Find Best Price at Amazon"As this happened, the wine cooler could only achieve/maintain about 10 degrees Fahrenheit below room temperature, in contrast to the 17-18 degrees Fahrenheit below room temperature it could achieve when new. When fixing it, I used the following components: a) Fan - I replaced the original 90 mm fan with a 140 mm fan that pushes 60 CFM and draws 0.14A, which is about the same amp draw as the original fan. The fan runs at top speed (1000 rpm) during cooling and cannot be heard - much quieter than the original fan. It has been two years since I fixed it; the wine cooler now achieves and hold about 20 degrees Fahrenheit below ambient temperature. If I set the cooler to 50F, then the Peltier and fan cycle on & off. I've attached three photos to this review showing what the modified back of the fixed cooler looks like, the difference between ambient and interior temperature, and the difference between the heat-sink temperature and the interior temperature."
"Avanti makes very good products, nonetheless - when I plugged it in, I was unable to change any of the parameters (temp, wine type) on the display. Finally figured that out; as you open bottles and reseal with your vacu-vin or what have you, it doesn't make sense to lay them back down, they're not going to "breathe" through those seals so, stand 'em up and they'll be ready when you are for your next glass! July 12, 2016 Update - As I passed the cooler today, I noticed that the temperature displayed was 58 degrees (set on 55,) no fans running and no action from the buttons."

Find Best Price at Amazon"On the advice of one of the NewAir reps (who also offered to sell be a new set of back motors for $20) I once more took off the back panel (again, be sure to UNPLUG the unit) , unscrewed the two fans in the back and, after more dust removal, which is only possible if you detach the fans, used a spray lubricant on the two motor shafts. You need to lay the cooler (empty) on its front to do this and it also requires a very small Phillips-head screw driver that can fit through the small hole on the outward-facing plastic frame of each motor. Keeping the cooler balanced (mine was not, and one of our cats liked to jump on it) and unplugging the unit and dusting inside the shield it every year or so along with a monthly cleaning of the small outside filter might prevent the motor noise problem."

"Instruction book states that the temp readout reflects the temperature in the center of the unit and that the upper and lower portions can be UP TO 7 DEGREES HIGHER! For a refrigerator that can't maintain a 54 or 55 deg temp, that means that the top and bottom could be up to 70 degrees! You're going to lose at least one rack, which means the unit will only hold 20-24 bottles. Takes a few hours to drop in temp after you add bottles that may be slightly warmer than the interior. How the company gets away with calling this a wine refrigerator, when it cannot maintain at least a 60 deg."
