"Thank you for sending. I'm from Colombia, is an amazing instrument, I loved it."
"The pickup is more than adequate but it is essential to take the plate off and adjust the pressure on the pickup nut according to the Fishman site instructions (full turn past plate contact) or it will lose clarity and resonance."
"I am old finger picker, but I was always curious about slide and saw the Houndog hanging in a music store and decided to try it out. After about six returns to the store and some price research and review reading on the net, I decided to buy it. I recommend this model for anyone looking for a great sounding resonator at a bargain price."
"Years ago I made the mistake of buying a real cheap Resonator guitar (won't mention the company's name). My old dobro sounded like wet rubber band on the lower strings and the bass notes were almost indistinguishable from another. It would be ludicrous to compare it to one of the high end luthier made resonators from Sheerhorn or Beard that go for 4 or 5 thousand dollars but this thing is built to last and sounds great on stage too. Bought a Fishman preamp to boost the pickup output and was surprised how good it sounds live over my PA. Now that I enjoy playing and practicing my skills have improved and I am getting better every day. The comparative resonator gits in this price class were all inferior to the Hound Dog in my estimation. If you're looking for a low end dobro that won't let you down and gives you a big bang for a few (5) hundred bucks, I can highly recommend the Hound Dog."
"GOT IT QUICK ENOUGH BUT DIDN'T GET ANY PAPERWORK WITH MODEL OR SERIAL NUMBERS NEEDED FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES, THANK YOU."

Pick up a Gretsch G9240 Alligator Biscuit Cone Roundneck acoustic guitar, and tap into the swampy resonator sound you love, without relearning how to play. Body.

Find Best Price at Amazon"A few things to know right off the bat about resonators, there are 3 different types of resonators; tri-cone, spider and biscuit. These tend to be a little more stripped down sound, which is desirable for a stripped down blues vibe. About the purchase: The resonator came quickly and well packed. Given what I knew about CME, I knew the instrument was going to be shipped in good condition, set up and inspected. Also, CME does the courtesy to let the buyer know (with a sticker) not to open the box right away but let it sit for a day in the shipping box. Add the Mother-of-Pearl, headstock...a good looking instrument. Like most resonators, the more attack you have in your picking, the more the 'resonatory-ness' you get. This round neck was comfortable to play straight away and still good for slide playing. I've been playing guitar for 30+ years and owned my share of great instruments. To use a strap (which I do on all guitars, even seated), you have to have another button installed or get one of those 'folk guitar' straps that you use the button on the butt-end but have to tie on to the headstock."
"Epic, dirty little axe."
"The Johnson, Oscar Schmidt, and Dean wood bodied resonators are competitively priced with the G9240 and they may be fine, but they are all more contemporary thin body depth electric resonators and have more narrow 14 fret necks. Furthermore, for my preferences, the set-up on the guitar I received is excellent for combining fretting and slide; 1/8" height at the bass E string at the 12th fret and 3/32" at the high E string at the 12th fret. The strings that came installed were D'Addario EJ16, but I traded out the 1st and 2nd string for heavier .014 and .017 plain strings; just personal preference."
"action set up just fine - if you think it's too low, work on your slide hand."
"For this price, the guitar packs a hell of a punch."
"Had to replace the resonator cone after I wrecked it using .016-.056 resonator strings."
"This dobro sounds just right ,I didnt want another "same" sounding acoustic so I opted for the Bisquet resonator and im happy I did."
"Was poorly set up and would cost too much to fix."

Find Best Price at Amazon"I want to start by saying that most of the very few negative reviews on here are because these individuals do not know how to set up a guitar, or know that most new guitars need to be set up in the first place. These are not necessary, but for all the reviewers who say this doesn't sound as good as some of the nice ones, put the new saddle on and the new strings, set the action, torque the truss rod, and you have yourself a wonderful sounding guitar. If you are new to guitar, I would highly recommend taking it to a guitar shop and having them set your action. For anyone experienced with guitars, the sound quality will be pretty good stock, but to make it resonate and sound full bodied and amazing (like a true solid spruce top guitar) change out the saddle for a TUSQ or something equivalent and buy some Ernie ball Earthwood medium light 80/20 strings. I keep referring to the action, this is the amount of space between the frets and the strings, it is the most crucial part of setting up a new guitar and will make ease of playing, sound quality and the whole experience fantastic. DO NOT waste your money on any other cheap guitar out there, and remember... when you buy a new guitar, it needs to be set up!"
"I needed a "crasher" guitar that I wouldn't feel guilty if I bumped it around and another guitar for a gift. This is a nice looking, nice playing and nice sounding guitar (the same qualities that make for a good girlfriend.). If you play guitar and want a "crasher" guitar, or you want to learn, or you want to give a very nice gift... this is it."
"I bought this guitar to use with the Fender Play guitar lesson since I saw an ad on facebook and saw that it was half price for life. In my highly unqualified opinion I think this is a pretty nice guitar for a very good entry level price. I bought one several years ago and quickly became frustrated just to sell it, for a loss, after it sat int he corner for a few months."
"But of course not--it is not a $300 guitar; it is a $70 guitar."

"It's not like a luthier made this, definitely a factory in China, but you'll be surprised with how nice this plays."
"The gig bag doesn't offer a whole lot of protection, but it does have some light padding and will do just fine for storing it at the house. (Edit 7/12/13 - the picture has been changed and the tuner that is now shown is the one that I received). 2) the extra string pack was missing, but Amazon CS more than made up for that. I'm not letting either of those little quirks affect my 5 star rating, because overall I feel like this is a great package for someone who is taking their first steps in learning how to play."
"But do not buy this guitar if the instructional dvd is one of the reasons your buying it."
"My one complaint- why in the world would the seller put an advertisement sticker on the body of the guitar???"
"Item arrived as scheduled."
"I Ordered the natural finish and this guitar is gorgeous. Unfortunately the case has a defective latch but I will not return the bundle because I received a great guitar with a beautiful "voice"."
"He still doesn't think its better than his guitar but he thinks for a beginner or someone that is still fairly new to playing this guitar would be a great start for them and would let them progress far enough until they want to buy a very expensive guitar."
