"We've bought and replaced the typical-style snorkels several times due to all of those annoying issues that seems to go along with them (flimsy, leaky masks, breakage in the breathing apparatus, etc). We were even able to communicate without all the flailing hand gestures ;) Granted, you're still under water so it's difficult to hear, but since your nose and mouth are both free, it's relatively easy to talk. We definitely got a lot of strange looks, and you'll feel like a huge nerd with this giant astronaut-style facemask with big ol' straps on the the back of your head, but the ease of use and quality of the mask will make you super happy you sacrificed traditional masks and "style", I promise ;) Also, be prepared to have a big red ring around your face after prolonged use (don't worry, it fades quickly and it doesn't hurt)."

Use colgate toothpaste to cover the inside of the mask and let it sit until your next trip...then rinse it out....your mask will never fog up again. Set the straps where you need them and safety pin them or even use a paper clip to keep them in place for a good seal that will stay."

Find Best Price at Amazon"Also, you might need to have some kind of lubricant on hand to help some of these pieces to fit together more easily, a metal file, and you might have to (as I did) get some extra bolts that have a screw slot on the head instead of the round headed bolts that come with the unit. Take the shorter curved tube (part#2) and insert it into the square rubber piece (part#3). Next take the long tube (part#1) and insert it into the rubber part from the other side. NOTE: part#1 and part#2 have male/female endings so one tube slides into the other. Before you begin to put the bolts in place, you have to fit the large metal plate (part#4) snugly against the bottom of the rubber part#3. In my case, several of the bolts would not seat properly as they were supposed to, so that when it came tome to tighten down the nut on the bottom, the bolt's head would not "grab" into the square hole of plate #4 and the bolt would simply turn without tightening. The bolt heads are round (yes they look good, but...) and so there was no other way to keep the bolt from turning while I was trying to ratchet the nut from the bottom. Later after these are all bolted in place you can insert the two longer bolts (part#8) into the middle holes. Once the bolts are all inserted and the nuts tightened down (If your experience is like mine, you'll really enjoy this part) you are practically done with that part of the assembly that only has to be done once. You slide the narrow metal bracket (part#5) with the concave side facing the bottom of the larger metal plate and attach the wing-nuts (part#7), just to keep all the parts together."
"I needed some racks to haul my kayaks, so I went to a local big box store, and found a set of J-Racks for about $80 (a few cents less), plus tax. They work like a charm, hold securely at highway speeds, and do what they should do. I'm only going to gig my rating because of the length of the straps, and the lack of front and rear tie downs. Some have said (and there's a good Youtube video showing it) to put the blocks in boiling water to soften them up. I was about to do that, but I didn't feel like digging out the pot and firing up the stove (besides, with my luck I'd burn myself). The blocks are stiff, but you can pry them open while put the tubes in; it's really not that hard. (A ratchet box wrench is a great tool for assembly and mounting.). I can't vouch for round or square cross bars, but they work great on the Rola 59836 Hyundai Tucson Cross Bar I've got on my Tucson. They're wide, and not real thick, and the J-rack clamps tighten down just fine."

"When I stretch out my legs, I have to tuck my feet to the sides of the front seat. You'd have to scrape against some jagged metal or be hit head on by a hard pointy branch for this to puncture. The fin/skeg works fine and is easy to install but requires decent hand strength to remove (a good thing). I drilled a hole and put a fishing line through it in case the skeg falls off as suggested by others, but this is unnecessary. I'm going to remove the fishing line before the next trip because it is unnecessary and gets seaweed,etc caught in it creating more drag."

Find Best Price at Amazon"My friend who turned me onto SUP works at a shop that only sells YOLO boards and that is all they use personally, as well. I had only used a regular SUP so I can't compare to other iSUP boards but this one is really easy to get around. Hubby was convinced the gauge wasn't working but I had read about it taking a while to register and told him to keep going. That being said, it isn't terrible and I decided to buy board #2 rather than shelling out the money for a carbon paddle. I tell you this because with getting on and off the board in the middle of the lake --dragging my body out of a fresh water lake is not as easy as the brakish water I am used to in FL-- sunscreen got on the white portion and make it look yellow/dirty. We used them 2 days in a row and I decided packing them up wet is okay but I will always wash them right when I get home from now on. I used a sponge and a cleaner that has oils in it because I don't want to dry it out really bad with constant use to clean them. I also washed the poles and turned the bags inside out and sprayed them down --I don't want any weird odors from lake water having dried on them. To make sure it was gonna work with the board the guy went out and looked at it with me. Out at the lake a few people commented on how nice they looked =) I really like that the paddles match the boards. For 1- no one can take MY paddle (I am at the point I am getting over the "what is mine is yours" aspect of parenting, haha), and 2- I can see from pretty far if the people on the SUPs out there belong to me! I got 2 right away because hubby was getting ready to go on a long trip for work and I wanted us to be able to SUP together rather than taking turns."
"Practice or take the manual with you if you can’t remember how the valve is supposed to be to cut off air flow. I am very accustomed to 11-12 foot hard boards, and I SUP on the Potomac River in DC which is generally flat but sees its share of wake from boats, scullers, and currents. Disassembling was easy, but the bag seams are not very well constructed so be careful when you zip it up and be patient. In summary: Pros: Affordable, beautiful board, seems durable, easy assembly, light to carry once inflated, soft cushy foot board, sturdy tether ropes to keep your stuff in place. Cons: Not as stable as a hard board, you feel every ripple of water underneath you which can feel alarming, no Go Pro mount for those who want one, VERY heavy which may make traveling with it hard and that's why I bought it. ****Late season update:****. I'm back to give a little more of a review to the board. Think like you’re working on the railroad and do some squats while you pump it for an easier experience. I used the glue in the repair kit to patch it but it didn't seem to work because every time some water gets on the surface of the board, it bubbles and hisses. I'm still trying to get to them after sending an email, phone call, left a voicemail; and a message on Instagram. It's just a little tough and there are sharp corners that form that kind of scare me that they're going to wear or something. I really want to keep this board around for a long time, and I don't always have the budget to buy it, so that makes me nervous. I’ve been stopped so many times by curious paddlers asking where I got it and complimenting me on it, so I highly recommend it. Still staying with 4 stars because of the difficulty I had reaching out to Isle about the scratch."
