Best Men's Thermal Underwear

Duofold Men's Mid-Weight Wicking Thermal Pant
Classic 2-ply cotton-rich thermal underwear. 60% Cotton/40% Polyester.
Reviews
"I got these and the Heavy Weight double layer thermal shirt, which seem perfectly matched."
"These things work well in the sense that they keep you warm without overheating you during cold (sub zero Fahrenheit) climates, but they don't fit you that well in the area males would like the most support. It's not a bad purchase for the price, but if you want an all-in-one product, I'd spend the extra money to get maybe full or mostly synthetic thermal pants."
"He almost would not let me order him longjohns, because he thought they were the old-fashioned white waffles, LOL!"
"They feel weird when I first put them on and begin my day, but I get used to the extra length in the crotch area and they end up doing a fine job of keeping me warm."
"I bought some duofold shirts and they shrank a bit. Overall very warm and light weight, even under your shirt or pants."
"As noted in someone else's review, they don't fit as snugly as briefs, so unless you're more of a boxers fan don't be surprised if you're more comfortable with a pair of briefs as an under layer (I am)."
"got these for my boyfriend and he loved them."
"The medium ended up fitting much better, however they are still a little short in the length (nothing a tall wool sock can't fix)."

"Inspired by a photo on the product page, I even tried wearing a buttoned collared shirt underneath one, and this looks great- the Duofold shirt looks like a lightweight sweater over the top and classes up nicely."
"Given my experiences in using this shirt for motorcycling, I expect this shirt will work great for doing outdoor work in the winter."
"This shirt and a rain layer will probably be good down to about 45 degrees if you have the long underwear and good socks on and of course any fabric pant."
"I've trusted Duofold products since I can remember, and I've hunted and fished, backpacked and camped, and skied and sledded as many of the 60 years I've been around on this planet."
"It was the old style thermal underwear waffle-weave (not sure if that's actually what it's called), so I was disappointed when I first saw the smooth, almost jersey t-shirt feel of this new shirt."
"It does get quite cold here in New England in the winter so I wanted a thermal long sleeved T-shirt for the bottom layer."
"I bought this top to give as a gift and got the matching pants as well."
"It isn't the waffle-type thermal."

"I’m convinced these were either blessed by the Virgin Mary or someone traded their soul to the devil to make them this amazing. Besides the fact they’re absolutely beyond any shade of a doubt made out of unicorn hair and magic, these are also made with some sort of cooling system better than the space shuttle!"
"My weight fluctuates quite a bit with my average waist size being about 33", and since I own these boxers in both medium and large I find myself gravitating more toward the large size when I'm less active and I wear the mediums when I'm active and need a snugger waist band."
"I did a lot of research before making a purchase for my oh so hard to buy for adult son who lives 1000's of miles away. He lives and plays in the great outdoors, and he'd rather get a root canal than go shopping. I know this is the last time I'll ever get these though, because he's bound to go out and buy 1/2 dozen pair now for home and offshore."
"I'm very picky on texture and feel of fabric, these feel great."
"These have a lot of stretch and they fit great."
"Not sure about the others who said buy small for my size, no way I can wear something this tight."
"The thought was; wash them and they would dry by morning. I also brought 6 additional pair of cotton underwear with me on the trip :Thank God"."
"My checklist is as follows: when I put my pants on, I don't want the legs of my underwear to bunch up, forcing me to reach inside each pant leg, and push them down. if any of you out there have found THE underwear, and have similar criteria, I welcome your recommendation."

"I look at box and their medium size was smaller than the medium size on Amazon."
"I work in the cold every day and these really make the difference."
"I bought some duofold shirts and they shrank a bit. Overall very warm and light weight, even under your shirt or pants."
"These long undies look great and feel great."
"They fir perfectly, they're well made and no major shrinkage when washed."
"I like these, the fabric is soft which makes them comfortable, but beware, these are not to be use in a really cold environment, you'll be good if you're going to be in a mild cold otherwise these are not as warm as you might think."
"Nice, soft, comfortable and warm for cool weather."

"There is no sizing chart provided for this union suit, so I will spare you the agony I had to go through ordering the wrong size: Men's Sizes: Small: Chest 34"-36". Pants/Waist: 29"-30". Medium: Chest 38"-40". Pants/Waist: 32"-34". Large: Chest 42"-44". Pants/Waist: 36"-38". X-Large: Chest 46"-48". Pants/Waist: 40"-42". 2X-Large: Chest 50"-52". Pants/Waist: 44"-46". This info came off the package itself."
"My husband works outside all year around and the winters can get very cold."
"I have had my original pair for two years and worn every single day in the cold weather. And if my boys leave it a tad too long in the dryer (ahem) that solved that."
"UPDATE: My husband has worn these pretty much everyday during 2 long Oklahoma winters and around the house as jammies."
"They seemed a bit large when I opened them, but after washing them, they shrunk just enough to fit right, and have not shrunk further."
"A bit large but otherwise fine as it shrinks a little during the first wash or two."
"First "union suit" I have ever had so I don't really know how to judge it."
"These are the perfect thermals."

"Great shorts, easy to hand wash and line dry."
"I own one size up and had to buy a smaller size, and it fit exactly as I'd hoped."

"(for reference I am 5'8", 175#, 32" waist and usually wear either an athletic-cut large shirt or a medium if it's cut normally...yes, I live in size hell). Bonehead: This shirt is 100% cotton and is very tough. Given the pros of the other shirts, however, I must say this style is my least favorite (but still a great shirt, and my go-to work shirt). The "Super Bahama" version has a print rather than solid colors. I wear a small in this shirt as well. I wear a small in this one as well and it's my favorite for very hot weather but I would be very hesitant to wear it for work applications. Baitcaster: Lightweight like the Tamiami but different cut and different pockets. It's kind of a cleaner version of the Tamiami, however, because of the cut I wear a medium in this rather than the small in most of the others. In a hot climate you may be able to find a cooler shirt but if one exists I don't know about it."
"Shirt feels great, and is a bit lighter than the PFG gear you usually see from Columbia."
"Great shirt, very breathable."
"I bought a large and I think it is sized just right....but my son, who I bought it for, likes the look & feel of it but he thinks it fits a bit looser than other shirts he owns."
"It doesn't really show in the photos and is ridiculous on a shirt you are never going to tuck in."
"This is a fine shirt."
"Perfect for all hot weather activities except for just standing around in hot humid weather."
"It only widens the shirt....not lengthens, so I had to return because if you have big shoulders and are over 6' tall, these are not sized long enough as the photos suggest."

Best Men's Hiking Pants

CQR Men's Tactical Pants Lightweight EDC Assault Cargo TLP105
CQR tactical pants are constructed with a hint of military and law enforcement performance design.
Reviews
"I've crawled through mud, climbed trees, and wiped greasy hands on these pants and after a washing they look just as clean as the day I got them...it's magical. Hardcore 511 fans aren't going to switch over to these pants, but if you're looking for great pants at an affordable price that you won't be afraid to try and destroy, then I think you'll be very pleased with these pants. Differential gear oil, thorny bushes, crawling on your hands and knees on a gravel road, or lassoing a wild giraffe, these pants hold up to anything."
"The stitching reflects the Chinese origin: sloppy work, with dangling loops of thread. The rear pockets are pleated, with a diagonal flap and Velcro pad situated off-center: strange looking, but just might be quite serviceable. The left features side gussets and a Velcro flap, but the pocket is too small for a cell phone, keys, or much of anything else. Except it's just about the right size for a couple of .45 magazines, and that might or might not be a useful feature (A Glock 17 mag fits nicely, if you're a fan of poodle shooters). Oddly, the right cargo pocket has a little slit at the top of the flap (shown in the second photo from the bottom, lower right)."
"Lightweight durable material, lots of pockets in a good configuration, just the right fit for me- not baggy but also not too tight. Even with these complaints I still rate them highly, although I may find another to test for better durability before buying another pair."
"in if I want to conceal carry in the right front pocket instead of wearing an IWB holster, which the waist also accommodates very comfortably."
"I read all the 5 star reviews and all the 1 star reviews."
"But he wanted a pair of lighter weight camping pants and he has several pairs of 511's that he wears all the time."

"In comparison my 67% wool Wigwam socks are thicker, but just a bit too thick for my tastes. There is some pilling, but nearly as much as you'd expect from wool socks in this price range."
"The socks are very slightly different, but the quality has gotten better, contrary to some recent reviews, and I like these newer ones more than my old ones. Socks are way more important than a lot of people realize and these just make me very happy."
"I've been fighting all of these things for over a year and not once have I thought that maybe wearing cheap hanes socks might have something to do with it. Here's what I have to say about People Socks: I have a size 12 foot on the wide side and these socks fit my feet perfectly. My feet do not sweat whatsoever in these socks and my feet have a tendency to sweat even when I'm sitting down doing nothing that involves a lot of walking or running when wearing cheap hanes socks. With these socks on my feet stayed completely dry, they felt a little cold as if water was trying to get in, but my feet stayed bone dry. I cannot believe the change in my foot condition just from wearing wool socks."
"When I deployed to Afghanistan, a buddy recommended I stock up on wool socks. After the first time slipping my feet into a pair, I was sold - never going back to cotton/poly blends. So, I shopped around quite a bit to find the best bang for the buck - when you're a single dude in the military, you're not exactly rolling in the dough. My research discovered the best wool socks out there (IMO) were the Redhead brand that Bass Pro shop sells - $10-15 for a pair."
