This STX has a powerful 1,800 watts motor, more than enough to do all of the duties of a home kitchen (and maybe even of a small restaurant). The ground meat texture results very similar to that from a supermarket grinder. We didn't notice that, and what went to the dishwasher was damaged: the shining was gone and those parts became some rough to touch. So, I contacted the seller (The Mercantile Station) and asked them the price of the replacing parts, since I would buy them. What a pleasant surprise: they promptly sent me an email asking for my address, and they kindly offered to send the parts for free (despite, I must stress, the damage was caused by me). IMPORTANT NOTE: a few months after we bought our STX, the motor was improved to 2,000 watts, i.e, an increase of about 11%."

"I have used both a plastic grinder - decent grind, but dust and residue bonded to the plastic and had to be soaked and/or scraped very often - and a metal one - magnetic lid, but no powder filter and capture, and rather dull teeth - grinders, but the GG is far and away the best. The dust filter works very well, and I just store the powder in the bottom catch chamber, where it lands, until there’s a good amount for use."

If not, it's easy to unplug, unscrew the front and remove the bones or whatever that are stuck. I followed the instructions and used the coarsest grind for bony stuff, then reground it using the medium grinder. All the dangerous parts are on the inside where your hands and fingers can't reach."
"The blades are hard steel, so you have to lube them with olive oil or something between uses to prevent rust--that's an OK trade-off for hard, sharp blades in my book."

"Why I purchased this grinder: I was buying this grinder as a second machine to go with my Tasin TS-108 grinder since I am making more RAW pet food these days and wanted to have a back-up grinder in case something happened to mine but after further inspection I was not impressed with the over-all quality of this machine. The feed housings are the same size at the throat where the meat drops down from the feed tray and where it drops into the auger area so basically this means they both can handle the same sized pieces of meat or chicken parts. The plates used in this grinder have tabs on them and this bothered me a bit, my TS-108 uses plates with one notch in them and I can get these plates all over the place (locally or on internet) but feel I might have an issue getting these tabbed plates locally should the need arise. Anyway, sorry STX Intl."
