This real stone is a flexible, lightweight, approximately 1/8" thick tile backsplash product that offers the DIY homeowner a thin-cut stone option for a fraction of the price of its designer counterpart. A skilled stone craftsman then fractures and peels a 1/16-inch thick layer away from the large slab, yielding a thin section of bonded real stone. The thin layer of the sedimentary stone, cured resin backer and peel and stick foam adhesive combined make a beautiful, real stone product which is flexible yet can be cut with simple shears. Find Best Price at Amazon"These tiles are $15 per square foot... which is about average for nicer quality mosaic sheets. I have a modest sized kitchen with out a 30 sq ft area between the cabinets and counters. Generally speaking stuff in a kitchen is not always square.. so you kind of have to just keep adjusting things slightly as you are installing. I bought tin snips for this project (ad that into the final cost too) and i had about a half dozen outlets and some other things to cut around. It is almost impossible to cut a pristine straight line down the center due to the natural undulation of the rock. The wall looks the best when there is under cabinet lighting that is turned on so you can see the shadows of the undulations and textures of the rock. I just opened the box and took all of the tiles out and spread them on the garage floor for a day and that pretty much aired them out. ( im writing this 2 months later fyi). My final thoughts on this again are... it is a pretty cool product."

I just put the first tile on the wall and didn't consider the placement of the next. I started at the top staggered edge and worked left to right using my hands to ensure it was firmly up against the wall and overlapping the previous tile. I cut small each time because I figured it would be better to keep cutting a little more than cutting to much and my patience payed off. Lastly I added my sealant to the top of the counter top, let it dry, cleaned up my mess, wiped my back splash down with a damp towel for a last minute check for bubbles."
