More than 300 years before flying machines were perfected, Leonardo devised plans for prototypes of an airplane and a helicopter. His extensive studies of human anatomy were portrayed in anatomical drawings, which were among the most significant achievements of Renaissance science. Even in this early period of his life, Leonardo's mastery of his art was evident, especially in two unfinished paintings: St. Jerome and The Adoration of the Magi. He was also frequently consulted by workmen in the fields of architecture, fortifications, and weaponry; and he served as a hydraulic and mechanical engineer. Through his remarkable ability to understand what he saw, he determined to compose a unified theory of the world and to illustrate it in a series of voluminous noteboooks. Unfortunately his relentless pursuit of scientific knowledge forced him to leave unfinished many of his planned artistic creations. His largest commission, a huge mural entitled Battle of Anghiari for the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence's city hall, remained unfinished. For ten months during 1502, Leonardo served as military adviser and engineer under Cesare Borgia in the latter's campaign to subdue the Papal States. He traveled through Borgia's territories, surveyed them, and made sketches of city plans and topographical maps that laid the groundwork for the field of modern cartography. Back in Florence in 1503, Leonardo worked on the complicated engineering project of diverting the Arno River around Pisa in order to deprive that city of its access to the sea. He also busied himself with dissections of corpses at the hospital of Santa Maria Nuova, made observations on the flight of birds, and continued studies of the properties of water and its currents. During the years 1513 to 1516, Leonardo was in Rome at the invitation of Cardinal Giuliano de' Medici, brother of Pope Leo X. He executed a map of the Pontine Marshes near Rome, suggesting that perhaps he was involved in a planned reclamation project. The anatomical exactness of the horse, the proportions, and the feeling of movement in the sketches profoundly influenced the design of equestrian statues in the 17th century. His studies for large-scale canal projects in the Arno River region of Italy demonstrate that he was an expert in hydraulic engineering. His writing program began during the first stay in Milan, specifically between 1490 and 1495, when his strong inclination toward scientific studies showed itself. One of the most exciting finds of the 20th century was the discovery early in 1967 of 700 lost pages of manuscripts and drawings in the Spanish National Library in Madrid. With S&T all I have to do is tell it to avoid this area by dragging the mouse over the map and the planned route is instantly modified. "In addition to maintaining several thousand points, I receive addresses several times a day from people whereby I find their location and give them directions to the closest point in my database. What has forced me to upgrade from 2007 is the new map data so I can match newer addresses. I match by GPS coordinates because the same errors and bad alternative suggestions come up here when I match by addresses, and there is no way to go into the map to find the right info without cancelling the matching procedure. Once the data is in, you have to manually check all the attributes you want to display that did not match their list of predetermined attributes. If there are many sets of data imported and many attributes you want displayed for each point, it is slow going in checking all those boxes to display the data (couldn't they display all by default?). If some addresses did not match before, you will have to handle those errors all over again, check all the show data boxes again, reassign the icon, etc. I tried to copy/paste points from 2007 to 2013; the listing appears in the legend, but without points on the map. Icons: One reason I did not upgrade after 2007 was that the new icons for points were ugly and busy. When I have several thousand points on my map, pretty detailed icons are not a plus. In 2007, I could get around the lack of this feature by doing a slight name change to a data set, and then it would bump it to the top of the list (where I could then change the name back to the original). This "feature" has been removed, and I can find no way to order the list of icons short of importing/creating them in the order you want. Map data: I am assuming it is as updated as their data provider can get."
"The purpose of having the Streets&Trips Software is mainly for trip planning. In trip planning, I prefer to use MS Streets&Trips than the on-line based maps (Google map, bing map...etc) for following reasons: 1. Every planned trip becomes a single map file that can be easily reviewed at later time. This is especially useful when I am on a multi-day trip. Multiple Destinations: MS Streets&Trips is especially good if you have more than 3 stops on a trip. With MS Streets&Trips, I can zoom in/out the map to get exact print out. However, I agree with other reviewers that MS Streets&Trips 2013 does not seem to be much different from MS Streets&Trips 2009."

There are no instructions, however, on what each method includes (other than the keys) and what happens when your child captures the castle at the end of that lesson set. I'm not clear on how much progression the program is providing her now that she has access to the additional games and exercises in the castle. I 'm not clear on if we need to change the setting to 'recommended' program, which will start her over in all the island areas... and if so will the games be different or the same with just additional letters included? The program gives feedback (results) to the kid, and doesn't let the progress until they pass certain speed challenges (which include accuracy requirements) so the challenge is there, but the fun is too."
