A lot of things like this I've put together were made out of particleboard, or some other weak kind of wood. I know the item's description here gives the dimensions, but that's one of those things that doesn't click in your head until you get it together. We have a similar style table and chair set up in the main living room, and I got this for a secondary one in his bedroom. It was easy to put together (and I'm the kind of guy who usually swears at household projects, not finish them), and once together it felt QUITE sturdy. If the size was more in tune to the 3-8 yrs recommended in the description, I'd give this a five stars."

A few things to note: the child needs to learn not to lean on/touch the table other than when they are intentionally touching/interacting with it. The table is very sensitive - you don't push the buttons, you just touch it - so it goes all haywire when she's leaning on it. It might be nice if they gave a little border at the front so kids can lean on it/put their hands somewhere - and have the buttons further up. Older children can be taught to be careful - but my 2 year old wouldn't know until she got hurt. The stool and table are quite strong and sturdy due to the legs bending out - so it has a nice wide base. Personally, my 2 year old needs some more growing up and calming down before she can really take advantage of this product, but there's no doubt that she can learn a lot from it."

"In additional to sliding in the metal slats, of which there are plenty, you also have to snap in plastic connectors (3 per slat on the upper bunk, 4 per slat on the lower bunk). Note that the top bunk has guard rails, but the manual says your mattress on that bunk should be maximum 6" thick. On some of the more expensive bunk beds, the fasteners appear quite prominently, even at a distance. It was actually the cheapest twin-over-full bunk bed that we saw anywhere, and we shopped around. One last thought: You can easily slide another 6" mattress underneath the lower bunk to use as an emergency sleeping arrangement for a guest, or for your kids' occasional sleepover. If you look for bunk beds with a trundle, they can be quite expensive, so you can satisfy the same occasional need just by sliding a mattress underneath this unit...like a poor man's trundle bed..."
