There's no way the turtles can get out the top unless you have a Houdini turtle but I have to force mine open and closed because of this but it still works fine. I also ike the water level about the same size as the bottom hang out bar because my turtles like to sit on top of each other under there and take in the window sunight as well but when its around that level its not far enough for the ramp to make it into the water."
