A few things to note: the child needs to learn not to lean on/touch the table other than when they are intentionally touching/interacting with it. The table is very sensitive - you don't push the buttons, you just touch it - so it goes all haywire when she's leaning on it. It might be nice if they gave a little border at the front so kids can lean on it/put their hands somewhere - and have the buttons further up. Older children can be taught to be careful - but my 2 year old wouldn't know until she got hurt. The stool and table are quite strong and sturdy due to the legs bending out - so it has a nice wide base. Personally, my 2 year old needs some more growing up and calming down before she can really take advantage of this product, but there's no doubt that she can learn a lot from it."

DESCRIPTION: Everything is made of hard plastic, except for the checked "blanket" which is like a handkerchief. The basket is packed pretty full with everything inside, but she can easily fit it all back in without help. She did not carry the entire basket around until recently (14 months) and still prefers not to, but she has always taken it off of her toyshelf and sat with it closeby in the floor. The plates are similar to wooden puzzles (only plastic), and she is learning to put the foods in place. I like that she will have to use her imagination and also I will not have to worry about the inside of the picnic basket getting sticky with juice and I am glad that ants will not be stored in there. So basically, it just randomly asks your child to find things, but she may never know if her answer was correct (or wrong!)."

I'm really glad I took my time because I eventually discovered this kitchen, which came out quite recently I believe (I don't even see it on kidkraft's website), and it meets all the criteria I was looking for in a kitchen. Things I wanted in a play kitchen that this kitchen has: - made out of wood, not plastic. - has a refrigerator with 2 doors instead of just 1 (seems more realistic to me). - has counter space for play prepping food/so it doesn't feel so squished. - has a washing machine (I know reviews about other kitchens sometimes think it's weird to have a washer in the kitchen, but I like that it's adds variety and I don't have to buy a separate washer machine play set). - neutral color scheme. DESIGN: - My daughter still gets a kick out of peekaboo, so the two "windows" are a pretty nice addition. - Also, in general this kitchen, this kitchen has a good amount of storage space, with 2 additional compartments under the sink."

"This kitchen is hands down the BEST purchase that I have made for my 2 year-old daughter. I worked in a daycare for 6 years, taught integrated preschool for 4 years and have my own children and I've seen my fair share of kitchens, plastic and wooden. I heavily researched play kitchens for about a year and set my sights on this one early on. Realistic - this kitchen looks and feels completely real. Well designed - this kitchen is well designed to meet the needs of young children and is a great size. (I do have some con's with the design but they are mostly tedious! If your child isn't into that kind of play, it makes for great extra storage! It took us 3.5 hours to identify and make sure that all of the pieces were there and to put it together. Lastly, some of the handles are misleading - for example, the oven handle is horizontal but opens from the right side which makes it hard sometimes to open (for a 2 year old) and is slightly annoying. I recommend purchasing an LED push light or 2 to add to this to make it more bright. I put one up above the sink and it's super bright and adds to the realistic feel of the kitchen."
