest fear regarding THUG was that it would piss me off."
"It was illuminating and a powerful read about the very real struggle on the streets today and a call to activism to provide a future filled with opportunities for people of all creeds."

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is left only with a lightning-bolt scar on his forehead, curiously refined sensibilities, and a host of mysterious powers to remind him that he's quite, yes, altogether different from his aunt, uncle, and spoiled, piglike cousin Dudley. Of course, Uncle Vernon yells most unpleasantly, "I AM NOT PAYING FOR SOME CRACKPOT OLD FOOL TO TEACH HIM MAGIC TRICKS!" So far it has won the National Book Award, the Smarties Prize, the Children's Book Award, and is short-listed for the Carnegie Medal, the U.K. version of the Newbery Medal. After 11 years of disregard and neglect at the hands of his aunt, uncle and their swinish son Dudley, Harry suddenly receives a visit from a giant named Hagrid, who informs Harry that his mother and father were a witch and a wizard, and that he is to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry himself.

"SPECIAL NOTE: For U.S. customers purchasing the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, you will notice the text has NOT been converted to the "Americanized" version of the original U.S. releases (with the exception of changing all "Philosopher's Stone" mentions to "Sorcerer's Stone"). Good or bad is naturally for each reader to decide--just know, if you plan to read the books while listening to Jim Dale's audiobooks, you'll notice a few superficial differences. The quality of this new illustrated edition is phenomenal. All chapter intros are illustrated."
"IMPORTANT: For U.S. customers purchasing the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, you will notice the text has NOT been converted to the "Americanized" version of the original U.S. releases. This difference isn't as prominent or noticeable as it was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, but still something to keep in mind. Also, to answer a question that has come up quite a bit, this is the FULL BOOK and not an abridged or shortened version. Underneath the book jacket, the novel is bound in a sturdy orange hardback with green lettering on the spine."
"I was ravenous to get my hands on my copy as soon as it was delivered this morning, but was quickly disappointed. But when I took a close look at my dust jacket, I was extremely upset to find that the gold foil lettering for "Harry Potter" had been rubbed away and destroyed completely in some places leaving ugly, black matte in its place-- pock marking the otherwise handsome gold lettering. Needless to say I'm in awe how Bloomsbury has managed to put together such an incredible project, with JK Rowling's remarkable literature and Jim Kay's otherworldly illustrations-- and allowed it to be put together in a low quality binding! Not all alone in a box... Update (October 9th): I have finally received my new book and it was in much, much better condition. The cover and spine were tight, intact and falling apart from the binding like my original copy."
